If it's happening for everybody I guess it's not a "problem" as such. Seeing as everything is up to date I just stop the sync. I'll leave it in overnight tonight and see if that solves it.

From what I could see, the only way to get an audiobook on the Zune is with a thirdparty app, and I don't know if they work with MP3s.
Gotcha, I just checked the Zune site and apparently that's the case. I have tried putting it on my Zune by just tagging it "Audiobook", but it just shows up as a regular genre. Since I keep shuffle on at all times, it would just be too much of a hassle for that.TheGreatDave said:

Do what scorcho said. Change the genre to Podcast and put it in any folder. Then in the Zune software go to Settings>Software>collection and add the folder you created to the podcast section.
The mp3 audio book will then appear on your device as a podcast which will be automatically bookmarked whenever you stop listening to it.

Fuck. Install hanged at 95%, so I cancelled it, tried again, says it can't install as it's got an installation in process.

every other time there's been a firmware update it's taken FOREVER to d/l and install, but this time was very nice

Upgraded my 80GB zune with no problems. I went to the zune website and downloaded the software directly from there though.
Pretty impressed with the new features, including the games. If they could introduce some multiplayer stuff or even integrate this with XBL that would be amazing.

I've come to the decision that I'm buying a Zune 120GB and maybe a 16GB when I want to go running or don't want to carry that much music (I had a 30GB, but the charger port got bent so I can't charge it anymore >_<). I was wondering what is the filetype for songs off the marketplace? I plan on getting a Zune Pass so I just wanted to know.

Don't worry, MS is well aware of the limitations that are in the Device to Cloud right now. :lol
They didn't want to add podcasts right away because they would have to support both audio/video podcasts (and they don't support video from the cloud in this release). Don't worry, I would expect it will come in the Spring update.

the zune pass songs are WMA with special DRM. As far as purchase goes, they're usually either WMA with DRM (but not as restrictive as the zune pass kind) or non-DRM MP3

It took a few hours for their card to work for me, so don't stress if it doesn't work first time. I signed up about 4 months ago, so it should still work.

I just bought the new Ricky Gervais podcast and it transfered over to the Zune instantly, but after the transfer there's now a new 'Audiobooks' section in the Zune's main menu in between Podcasts and Marketplace.
