Vaunted Explosive Bears Offense is now averaging fewer points than last season. And more concussions.
Yeah this is why you don't talk too much shit after week 2.

I am looking at you Equus....

Man, i should have gone with my gut. I was never confident about Denver vs. Tennessee and The Giants vs. the Bears.

That said who saw the Colts losing? This is gonna be a great season.

I picked the Colts to lose because of how they played at Denver last week. They really haven't looked like the colts this year and for some reason they keep getting put down by marginal Defense (although after this week, Im upgrading Denver D from marginal to 'ok')

I said no way the Colts lose to the Jags if the Jags are playing without a QB. Apparently Garrard remembered he could be a QB.

Steeler fans are not allowed to appreciate or laugh with Bart Scott regardless of whatever buffoonery or criminal act he is engaged in at the time.

Jackson will probably play. Trust me.

But yes, even without him.

They really started opening the playbook and trying new things when he went down last week, and looked the best they have this year as Kenneth Darby scampered in for a TD and was excellent in picking up blitzes.

Bradford is the key now, and Jackson or no Jackson the Rams will take this game.

I'm just saying.

O-line, Martz's coaching helped Jay Cutler exit early

Most of it was the fault of his offensive line, which looked as if it had decided that it simply was Cutler's day to die. With friends like these, he doesn't need enemies. Or Satan.

The Giants were without Mathias Kiwanuka, who came into the game as their leading sacker. It's hard to decide whether that's insult being added to injury or the other way around.

Cutler didn't get a whole lot of help from offensive coordinator Mike Martz, who kept calling plays that involved seven-step drops by the quarterback. A seven-step drop was like walking the plank Sunday night.

Rick Morrissey is hilarious :lol

Yea Martz certainly didn't help Cutler.
They kept showing the replays of the routes on his sacks. The routes were far too long, you would think after the 2nd or 3rd sack he would have started calling shorter plays.

I woke up this morning and found that my beloved Jets had absolutely obliterated the Buffalo Bills in a fashion identical to the one I stated in page 6 of this thread.

I woke up this morning, and knew full well that tonight, one of my most hated division rivals will be guaranteed to be 1.5 games back of me (1 full game, and division matchup/tiebreaker in hand) because the both of them are playing each other.

I woke up this morning, and Mark Sanchez has yet to throw a pick thusfar amongst his number of TDs, and that Braylon Edwards is actually a highly competent receiver when he has a QB that doesn't suck throwing to him.

I woke up this morning knowing that the running game is back to full bullshit mode; it gets 5 yards out of the O-line alone.

I woke up this morning knowing that every week is one more week closer to full health and full blitz potential from the Jets.

I woke up loving football this morning.

Just chiming in to say the some of this Cutler stuff is vicious. Hes not even a bad guy. : (

If it was Manning number 1, then everyone would be upset and full of well wishes. Double standard!

Yeah, this year is fucked. I knew the Jags always played the Colts tough, but this years Jags looked so bad. However, I didn't take into account that maybe, just maybe, the Colts aren't as good as they used to be.

no, thats not true. Everyone would be like "manning face lolololol" and then there would be comments about what the league is going to do to the other team for hurting Manning.

Why is everyone all excited about the Jets beat down of the Bills? And amazed LT had a big game? It was the freaking Bills.
I'm watching the end of the Redskins Eagles game and they come on with a "play of the day" and it was the Jets vs Bills, the "play of the day" was a touchdown pass with the Jets already up 31 to 7. Really? thats the play of the day?

Sorry Bears fan. As a long time St. Louis Rams fan I can attest to the fact that your team will flounder miserably, and all of your QB's will become shell shocked shadows of themselves with Martz as OC. We in Rams country know what you're expereincing today all too well.

Too bad. Lovie is a good guy. He's probably better suited as a DC though.

Yeah, what a weird fucking day of football yesterday. Lotta people got half their picks wrong (me included). Kinda makes the Steelers loss a bit more bearable, especially since the Bengals lost, the Colts lost, etc. It's going to be an entertaining season. :lol

Hopefully Cutler isn't out too long. He's the only tiny sliver the Bears have of any sort of offense, the running game is non-existent. You would think he would have started more out of the shotgun or something but Martz™ won't have it.

Overall, this whole season so far is wacky, the Chiefs, Bears, Texans, Redskins, and Rams are division leaders? What is going on?

Edit: or are the Cardinals above the Rams?

So lets see: Brady always sucks in Miami, Pats defense is horrible, Pats suck on the road in general, Miami is great at home. Looking forward to watching my team get blown out on national tv! :(

scumbag city

Pats fans never get the chance to see their own coach showing class.

Also, you might want to get your tear ducts checked by a doctor. 32 straight months of crying can't be healthy. :lol

Is the new umpire positioning exposing overrated left tackles this year?

Seems like more hold calls on them, albeit from a limited sample size of games I've seen.

Manning number 1 doesn't really have a manning face. Now, number 2 has full slack jawed, empty eyed manning look. The other manning's manning face is only of importance since he looks like a t-rex.

Also everyone loves Manning number 1, Captive.

Regardless of who they play, LT is looking a whole hell of alot better than he did the last two seasons. I mean, cmon the dude is making people miss now. He was almost relegated to Addai running the last few seasons (put head down and be happy with 4-6 yards).

Fucking this. He's as bad as Grossman when it comes to holding on to the ball. FFS.

