They are already working on the next player to build the team around (suckforluck). It's all part of the plan.

Every time I watch the Pats play, I think what we could be like if we actually had a good coach/front office.

Hey same boat here. Read a lot of articles how Bob McNair is so impressed with how the Patriots operate and wants to build them in the same mold. Yet here we are in season 10.....

So question for Dolphins fans:

Any new opinions on Henne? Your playcalling was much more pass focused than previous years. Seems like Henne can actually make the throws when given the chance.
He has a big arm but he's horrible in the red zone accuracy wise. They win if he can throw a goal line fade correctly.

or pick the appropriate receiver to throw that fade to in the first place...

Man I need to get nfl game rewind, but I'm so broke :( I looked at stats for the Miami game, and I feel slightly better about the defense, but I need to re-watch the game to further analyze it. Fist drive Miami scores. Then, the Pats shut them down for the rest of the half. They score a td on the Brady int, and then they have a nice drive but don't finish. Lots of yards at the end of the game. Can't wait to re-watch it sometime this week when I buy NFL rewind.

Edit:Miami had 213 yards total (i thought it was passing) in the last 8 min of the game. Definitely need to re-watch the game.

I don't think Henne is a "bad" quarterback. He just doesn't have the skillset of a modern passing QB or have the ability run a hurried offense.

It's week one, deal with it.

Do I think the defense is better? Yes.
Did they look good/great Monday night? No. Not at all.
Do I think they will be a dominate top-tier defense? No, they were never supposed to be.
Can they be stable? Who knows. It's week one.

People act like the Patriots were supposed to perform that way in the prior regular season. We have a ton of work to do on the defensive side. We were either going to be old and slow or young and inexperienced. I'll go with the later when you have the best quarterback to play the game making your team look good.

I'm going to guess and say the Pats played defense to protect the lead in the 4th and got burnt. I think they played better than the stats showed, and they made key stops when the needed. I just want to know what the fuck happened in the 4th. Miami had 254 yards through three quarters and in less than 8 min the Pats gave up 215 yards.

Stone cold lock of the week is the Steelers absolutely crushing the Seahawks. I don't think that'll even be close.

A huge :lol to everyone going woe are the Rams for their injuries. The injury kart (tm) has a locker and travels with the Giants, let's get that clear. I was never confident about the Redskins game, but I expect complete domination of the Rams (if Nicks and Tuck or Osi play, if they don't only somwehat complete domination).

The only drive I will bitch about is the first Miami one. Refs blew a couple calls going in the Miami direction and it just seemed like one of the most painfully long/idiotic scoring drives I have seen in a while. Other than that we played pretty poor. The only plus I would come away with is our players made great solid takedowns and hits. They seemed to have really worked on this in the offseason.

As was said earlier, expect alot of Turner and Snelling on Sunday night. The Eagles seem vernable(sp?) to the run and will also help to keep Vick and the offense off the field.

I must admit I'm a bit scared after seeing what the Brady bunch did last night, especially if they go with a lot of no huddle and gas the Chargers D-line that relies heavily on rotations and substitutions. However, I would like Norv to take a page out of Bellichick's book and run no huddle when the Patriots get fat Albert on the field.

I think this will be a high scoring affair. I want the Chargers to win, but wouldn't be surprised if they lose seeing as it's September, they're on the road, and haven't had much success against the Patriots recently.

The Chargers maybe lost last year, but it was really close. If it wasn't for an false start penalty that kick might have been good plus they completely shut down the offense.

Edit : False start not offside. Derp

I thought the dline played well, but the coverage let them down. Lots of good signs from the game. The defense wasn't in the backfield every play, but I thought they were getting more pressure than last season. Also Andre Carter continues to look good. Ras-I looks like he can play, and Solder was awesome. Haynesworth looked good. I'm a little concerned about McCouty, but if he gets his shit together the pass coverage will be much better. I think that the defense will be much better than last season, and that has me excited.

