New Wolfenstein II Tweet Ad: "There is only one side."

I sent Slayven this message and I wanted to post it here.

"Hey man I'm sorry that I caused a ruckus in the Wolfenstein thread. I guess I did not word out what I wanted to and I did it pretty improperly. Two things that will always stay constant for me is my love for God and my disdain for those that want to do harm to His children. I understand that you have the same sentiments, but possibly not in the same way (don't want to assume you're religious). That being said, I hate Nazis. I'm down for punching them and killing them with whatever else the second game gives us, hopefully double shotguns again. What I was trying to say was that it seems like the Wolfenstein marketing team wants to equate the Nazis to all Trump supporters or conservatives (which there are some that are Nazis). I personally think that it's an unfair assessment. It's like saying that all liberals or socialists are communists. I hope this message receives you well. Again, I do apologize for any confusion that I might have caused."

This goes for anyone that I really did make angry or pissed off.

I'm really looking forward to this game and kicking some Nazi ass.

I hope this finds you well friends.
Bruh Trump is LITERALLY the person who said that there were 'very fine people' on both sides when one of the sides was literally white supremacists.

And the fact that Trump supporters think anti-Nazi ad campaigns are also anti-Trump says a hell of a lot about Trump supporters.

Don’t forget Steve Bannon and Steve Miller. Look, we know what Trump is and this organization and so does his voters. One side is a reference to them, and it calls them out perfectly, well played.

The thought that this is considered controversial is deeply unsettling. I knew Trump getting elected made some toxic people scurry out into the open but I never thought there would be so much neo-nazis in America to cause this reaction. It seemed that the glorification of violence against nazis was only met with praise before this year.

I'll just be happy that it looks like more people will be getting into MachineGames' Wolfenstein because of this. The games are so fucking good.

I abhor Nazis and what they stand for, but man the antifa undertones especially with the political climate as it is... Just hope they know that they know that today you have hypocrisy on both sides.

I don't care what side of the political spectrum you are, whether Trump supporter or a part of the resist side, just care for each other and have meaningful discussions to understand the other side.

Unless you are truly a Nazi, then you need some Jesus.
I’m not gonna care for someone that wants my people to be killed.

You're making it very clear that you don't understand. The fact that Trump supporters are pissed off because they think that an ad talking about Nazi's is talking about them IS THE PROBLEM. It's very, very, telling.

They are practically outing themselves, and they don't even realize it!

Absolutely amazing.

Wanted to ask here since it's the most current thread for the game:

Am I ok jumping into WII as my first wolf game?

It would be better if you had played (or watched an LP of) The New Order, but you will probably get by ok if that's impractical for you.

The plot is a bit crazy if you just read it at the synopsis level and part of why it's so good is a) the gameplay and b) the characterizations being so good and doing a great job of selling you on everything despite the silliness.

But if you want to know the broad strokes:

The Nazis began deploying advanced weapon systems using technology they stole from an ancient Jewish secret society

B.J. Blazkowitz, the main character, attempted to assault the compound where these things were being manufacturered, led by "General Deathshead". He failed, and in the battle he was lost at sea in a coma and rescued by Nazis who mistakenly took him for one of their own.

14 years later, BJ wakes up in a Hospital in Poland and begins trying to contact the resistance against the nazis. It turns out the Nazis have more or less taken over the world at this point, including the United States.

After rescuing several people from prison he reunites with some old comrades and starts to strike back. They steal some advanced weapon prototypes then break a member of the ancient secret society out a concentration camp, who then provides them with some more ancient tech the nazis don't have access to.

You go to the fucking moon to steal nazi nuclear armament codes.

The game ends with another assault on the compound you were at in the opening. This time you kill Deathshead and BJ blacks out just before a nuclear strike is scheduled to hit the compound.

Trump is at best, at fucking best a Nazi apologist. He had harsher criticisms for fucking football players than he did for the assholes marching in Charlottesville. So anybody who STILL supports him supports a fairly blatant Nazi apologist and I have zero problems with those people, those types of garbage human beings, being demonized. Fuck every single one of them.

This ad put a big smile on my face.

The "offended" replies took it off my face pretty quickly.