And Hanie had a couple of nice throws...well, for a 3rd string QB. He should definitely be the primary backup now.

umm do you read this thread at all man? Just yesterday I knew the Colts lost even though I didn't get the game because i saw "lol manning face!!!!" and "59 yards" Just go back a few pages and look.

Everyone in this thread loves Manning? Surely you jest.

Checked out the Eagles official website to see what headlines were up today, and instead found some live video feed playing of some radio guy talking with callers about the game. And I was treated to this great quote right away from the host:

Host: "We lost to a worse team. The Redskins suck. I mean, come on Donovan, I mean, Quarterback X..."

Caller: "You can say Donovan it's OK."

Host: "No, NO, Quarterback X, he was 8 of 19..."

Caller: "Just say Donovan..."

Host: "8 of 19!!! ...and we lost the game. That's very hard to digest."

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Thoughts on Steelers loss after having a day to think (cry) about it.

Even with Ben I would have been happy to go 3-1 to start the season, no one can say that our start to the season was anything but a total success. Our shitty offense and some bad coaching finally came back to bite us in the ass.

I was a little surprised at how the Ravens pushed our defense around (at times). They were able to run it and throw it at times on the defense. I expected them to make some plays in the air, but their ability to run the ball and our inability to pressure Captain Unibrow was a surprise (especially at home). They had some nice runs on 2nd and 3rd and long and I am not used to seeing teams have success in those or any other running situations on a healthy Steelers D. Oher was able to win his one on ones with Harrison more often than not (that is not easy to do). I thought that the Ravens playcalling early on really surprised our defense and I have to give props to the Ravens coaches for that (since Whiz left I almost never see this from our offense so I always get jealous of great offensive coaching). Defense really settled down after that first drive and we were dominating their offense for about half of the game (they were also dominating our offense for an equal period of time). But of course the offense didn't take advantage I started screaming at the TV when Tomlin sent Reed out there to kick that 49 yard FG. How many time have we seen opposing coaches make the same mistake and send their kicker into a funk when he misses the long one at Heinz (anything over 45 is incredibly hard to make at Heinz)? Only somehow Tomlin and the coaches forget this and instead of potentially pinning Baltimore deep in their own territory they take the stupid gamble which predictably fails. The 45 yarder was still a little long, but I will put that one more on Reed (though in my experience anything over 42 yards is tough as shit to make on our shitty field).

Overall Mendenhall looked like the real deal yesterday, but Batch looked like a backup qb. He had that deer in the headlights look for much of the game and it seemed like he was afraid of the pressure. He had Wallace open a couple of time for the bomb but he fucked up most of those throws. I am not going to be too hard on him though because when you consider the fact that he is 100 years old and is our 4th string backup I thought he did a pretty good job.

Loved the defensive stand before the offensive debacle at the end of the game. I did want the offense to run it three times and either get the first down to win the game or if not that then to make Baltimore use all of its timeouts and then punt. However after the defense did its job the offense was a fucking joke. 2 false starts out of 3 running plays when you are at home with the game on the line. No fucking excuse for that. If we don't have those false starts we at least give Mendenhall a chance to get the first, instead we make our punter kick from the back of the end zone and then that hold was another giant mistake. Defense had a few mental mistakes after that, but I primarily blame the offense and special teams for totally failing to execute and fucking everything up and then hoping for the defense to save the day again. We need to get that shit straightened out during the bye.

I don't see the false starts continuing to be a problem. Just having Ben's strong hands back behind center is going to instill the offense with a ton of confidence.

You need big strong hands to be a premier NFL qb, right FMT?

I thought Hanie was the primary backup. He should be anyway.

never even heard of an injury like that, such a perfectly timed combo hit, tough luck.

What was up with Tomlinson going visor-less?

missed this gem. Hope Brandon Marshall goes down with a career ending back injury tonight. How's that?

No1 in the Pats secondary hits hard enough for something like that to happen.

Also, wishing for ill-will and making a joke on something that already happened are two different things.

I personally love Manning 1 for everything he has done for the Texans. Given us a goal to strive for, created drama in otherwise boring seasons, and been our personal gatekeeper to the playoffs. You should too Captive. He's done alot for us.

And thats an unfair picture. Bad light and the angle makes them look similar.

For exarkun
A few choice quotes from what I assume is the fourth quarter. And its worse when he is on primetime because more haters are watching.

Whats even funnier is that Manning did everything to win that game and the kick is in no way his fault, but he still gets some "manning face!!!"

Thank you kind sir.

aside from da being an idiot, the cards always seem to have a really deflating penalty that usually results in points taken off the board early in a game. then it goes all down hill from there.

As a Browns fan, I freaking knew that Derek Anderson wouldn't make it through the whole season.

As soon as the Cardinals cut Leinart, I laughed. DA is no savior.

Collins was for whatever reason. Hanie will probably be starting this week. :-(

Anyone in CHI hear an update on Cutler?

I'm not in CHI but allI know is Cutler is supposed to be taking the normal routine concussion tests to see if he is cleared.

The Bears really need to work of the offensive line and Cutler's pocket awareness. They've allowed 18 sacks, the most in the NFL. They also allowed more sacks than any other team in the preseason.

That plus a non-existent running game == bad news Bears.

AirBrian said:

I don't think players should play for at least a week following a concussion but each handles concussions differently. The only actual rule is you have to come out immediately after the concussion, but no rule on how soon you can come back.

I think Whitten came back the next week after his concussion.

I would guess he misses next week and they bring him back the following week.
