Forgot Hillis was WW. He's been starting since week 1, no? I think someone in my league actually picked him up before the week 1 games. Could be wrong though.

i think harrison was the starter initially but hillis just kept on outproducing him and the rest is history after baltimore

i was lucky enough to snag him before week 1 :D
 
Went back and looked, and yeah, it was right after week 1. He had 9 carries for 41 yards and a TD in the first game.

Wish I'd been paying more attention when that happened.

Our head coach, who calls the offensive plays didnt know we needed over a yard for a 1st down. Heaven help the rest of the season.
 
Watched the Collie hit and even though I disagree with the UR call.. man.. Collie looked dead after that helmet to the back of the head.
 
I just ran the numbers, and my strategy of just picking the defense that's going up against the lowest scoring/most interception prone team I can find has scored me more points than any single defense in the league including the Titans and Steelers. Even if you factor in the one bye week, it's still impressive.

Taking a defense with anything except your very last pick is for suckers.*

*Until more people start using the strategy and it becomes impossible to reliably pick a favorable defensive matchup each week, at which point taking a good defense with an earlier pick will make sense again.

Shaun Hill's forearm injury forced the Lions to rush him back too early.

In his first game back, you could see right after he threw the ball the first time he was in serious pain.

It was yet another stupid mistake by the coaching staff.

Speaking of, Jim Schwartz came out and said he was at fault for the "miscommunication" on the last drive. He said he wasn't clear with Drew Stanton about whether to pass or run the ball.

Sorry, but if you're a head coach you HAVE to be able to communicate. Stanton should have had the message "if you're going to get sacked, take the sack." Instead, the pass was thrown, 40 seconds were not taken off the clock, and the rest is typical cursed Detroit Lions.
 
On Saturday I read Simmons' article that said the Patriots are the clear number 1 in the league, on Sunday they lose by 20 points to the Browns.

So delicious.

Even the best teams have some rough weeks. Pats still are going to be super bowl champions this year, and at least twice more before Lord Brady retires.

I can understand that but the Pats have looked mediocre all year. Many of their wins have come from the other team self destructing. That might still be enough to make a deep playoff run but there's a high probability that some solid team won't make a mistake and will be able to beat them down, not unlike what the Browns (and the Jets) did.
 
Well as the Browns are playing themselves out of a top pick in next year's draft at the moment, and thus unlikely to get AJ Green, what other WRs are worth watching for a 1st round pick next year? I know DE is likely to be another need with Rogers probably off and WR is a big need too and I can't see the Browns using a 2nd round pick on a WR again to go along with MoMass and Robiskie if at all possible.

At Bucs fans saying the refs cost them the game, our defense was in YOUR backfield on that last run. Your shit O-line cost you the game. Tampa Bay had really one big run all game and fared much better passing so they called run plays at the end....:lol

Also, the refs are the ones that put TB in that position anyway with that gift of a PI call. If not for the Bucs ST play vs. the Falcons ST meltdown, the game wouldn't have been close.

Best in the NFC? No, Raheem, you're 3rd best in the NFC South!

One more thing, even if you score there, almost 3 minutes are left on the clock. Really trust your defense to stop our offense in a 2 minute drill?

Pretty sure we do. It's just the Raiders who don't have a 1st round pick as they traded it to the Pats.

Hasn't it been established that Simmons is mentally deficient and everyone is boggled on why he's so popular?

He's the "Twilight" of the sports world.

But yes, Browns beating Bellicheck is yummy good.

I feel better about Harris situation this morn'.

Of course he is, it's made more awesome because he's a huge homer for the Patriots which is the only reason they were number 1 in the first place.

edit: also, it's pretty obvious why Simmons is popular. He's entertaining. It's much more beneficial to be entertaining than informative.

You should feel fine about it. It's not like this was a gut decision made to save money or something. Harris has been practicing for three weeks and had yet to be activated. In short, McCarthy felt he simply was not as good as the other options on the team. Most speculate he is nowhere near 100%, health wise not to mention condition wise.

You can't have a 6th d-back who can't play special teams. Simple as that. Since Harris obviously can't play safety and isn't taking a starting CB job anytime soon, he is a liability on the roster.

This makes perfect sense. As to people worries about the Vikings claiming him.....they have THREE wins. I hope they do claim him because it means he won't go to a team with a shot at the playoffs.

The Falcons are pretty good against the run. When Weatherspoon gets back, they'll be even more solid. Pass defense, specifically on third downs remains a concern. We're ranked 26th against the pass but the vaunted Steelers D is ranked 25th against the pass.

Of course, part of that comes from teams playing from behind.

Spurlock almost single handedly beat us.

Yeah. You are correct (assuming he can't play). Timing threw me for a loop though.

And despite the lower amount he still has a pretty large contract.
Cutting him frees up $ for Tramon and everyone else.
Wouldn't be shocked if Barnetts gone next season as well assuming Bishop keeps it up.

some of those wayne fontes era lions teams were ok in the early 90s, with brett perriman, herman moore, and barry

and to the lions current plight, bad teams find a way to lose football games like they did yesterday, missing extra points, getting that stupid penalty at the end of the game by peterson, theres a reason they have been in the nfc norris cellar for the past decade

Actually, It comes from teams just not running on us. Almost all the Saints' "run" plays were screens.

We haven't allowed a runner to get farther than 14 yards all season.
 
Holy fuck. I was just talking with my wife about Carson Palmer which led me to pull up the 2003 quarterback draft class. OHMYGODWHATTHEFUCK. It has to be one of the worst draft classes in the history of football when it comes to quarterbacks.

Best part is, even in that group of clowns, fuck-ups and failures....Tony Romo still went undrafted. :lol

What's really sad is that even as bad as that class was, the QBs were pretty much picked in order of effectiveness. Sure, Palmer sucks, but a lot less than Leftwich.

If I were Cincy I'd rather have Leftwich right now. He's slow, but he's a good passer and they have a decent O-Line.
