New World of Warcraft Models: Female Human

really $5 is all that is holding you back? Odd reasoning... if you want to play I wouldn't imagine $5 being the deciding factor.

$15 versus $10 is a huge difference in terms of impulse buys. $15 is an exorbitant rate and was exorbitant at the time of release (50% higher than Everquest), let alone 10 years later. The reality is I don't play WoW much even when I am subscribed, but if I'm paying that much and not using it, I feel like I'm being robbed. They have to lower the sub price -- I guarantee that is what keeps many lapsed players away.

I am excited about it, but I need to see it on my char. I got him for almost 10 years now, I dont want him to lose his soul

They mentioned there will be an option to turn the new models off. It's a universal toggle though, meant more for old systems that can't handle the sudden explosion of high poly models everywhere rather than someone who just doesn't like them.

Have you seen the others? Someone needs to link the hilariously round undead girl booty

Undead girls do have quite the booty pop.

They are kinda hamstrung by the part of the community that does not accept change. So they have to make the models look as close to the original as possible while still making them look better and fit the style of the game. So far everything they've shown has been pretty impressive when you consider that. Also, the models now have way more animations and the already shown ones look absolutely fantastic.

Yeah, it got buried but I said after watching the video the animations are a significant leap over what they were able to accomplish and I'm a fan of them in that context now. Stills don't do them justice.

oh god

I'm happy for the model upgrades, but they're all still much lower quality than I was hoping for. I understand that so many characters have to get rendered at once, but these are still much worse than GW2/TOR
hell, maybe GW1 though they only had a few different body structures
models. Good ole lowest common denominator.

I like the model updates. They still have that world of warcraft art style just much more polished. It's not a crazy change like when Everquest went from it's boxy old models to the creepy new ones lol.

They haven't confirmed this yet. They said it was something they were trying to figure out, though.

Just need to see them animated now. That's when they really look dramatically improved. I still think the new animations are the best I've seen in an MMO.

WoWs not really an impulse buy game.. its something you either want to play for awhile or you don't. I dunno if I buy your reasoning here but to each their own.

Like someone said, what really doesn't come across in these static images is how much better these models animate. There's a lot more weight and expression and moving parts now.

What do you mean you don't know if you "buy my reasoning?" That's absurd. Most people subscribe to things and use them every so often. I went 8 months without touching my Netflix Instant more or less, but knowing it was there when I wanted it and only $8 meant I just kept subbing -- why not. If it were $15 though? Of course I would have canceled it.

I re-up for WoW after each expansion and maybe play for a month or two. If the price of the sub were lower, I'd stay subbed for longer because I wouldn't feel quite as compelled to play due to ostensibly losing money by not doing so. Anything over $9.99 is not in the "impulse buy" range. Once you go double digits, people are more than likely going to give it further thought. That's just reality.

Get the sub under $10 as it should be, and people will be more likely to play casually and not feel like they're throwing money away.

And I say this as an ATVI stockholder since 2009.

the way the pigtails move is mesmerising

ot : I like that they kept the childbearing hips intact
one of the few things to give wow credit for, that the human females' body looked like a woman and not some anorexic movie actress

Considering my main is a human female paladin I am loving the changes so far. I definitely hope the "serious" face translates to the new models well.

I.....had missed this clip. Holy shit.

I know I shouldn't be surprised as Blizzard(good Blizzard anyway) rarely does anything half assed. If THIS is the result of them when they finally put their all into something like this, I really cannot wait for this expansion.

Cut them some slack man, it's a 10 year old engine, that's some amazing tech on an old engine. Whoever made the original engine was a genius.

Not really enough to get me to go back, but still, pretty well done.
Really it's even older than that. The game may have come out almost ten years ago, but their engine was developed many years before that. Hell, Wildstar's engine will be around eight or nine years old already by the time that game comes out.

I like the new models a lot, but it seems crazy that it's taken 10 years for this to happen. Lone modders are replacing models in games like Skyrim all the time. Blizzard's pace of content production is glacial.

Oh shit, you got me with this one, literally. LOL

The thing I've always wondered about WoW's engine is how it would look with some sort of paralax mapping. I'd also love to see some overhaul to the global lighting. It looks very static.
I know they've said they're making enhancements to the engine in WoD but other than some fire effects, I wonder what they might be.

Oh and here's more gnomes.

I quit about a month in to Cataclysm after playing non-stop through BC and WotLK. I'm not sure why this, of all things, is tempting me to come back.

But then, I feel like if you spend 2~3 years away from WoW, there's not really a way of coming back. I take it Deathwing is dead now?

Lol so true.

I stopped playing during cata and just recently came back, it was pretty easy honestly.

It will feel kinda weird for a bit though, a lot of things have changed, mostly for the better.

Deathwing is gone, but his douchebag of son is here now.

can't stop laughing.

Kind of want to try WoW for the first time when this Draenor thing comes out. Out of all the Western MMOs I've played recently, WoW always seemed to have the most appealing charm aesthetically, but I couldn't get past the dated models and graphics.

Would be the best time to do it. WoD grants buyers a single level 90 boost(the level the new questing content starts at, new cap is 100) and has an introductory mission about an hour long intended to teach people coming into it how to play their new character effectively.

Are they going to redo space goats and blondies? I thought I remembered them saying the original races were going to be done first and these 2 after the expansion.

Draenei and Belves definitely, goblin and worgen maybe later

Goodness, talk about much needed updates. I genuinely look forward to seeing the rest of the characters!

Don't think I can ever play WoW again, though. Subbed for a month during Cataclysm and the magic is just gone for me :(

The model update looks ok in static images, but they really need to put out videos showing off the animation updates they are making. The animations are really what set the pandaren models apart from the older races imho, not that the model itself isn't higher quality but the animations show much greater improvement.

This! Need to see it in motion to really tell especially with regards to animations.

Agreed! Plus you don't get a real appreciation for them in their T pose. Her eyes look like they're bugging out because her lower eyelids are wide open. Gnomes look much better in their neutral stance than on the t-pose.
