New Yakuza 5 videos

^Hah, I give my backlog the 'middle finger' whenever Yakuza's involved, to me it's all about Yakuza when I get it.

DL version confirmed (19GB)

couldn't find a HD thread so post this here.

With SEGA focusing on digital releases...this is one way it can get an English release. Will dedicate my router/modem to dl this, my PS3 may suffer BUT I MUST HAVE MY YAKUZA BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!!111

Disc release or no sale. Digital goes bye-bye in years time. Disc is the only way to actually own something. Until they start having disc releases act like steam games next-gen, then its all downhill.

Saw that earlier, incredible.

I'm sure some people will be turned off, but I find this funny as hell and I'm sure it'll be interesting to play. And feature ridiculous plot points and side-quests, hopefully!

Since Sega is focusing of Digital Releases, I think it's the only way we'll see this game of the west.

Time to get a new hard drive!

(Or to learn Japanese, since it's not sure if it will come)

If they don't bring a proper version to the west like they have with every entry in the past then I will be VERY disappointed AND surprised.

I don't know why everyone is so negative, it will come to the west in a case like every other time, they know they have fans over here.

Yay, this video turned me off. Even if haruka part is cut from the english version, I think I'm okey.

Why? it looks like a more fun version of Karaoke mini game.

Unless of course your too manly to play these parts. :)

Well I'm pretty excited for some reason, I like random stuff like this, I'm also excited to see what trouble Hanuka gets into and how her story turns out, Idols are a big business in Japan so the story should be interesting.

haha true. im hoping to tie up most just to go back & finish platting dead souls (that last playthrough...) and try platting 3. god knows if they finally drop 1 & 2 HD, it's all over~

Ryu Ga Gotoku Team might be THE japanese team of this generation. 3 main games, and every single one of those games is amazing.

Kenzan
Yakuza 3
Yakuza 4
Dead Souls
Binary Domain

Are ALL amah-zing!

exactly that...but seriously, Kenzan! is incredible. the fansub guy i'm following needs to just tie up the last video (finale + ending i believe) so i can finally put that one to rest...it's been a wild ride.

Oh wow, that Haruka gameplay looks even worse than I'd imagined.

I really, really hope there's some way to skip it, or it's not brought over in the English release or something. I don't think I'd be able to bring myself to play it. It just looks vile.

Almost definitely a deal-breaker. :/

Is it worth importing Kenzan then? I've been thinking about it for a good while now.

While I'm certainly no fan of rhythm based games or the obligatory karaoke minigames that are becoming increasingly prevalent in asian-themed crime games, you certainly won't see me advocating Sega cutting chunks out of Y5 after what they did with Y3. Y4 revitalised the formula by splitting the random activities and stories across several characters so I wouldn't write this off so readily.

I don't know why, it just turned me off. I didn't played the mini games much in the past games except Mahjong and answer x answer. Maybe that's way?

As for the karaoke, the preorder bonus is a karaoke songs CD

Ah I see, I like to think Yakuza games have something in it for everyone, luckily for me I like exploring every part of the games so I get a lot of my money's worth :) and luckily for you most of the minigames are optional. (although this time looks like Hanuka part is less a minigame and more of an important part of the story that should not be skipped)

Cool preorder bonus, well I don't think I can learn Japanese in time to preorder that.

Hopefully we get some similar in the west.

Like I say, I really hope there is a way to skip it. Putting stuff like that in is fine if it's optional. Making somethnig like this mandatory is enough to make me not buy it.

No idea what Sega was thinking here.

Haruka is cute, that one scene with her and Saejima was intense.

Replace tense with 'creepy as hell'.

She was like thirteen in that scene.

It's great, definitely worth it.

Even without any guides (especially if your used to the Yakuza style) you get a basic idea what's going on, and the environments are beautiful for a game that came out before Y3, gameplay sort of reminds me of Onimusha.

Also this thread is a great place to start for using guides etc Guides are great if you have something like a laptop/Iphone while you play on the PS3 (which I don't :()

Hm, the Haruka mini games really do look kinda bad. Karaoke at least had the novelty of having Kazuma sing Kamurocho Lullaby while never being fun to play either. The Haruka stuff just has her dancing with a dead face expression with the same dull rhythm game on top of it.

But whatever, I don't really enjoy most mini games in Yakuza anyway. I'm here for the story and to beat fools up.

Well, that's that then. Buying. :)

Cheers, friend.

The problem is that this is part of the story. :/

They look like a slower version of Hatsune Miku.

I would much rather have a a retail copy, seriously hope it doesn't just come to a digital release only. You can't sniff digital games!

Haruka gameplay definitely is a step above the Karaoke which I thoroughly enjoyed in Y4. I am so going to be the No.1 idol.

Looks like Shinada is up next.

i'm satisfied with haruka gameplay

I'm somehow intrested to see how they will mix this into the main story but i'm not too worried
(i'm happy because it remind me of idolmaster )

This should be in the western release ..not having that would be a sure deal breaker for me..

They look like a slower version of Hatsune Miku.

Most of the stuff shown was easy mode ( slow and few notes )

Enjoy! Just don't hunt me down if you against all odds..hate the game!

I WILL BE OUT FOR BLOOD!

But seriously, I've been thinking about getting it for over a year now. I've pretty much just been waiting for someone to tell me it's good. I'm a massive fan of the series, so I really don't foresee any problems.

Haha, you'd not buy it if they cut it? Looks like we're at odds. Poor Sega can't win!

I think the solution is to make it skippable, but I'm willing to bet they don't.

I love rythm games and i dislike the fact that a game get cut of a significant portion because some people can't adapt their minds a little. ( like the hotess stuff in Y3 )

Give me the full experience ( a near full experience is accepted like Y4 ) or nothing

The hostess stuff was optional.

Anyway, like I say, Sega can't win.

I'd much rather play the Haruka bits shown than do any more shitty hostess stuff (edit: even if it's optional, I should add).

My preference is neither. If it's optional, that's cool. If it's mandatory, sorry, but no sale.

I literally cannot stand idol culture and music.

I almost hope it doesn't get translated now, just so that I don't have to not buy it.

You guys seriously disliked the video that much that you want those parts to just be cut out of the Western release altogether?

And you call yourselves Yakuza fans.

Absolutely. And yes I do.

what

irish where are you

Absolutely. And yes I do.
And you edited in your reply on top of that. I don't know what to say. :(

I just thought it was neater because we posted at the same time. ;)

And yeah, I'm obviously speaking from a selfish perspective. Yakuza is probably my favourite Playstation-exclusive franchise, so if it comes out, I'll probably buy it. If it has the idol stuff in it as mandatory though, I won't be able to get through it. So it would be in my interest for it not to get released here at all were that the case.

My preference would be that it's just skippable though, so as not to detract anything from other players.
