NGSB (No Girlfriend Since Birth)

So tomorrow's my birthday and as always, my mom posts her usual birthday greetings on her Facebook account. Sure enough, she jokes about me having no girlfriend since birth (which I didn't know 'til googling it). I know it's a joke but it did sting a little bit or maybe my mom's giving me a hint.

I'll take the L, but for now I'll celebrate tomorrow like any other day.

I don't even know why I made this thread, just doing something I guess.

GAF, what say you?

Edit: My mom just replied back that it meant "Nicest Good Son & Brother"

Edit #2: Officially 24! Like everyone says go out and actually do things, it never hurts to try. At least I will anyways.
 
Jokes are easy.

Wait until your mother starts having real anxieties when she realizes she really isn't getting any grandsons or granddaughters.

Let me tell you she will say some real awkward stuff.

I've never heard of NGSB but that's actually kind of hilarious.
 
No offense, but your mom sounds.....well not nice. She should be celebrating your existence instead of pointing out what she views as a fault.

When did people start saying take the L again? I'm sure your mom meant it in a playful way, i wouldn't be too put off.

How old are you OP? One of my best friends from high school didn't have his first girlfriend until he was 30, he was a nice guy and would do anything for anyone but it just never happened, he was a bit shy and not the best around women. They're still together and are an adorable couple.

I mean, I'm sure she didn't mean anything by that, but that seems kind of...mean? Especially on something public on Facebook. Unless you're just cool with it and don't care and have no real insecurity about it.

I'm hoping you're still kinda young (high school / early college) because she's joking about it.

Parents do this thing sometimes where when they start getting super worried about it, they don't joke anymore.

Serious question.

Do you really desire a GF? or maybe you feel pressured into finding a GF, but you don't really want one?

By the wording in your post above it sounds like you do want a GF.

But at the same time some people just don't want to date.

Whatever floats your boat.

EDIT: yeah, you're age also comes into play here.
 
I'm turning 24 tomorrow and yeah, part of me wants a girlfriend but part of me is just happy being single (albeit for a pretty longtime). Like I'm 6 years to becoming a wizard.

That is kind of like running a marathon and giving up before the finish line.

Finish your stint at Hogwarts first and find a girlfriend afterwards. A girlfriend will just interfere with your studies.

It is your life man, just do what makes you happy. Forget the rest.

Surely that isn't the case. The first time I kissed a girl on the lips to whom I wasn't related, I was maybe four years old. I don't count that as my "first kiss" (that happened at 17) but it fits the "from birth" criteria.

I think maybe you're not digging deep enough.

We're the same age. I didn't have one till 23 but it's over now. I guess I beat you by a year. My mom would give me the same shit. Except she also thought the reason I didn't have one for so long must have been because I was gay. So yeah. Your mom might fear that you're gay.

OP thinks his mom is roasting him on facebook from an acronym no one has heard of before.
Turns out it means something super lovey/gushy that moms say.

Happy Birthday! If you do desire one, there are obvious avenues available to try to meet singles. Serious question would be, what issues do you face within yourself which are holding you back? If it is just not a priority, then there is that. If it something else, I'd be happy to listen and offer up thoughts.

Or even better than that, she was roasting him and when he asked about it she made that lovey/gushy meaning up on the spot
 
Happy Birthday!

My best friend didn't have a girlfriend until he was 25. He married her 6 months later. Don't do that. IMO, wait at least a year to get to know her. Don't fret about not having a girlfriend, there is no rush at all.
