I don't really see it that way if the Canucks win. A player on the losing team has only won it 5 out of 45 times. They'll award it for a lesser performance by a winning player if they can possibly get away with it.X26 said:Unless he absolutely shits the bed, it seems one this is a given: thomas is winning the conn smythe
I dont see how, thomas has been the best player period. Hes on an elite tier this seriesvatstep said:I don't really see it that way if the Canucks win. Conn Smythe reverse-jinx?vatstep said:I don't really see it that way if the Canucks win. A player on the losing team has only won it 5 out of 45 times. They'll award it for a lesser performance by a winning player if they can possibly get away with it.

Thomas and Luongo are the ONLY two players left that can even remotely be considered. I just don't think it's out of the question for Luongo to get it if he plays one/two more good game(s) and wins. I can see them ignoring the games in Boston.Socreges said:Conn Smythe reverse-jinx?
I would have agreed with you a week ago, but Luongo shit the bed twice (even though he wasn't necessarily bad), Henrik hasn't been consistent in this series (nor produced much), and Kesler has slowed down a lot since the Nashville series (pretty sure he's got a groin injury). Thomas should be the favourite right now, regardless of which team wins.

Well, it helps. It's only a guaranteed point when the coach is pulled and the team gets a 7th player. But that occasionally leads to suspensions and fines.dream said:But really, I don't understand how it's not a guaranteed point when you have one extra man than the other team has.
Fair enough.vatstep said:Thomas and Luongo are the ONLY two players left that can even remotely be considered. I just don't think it's out of the question for Luongo to get it if he plays one/two more good game(s) and wins. I can see them ignoring the games in Boston.
Not a reverse-jinx. I would be proud of Thomas if he were to get it, win or lose, but Giguere accepting it in 2003 was probably the saddest thing I've ever seen and I don't really know if I want a memory like that of our own.

Ugh, don't remind me. That's exactly how the Jets beat us in 2012.Revenant said:not to mention when the puck hits the hidden sensor on the ice hidden before each game that triggers the "multi-puck" mode. That's when things really get crazy.

Revenant said:better yet in over time, they pack explosives in the puck that trigger only when a goal is scored.
Hockey is for keeps man.

Why is this team so obsessed with how Thomas plays?JWong said:OH! LUONGO BURN!!!
He said if Thomas played in the paint, he would have saved it. "I would have made the save."
Hahahahahaha!
because Thomas is the best player right now and they are trying to invent mistakesvatstep said:Why is this team so obsessed with how Thomas plays?
The reporters are obsessed with Thomas, not the Canucks. They're just answering questions.vatstep said:Why is this team so obsessed with how Thomas plays?
Because the media keep asking them about it?vatstep said:Why is this team so obsessed with how Thomas plays?

Hopefully Boston can pull a 2009 Pens (Still Bitter about that) and win the next 2 games but I don't see it happening, if they are going to lose though, I want Vancouver to win on the road, not at home.

Well, Thomas hasn't changed anything about the way he plays in three playoff runs, so I don't know why this has suddenly become such a big thing (it started after Game 1). I'm sure the media is posing the questions in certain ways, but they're not forcing Vigneault to ask the league for "clarification" about his play/positioning stuff like that. But it's the chicken and the egg, I guess.Socreges said:The reporters are obsessed with Thomas, not the Canucks. They're just answering questions.
And no one forced Julien to comment on Lapierre, right? Doesn't mean he's obsessed. Just coaches using the media to get a bit of pull on the officiating when they perceive unfairness.vatstep said:but they're not forcing Vigneault to ask the league for "clarification" about his play/positioning stuff like that.

I just got back from a beer run down Main. A dozen blocks of everybody honking their asses off, people dancing on the sidewalks and some dude in nothing but a blue speedo and t-shirt waving a huge flag at the middle of the intersection of Main and 14th.

I just realized that, if we go to game 7, I'm working until 8 on the 15th. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.
Win in Boston then, Canucks! If we go to game 7 now, I'm gonna be so mad.
Dude has a .965 SV% in the series so they're trying anything and everything to throw him off his game.vatstep said:Why is this team so obsessed with how Thomas plays?
Oh. Actually that should still be pretty good. Much better than working a retail shift at what will certainly be an empty mall. My friend worked Boston Pizza for the Gold Medal game and said it was a blast. You'll be able to rush downtown for the parade / riot afterwards.Leeness said:It's a brand new job and I want to keep it. I can't pull that right now.![]()

At least it's a restaurant, so that means it'll probably be full of fans, and we have big screen HDTVs so I don't miss anything.
I just won't be able to be downtown.![]()

Canucks-GAF Meet-Up of DESTINY
When: Monday, Game 6, 4:00pm
Where: TaBA
How: PM me to RVSP and I'll link you to the Facebook event page.
Alright Canucks-GAF.
Elimination-game time boys. If there was ever a time to be downtown in anticipation for history to be made, then it's Monday. Let's actually try and get this meet-up done right and better than the last one. Forget about CBC Plaza, that place is an utter no go at this point with how packed it gets.
So my thought is, let's meet up at a bar or restaurant. We'll pick one, and hopefully, someone won't have work and will be able to get there to save a table.
Any other suggestions, throw them out.
