New Wolfenstein II Tweet Ad: "There is only one side."

It's so bizzare that American's have only just jumped on the "Nazis are evil" thing. The rest of the world has been enjoying killing nazis in games for decades.
Huh?

The only reason this is ‘controversial’ is because of Trump and the Neo Nazi ‘movement’.

America has always enjoyed killin’ gnat zees.

Well it's more certain sections of the population have had a lapse in memory in this regard, and the people at Bethesda are gently giving them a reminder.

I'm not from the US, but I'm pretty sure americans knew nazis were bad since, I don't know, WWII. The reason why this marketing campaign is so good it's not only because it's good (it is) but because of the political climate in the world right now.

Also Wolfenstein is over 30 years old, and it's always been about killing nazis.

Its so good

What are you talking about?

It feels like killing Nazis is a new thing for you guys, it's really odd. I never once saw people celebrating killing nazis when the first one released (Same goes with COD).

(Just going by what I've been seeing on this forum though)

Hahaha, it's crazy that there is this other side in the real world. Shows how crazy things are. Killing nazi in games are as safe as killing zombies, heck you can sympathize with zombies in games.

They are doing amazing things with this advertising.

It's bizarre, but for a very different reason.

It's so bizarre that the "Nazis are evil" thing is only just becoming controversial.

For what exactly? lol I don't see why this advertising is hyped up...it goes with the theme of the game...
I assume you understand this is a reference to Trump’s condemnation of bigotry and violence on “many sides”.
It’s clever because it’s topical. And it’s seen as ballsy because it takes a side. It’s literally not politically correct.

But yeah, it’s pretty depressing that this should be somewhat controversial. I mean, the reason Godwin’s law exists is because Hitler and Nazis were the most obvious and consensual bad guys people arguing on the internet could think of.

You have that 100% backwards.

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of reviews for Wolfenstein The New Order praised killing nazis haha

Punching nazis. I never expected this to become controversial, but here we are. I like how they're doubling down on the concept rather than shy away from potential sale losses. Nazis fucking suck. They did in WW2, they do today, they do in videogames. In a world where nazis are feeling more and more empowered thanks to recent political winds, we definitely need some media that makes a point of putting them in their place. Bravo.

To think that the day would come where we have to be reminded who the villains are in the real world....through a video game.

As long as Nazi popularity goes down I'm all for it.

Dear Wolfenstein II developers,

Give us a super punch power up that will knock their fucking helmets off and make their heads explode at the same time.

Thanks.

I scrolled as far down the twitter responses as I could and saw plenty of "awaiting butthurt Nazis" esque comments but no actual butthurt Nazis. I don't actually think this campaign is particularly controversial. Between today and the responses to previous ads, I haven't seen much in the way of actual controversy.

As feel good as this campaign may be, I think the biggest problematic demographic facing the American political system isn't the self identified Nazi, but those who don't recognize how current sensibilities align with fascist tendencies and don't self identify as Nazi. The criticism I see more frequently is the far right laughing at/getting angry at the left for labeling Trump and his supporters Nazis. Why would they assume this campaign is targeted at them?

Looks like BJ's wearing a straight-jacket in that little clip. Ooo-la-la.

Guess there's more to that render of Frau Engel licking BJ than I thought.

It's weird that we're in an age where this is apparently a controversial stance.

All the same, good on them. Fuck Nazis

It's only controversial to assbags who would like to keep their Nazi shit low-key so no one is being vigilant about it. It's controversial to people who always want to find some safe, comfortable middleground to literally black-and-fucking-white issues and I hope that fence they're desperately trying to ride splits them in two.

BTW that scene is more relevant than it might seem.

And R.I.P. Donald Malarkey (July 31, 1921- September 30, 2017)

You might want to look at where those games were made lol

Honestly war games only moved on to modern stuff because we finally got tired of killing only nazis after like 50 straight years of it
