The actual Midna's Helmet was the physical manifestation of extremely powerful shadow magic passed onto the royal family of an alternate world, but when Link equips it in the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game, it will add "Guardian Resist Up" to Link's defense.

I still think the twili tribe originally is related to the majora's mask tribe. That or defected Sheikah, the Twilight Palace rooms do look kinda simular to the shrines/sheikah tech in BotW. And for the other one the fused shadow eyes look kinda simular to Majora's Mask.

Out-universe, we know BotW was inspired by the super-early Jomon period of Japanese history and the relics that survive from that time, and Nintendo definitely figured that into more than just BotW. The Tower of the Gods from Wind Waker also has that aesthetic.

Would be nice yeah we have 2 timelines where the mirror is still intact (adult/downfall).
And otherwise the timeline around BotW is so far ahead, they can come up with anything tbh.

We have no real reason to believe that Lorule and the Twilight Realm are the same place.

Lorule is a straight up parallel-mirror to Hyrule, seemingly like Termina except the parallels are stricter and more obvious. (Zelda -> Hilda, identical basic geography, etc.)
The Twili Realm is is own separate thing.

Lorule and the Twilight Relm are not the same with Twilight Princess pretty telling the player the how the Twilight relm came to be and the origin of the people inhabiting it.
