Yeah, this. I can't think of a reason why they would be larger. They're APUs with the processor and graphics on one chip, plus not clocked as high as Cell and Xenon were. I think they won't be any bigger than 7th gen.

That has nothing to do with next gen consoles. A guy from DICE confirmed it's a PC and nothing more.
Bingo. I have a large tower PC case I can accomodate a large console. I would want the possible cooling environment for the internals. Not some cramped little box.
Well the Japanese thought the Orig. Xbox was too big. I didn't hear any complaints about the PS3 Phat though. So based on these observations, Japanese-Big is the limit. Unless it's made by American company, then it's already too big.
I hope this answers your question.
Size and design of the PS2 would be perfect! I want to be able to put it vertically between two books or horizontally. The PS3 rounded upper part didn't allow me that.
The original PS2? The size is petty decent, I'd be happy with that.
Yeah I stand by my answer - smaller than phat PS3/Xbox, but not as small as PS2 slim.
I wonder if the new consoles will stand vertically and horizontally? I sort of like having the "mini tower" option.
So basically, how big (or small) do you expect the next gen consoles to be?
... and does it even matter?
They're based on a single chip, APU design.
I think that people will be pleasantly susprised at how small they will be.
The fat PS3 had Cell + RSX + dual bus for memory+ FlexIO bus+ + PS2 hardware, PS4 on the contrary will have just the APU and the bus to the GDDR5 pool of memory.
I expect something of the size of the 2009 Slim PS3 at launch.
