Been playing the game for some good hours. The improvement is much, much better than first expected. It actually renders it 'playabe' now :)

Here we posted a face to face SD vs HD face-to-face gameplay comparison video:

Here we took 50 HD screens and preview:

(will update with English asap)

Guess there'll be plenty of previews and stuff coming up now. But just ask me if in doubt!

EDIT:

English preview available.

And two hours livestream replay (Kakariko - Eldin Bridge fight - Ordon - Death Mountain trail - Goron Mines dungeon with Iron Boots until mid-boss and Hero Bow).

Gameplay changes:

- The Wii U GamePad will let you view the game's map and transform into Wolf Link with just a single touch, speeding up the transition.
- There's a new Ghost Lantern item which will glow when Poe Souls are nearby, making this lengthy sidequest easier.
- There are now 12 Tears of Light to collect in each area, down from 16, again making this quicker.
- Rupees will no longer remain in a treasure chest if your wallet is too full to pick them up
- Wallets have been modified to hold more Rupees to accommodate this
- Hero Mode is now available from the start. Link will take double damage and no health-replenishing hearts will appear in the world. Dungeons are also mirrored.
- Dozens of Miiverse stamps have now been hidden in chests around the world.

Nintendo's willingness to take the hacksaw to several of the more tedious parts in their beloved Zelda games fills my heart with joy.

Nice. Can you use Ganondorf amiibo in Normal mode? Or is it possible to play Hero Mode not mirrored?

These are the crucial questions I'd like answered too, if possible. Thank you GR!!

(I assume the answers are 'yes' and 'no', respectively, but confirmation would be great.)

I was at least hoping that hearts would still appear in the world with hero mode but oh well. Glad it's available right form the start. That's how I'm playing the game this time around. The lack of hearts though would certainly help you spend that money though when it comes to potions,

Quoting from this:
The lighting in some shots looked rough, and the new look didn’t appear to live up to what we all expected. Some shots of Link’s friend, named Ilia, looked washed out. It’s unclear if the unimpressive early trailers were due to poor video capture and compression or the use of early development material, but the footage Nintendo chose to show looked bad.

Playing Twilight Princess HD for 60 minutes, however, changed my initially negative perception. It looks like Nintendo has wiped away many of its graphical imperfections. The result is a lot of smooth edges and clean-looking environments. As I fast-traveled between the desolate Mirror Chamber, Ordon Village’s tree-filled paradise, The Temple of Time, and the icy fields of Snowpeak, I could see that the jaggy-laden visuals of the original game have been smoothed away. I’ll admit that some background elements can look a little out of place at times, but the geography wasn’t designed with higher resolutions in mind when this game was in development all those years ago.

My only nitpick so far has been the lighting engine. The original Twilight Princess had it’s share of bloom lighting. In the current HD version, it’s been replaced by a dreamy haze that looks fine in some areas but makes the visuals appear flat in others. The inconsistent shadows -- Link casts a much better looking shadow, but most enemies and objects don’t -- constantly reminded me I was playing an HD port. In the end, I definitely got the sense that Nintendo could have pushed this high definition graphics makeover a little harder and have given the world more life with better lighting and contrast. But I have to admit what’s here looked much better than I expected, and it makes this almost-ten-year-old game feel much more modern even if it's not quite as detailed as current generation games.

I think graphically it looks like ass.

Everything seems so flat and ugly, TP really has not aged well.

On the other hand, I guess it'd be nice to play it again?

Easily why I like the game. The game is filled with a great atmosphere.

I thought I was the only one.

I could say the same after these posts. I suppose it could be criticized as a menial task, but the atmosphere, music, and ease of it-- in addition to it also serving as an original way to explore parts of Hyrule before being set loose-- was really neat to me. It was sort of like a teaser for the overworld, and highly artistic IMO.

It was so different for a Zelda.

It's a collectathon but you're searching burning houses for tears!!!

I never wondered "when will this end?????"

It was like the Silent Realm for me in that it's not the most amazing concept ever conceived but it's different, dark and adds a lot.

more proof that art direction can be more influential than graphics. this game looks like it was crapped out of a bad children's book

Shame that the mirror world is forced when playing in Hero Mode. I would have preferred to go through the harder version game with the "proper" perspective after coming off the Wii version.

I like that Hero Mode and Gannondorf Amiibo mode have differences. Having no recovery hearts spawn in the world seems unfair to me; double damage sounds fun though.

Any word if the opening sections have been streamlined? Honestly I never had a big problem with them but some hate them.

Also can the Gannondorf amiibo be used more then once a day?

I tried to pick the most artistically compelling piece from TP that I could find since I know I'm biased against its art style. But I think even at its more artistically compelling moments I see a clear difference from the other Zeldas...it's missing that whimsical je ne sais quoi....

Ok, that bonus cave looked
dissapointing, just as I predicted reusing assets of the cave of ordeals, nothing new to see in this game.

WindWakerHD hugely dissapointed me; instead of fixing its flaws (bonus dungeon for that nayru pearl), they streamlined the ''boring'' things.

Just like with this remake, taking things out, instead of fixing the wasteland that is TP. Specifically the larger wallet ''solution'' has me in tears. Then again, I may be the odd duck here; I thought TP intro was quite compelling. Not excellent, but serviceable and interesting. At least WWHD had the lighting engine.

Don't get me wrong, its a good way for newcomers who haven't played the GC versions, but for veterans of the series, knowing they didn't fixed the shortcomings?

No thanks; will stick with the superieur fonts of the GC version.