Future HOF coach Jim Caldwell won't allow his team to be embarassed again.

I don't see it. The Atlanta defense won't be able to hold up its end of the bargain and the score will force the Falcons to abandon the run.

I'm not going to blame anything on the Rams injuries, b/c they were going to suck anyway. But I think who you lose is more important than sheer numbers.

When everyone is healthy, who are/were the three most important Giant defensive players? Offensive players? What is their current status?

Packers won the Super Bowl without 2 of their top 4 offensive players. Maybe this is the Rams year!

Everyone healthy? Top three on D would be Tuck, Osi, Webster and #4 is Terrell Thomas. On offense it's Eli, Nicks, McKenzie (come at me bros).

What are their statuses? Osi/Tuck hurt (may both miss game), Thomas out for the season. Nicks getting MRI on knee that was swollen yesterday. Eli fine, McKenzie fine.

You know Tuck and Osi, two pro bowl DEs. TT was the leading tackler on the team last season and led the team in interceptions (the only measure for DBs!). FWIW we also lost our starting MLB and you are going to see a rookie playing his second pro game.

Ah yeah and our first round pick is out for a few more weeks.

Oh no doubt. I picked them to win their division this year. I just find it funny when fans of a team get all snarky when their team hasnt done jack shit, like ever. Like...this dude should be in the same boat as us lowly Browns fans but now that Manning's neck is fucked and they beat them (a team that even we're favored to beat this week) he's going all beer muscles on me...haha ok man! I've seen this movie before. The chase/crash scene at the end is the best.

You're a Browns fan. They beat Manning last year when he was healthy. Gap is closing, and we have been playing them close for awhile.

I could understand you talking shit if you were a fan of a perennial power or something.

But again...you're a Browns fan.

Lost a number of those games because of Kris Brown. Never forget.

Wow that is bad. And also demonstrates Rams problems. Bradford is bottom 3rd QB, SJax is good but wearing down, and Amendola might not make your team team if everyone was healthy. Best three offensive players right there

Although Rams being shitty and subsequent attendance decline takes the blood of Kroenke's hands when he moves them to LA. So that's a win for the organization at least.

Yeah and we beat the Steelers once in a blue moon too, big whoop. I wasnt talking shit, you might wanna go back and re-read. This line of yours alone was pretty much my point to another Texans fan.

Turner looked good aside from the fumble. The turnovers and penalties caused us to get behind then the Bears just dropped 7 back the rest of the game. I don't think the Eagles D will be able to do that. (I hope I'm right)

Guess Im going to have to root for ATL to beat the Eagles. The Falcons are going to be shit this year anyway but if they can manage to win against the Eagles I will have a modicum of respect for them.

After losing to the Bears in embarassing fashion last week Im not expecting anything promising though.

Put me on the "Falcons are gonna have a bad season" train.

I always though last year that the Falcons had every bounce go their way and that they were never 13-3 good. 10-6 at best this year.

Hard to say, I'm going with Rams to win. I don't like your D and your offense needs to really get it together. Love to see you guys take down the Rams though. Do us that favor will ya?

Expect the Eagles to throw 8 in the box all day, and challenge Ryan/White/Jones/Gonzalez to beat the secondary. I don't think they can do it.

Finley is number 3 for sure, but I don't know about Grant at 4. He sure was their entire run game during the season though.

I like how you're already distancing yourself from the team based on your phrasing. Looking for a new host to latch on to already?

He's been doing that since Sunday. Hilarious to watch.

I think I said early on in the offseason that as long as we make the playoffs, I'm a ok.

I hope to god they do that.

Browns signed Brad Maynard lol.

Was needed very badly. Special teams is normally a strength but after losing Hodges and watching McGee against Cincinnati, punting is the main reason we lost.

Week one is always interesting, tons of doomed and Superbowl bound talk. This is the NFL, any team can win or lose week to week against any opponent. This year it might be slightly exaggerated due to the shortened preseason but we all know that the only truly doomed team are the Browns.