I mean, people being offended by "Nazi's are bad" in this large of numbers is crazy. I can see the news and understand the state we're in right now, but every once in a while it takes a more "at-home" moment like this to put it into proper perspective. The Trump / Republican problem isn't just an old-white-assholes-in-power problem. These reponses are likely largely young gamers who've been indoctrinated. This problem isn't going away anytime soon.

Combine this with the rise of Bernie-style socialists in young Americans, and the US is only going to get more divided as time goes on. Which is crazy considering how bad it already is.

The stage is being set for some bad shit.

Interested to see how Wolfenstein turns out though!

They should really include an option to sit down with every enemy in the game and have a personal discussion with them.

I feel like the first game would have been much better with this too. Deathshead showed very obvious signs of having a confused and tormented mind. If we had talked to him sooner I'm sure he would have gave up his evil conquest.

I scrolled as far down the twitter responses as I could and saw plenty of "awaiting butthurt Nazis" esque comments but no actual butthurt Nazis. I don't actually think this campaign is particularly controversial. Between today and the responses to previous ads, I haven't seen much in the way of actual controversy.

As feel good as this campaign may be, I think the biggest problematic demographic facing the American political system isn't the self identified Nazi, but those who don't recognize how current sensibilities align with fascist tendencies and don't self identify as Nazi. The criticism I see more frequently is the far right laughing at/getting angry at the left for labeling Trump and his supporters Nazis. Why would they assume this campaign is targeted at them?

You should check again because the lead reply and the 20-30 responses to it has butthurt nazis now (and butthurt anti-nazis too, the entire exchange was pretty rough reading).

All that is left to do is punch 'em until there's nothing left.

Punching is a bit quaint isn't it? The Allies employed area bombing and incendiaries to kill tens of thousands of Nazis in a matter of hours. Eyewitness reports exist from the firebombing of Dresden of opening bomb shelters the next day to find nothing but a gray-green liquid with bones floating in it.

That's probably not possible domestically in 2017, but think of the damage a fleet of drones armed with Hellfires could do at the next Charlottesville-style march.

To be fair to dipshit Trump supporters, the ad campaign has been directly referencing things Trump has said. "There is only one side" is a reference to Trump's "many sides" comment. An earlier ad said something like "Make America Nazi-free Again". So they're definitely targeted, which makes it even better as far as I'm concerned.

Holy fuck what!? We have bombs that liquify? I've always just taken for granted that the incinerate/vaporize and blow the shit out of everything, I guess I never really considered there could be other types outside of science fiction.

Why would anyone be pro Trump at this point if they're not racist? I mean forget pre election shit. He's clearly showed who he is post election and post Charlottesville.

Same. Pre-ordered the deluxe edition.

Me too

This is exactly the responses that anger me. Everything boils down to both sides have bad thing, you just need to stand still while getting insulted, threatened, or hurt while hoping for something to occur.

Meaningless fucking replies.

I was going to wait a bit to pick this up since the 27th is an insane day for releases but I just have to now.

Most likely the intense heat from the firebombing melting the flesh off everyone like a giant pressure cooker and mixing with whatever fabric they were wearing that didn't ignite.

Anyway, I doubt you'd wanna think about what the military might be ordered to do domestically if the petulant manchild in the Oval Office had their way about it.

Liberals have introduced social welfare programs to help out those that are disenfranchised. Conservatives have advocated and fought for decentralized governments that allows for individuals to gain their rights and the ability to pull themselves from their bootstraps. Both sides have their flaws, also if we're going to discuss the impacts of globalization and the pros and cons about that, then we're going to be here for a while.

What.

What a life you must lead. You don't have to have any part of modern day America conservatism to be a progressive social libertarian in favor of sane policy balance.

Technically they were a political party in the 1930s Germany. But I get what you mean.

They WERE. Then the ENTIRE WORLD realized "oh shit, maybe Nazis aren't okay" and came together to put them down. Put them away.

They are no longer a political party. They are a hate group, and they have been defeated. They should never be a consideration in this world ever again.

I know this post has been torn apart already, but fuck this last sentence in particular and what it insinuates. Fuck. That.

That's sort of my point. The only "good" Nazi is a dead one.

Well there's a post I can agree with.
