So, McPhee said that Boudreau is safe last week, and now Leonsis says that McPhee is safe (and will leave any coaching change decisions to him). He even went as far as to reference some stat that Boudreau has the best record of any coach after his first 250 games. I don't think that includes the playoffs...

No end in sight for Caps fans.
Someone should ask him what it's like to have his record-breaking coach be completely out-coached by a rookie head coach.

17-20 in the playoffs.

All clowns.

Let me run the show.

The EA sports NHL11 predictions were 8-for-8 in the 1st round, and so far 3-for-4 in the 2nd round.

If Detroit wins Game 7 they're perfect through the first 2 rounds.

Believe.

I'm 8-for-8 and 3-for-4 as well, and I picked the Sharks.

He's picked the Sharks for this whole series since the beginning. I do think San Jose will pull it out though, it will be a close game for sure, but even though I think Detroit deserves this series win like I thought Chicago did, Sharks will win it.
Almost no one in the media picked the Sharks to win this series. Hell on ESPN only one of their writers picked them. Of course you feel like the Wings deserve to win, you're a Wings fan. It was hard to tell at the beginning of this series though where you said you didn't even care about watching the games anymore.

Nobody picked Tampa either.

Hmmm, both San Jose/Detroit vs. Vancouver would be great,
but Datsyuk vs Kesler would be god damn epic.

Best 2-way forwards vs each other...
Ugh. I want to see Pavs destroy Kesler all series if the Sharks make it.

On the plus side for the Sharks tomorrow, Clowe is looking like he might be returning. If he is, this is FANTASTIC fucking news, love Clowe so much.

Was just watching an interview with Howard after the game last night and he mentioned that Vlady stopped by that morning.

Sorry Sharks fans, you are not stopping the inspiration of Konstantinov! I can only imagine the Wings would of had a couple more cups with him.

That was a really cool video. Everyone should check it out. That guy was a monster on the ice.

Fuck man what a touching video that was on Vlady. Really puts a lot of things into perspective after watching that and it's amazing to see him keep going at it after so many others would have quit ages ago.

It should also be mentioned how that's a GREAT woman in his corner too.

There's only one real Pavs and it doesn't end with -elski

Yeah, she actually abandoned him ages ago and now lives in New Jersey. He lives in assisted living somewhere in the Detroit area.

And I didn't, I was quite busy with exams for the first 5 games or so, so my time watching them was limited, now I'm done so I have time to watch the games now.

Why are the Atlanta Thrashers possibly moving to Winnipeg? Whats going on here? The team isn't even that old.
Because the ownership group has been trying to unload the team for years and can't find a local buyer. They've reached the point where they refuse to continue to lose money on the team. Enter True North, a group who would buy the team and move it to Winnipeg. Maybe.

Assuming Bettman doesn't get a hair up his ass and pull some ridiculous stunt like he is in Phoenix.....

Annoying as hell - I really want Phoenix to go back to Winnipeg and have the club history stay intact, ie. Jets/Coyotes/Jets. Thrashers have more upside over the next few years, but call me old school - the Jets should reform as they once were.

Why not move Columbus instead? They lost $25 million dollars last year (holy shit)
The Columbus Dispatch’s Aaron Portzline has some reasons why the team has bled money.

"There are four main reasons for the sharp increase in losses: rising player salaries, plummeting attendance, a 25 percent cut in the Blue Jackets’ revenue sharing check, and the ongoing (endless?) lease agreement issues between the Blue Jackets and Nationwide Arena."

Sounds like a familiar recipe for a team to be relocated. In this case, the Blue Jackets are under no serious threat to be moved. Owner John P. McConnell is doing his part to try to keep things straight in Columbus. The one solution to try and fix things there though is simple: Win.

What I don't get is how the hell Bettman can possibly claim to be consistent if he doesn't. If he just lets Atlanta go what is the justification he gives for keeping Phoenix. When random Atlanta fan calls up Bettman on his radio show and says "Why can't I watch my favorite team anymore when those asshats in Phoenix get a giant handout from the league?" What is he gonna say?

BUMP moving Columbus. That team had incredible attendance it's first ten years. Like three-fourths of the league, if you give Columbus a winning Franchise they will watch. This isn't like Florida/Atlanta, who would ignore a Playoff team.

I hear you, but the Jackets had a really strong fan base early on that has been really just withering because the team keeps collapsing. (Am I wrong? I seem to recall a lot of press about the team and growing fan base). The lease issues are surprising to me considering how the area was begging to get a team in there though. The economy issue is clearly still hitting hard.

The Thrashers, on the other hand, hardly seem ready to acknowledge they have a hockey team let alone that they might lose one.

Is this based on anything other than personal opinion? Thrashers attendance was up this year I thought. I think we (and the league) should evaluate teams by objective measures like money lost personally.

Totally agree. It was insulting when they were retiring Jets player numbers in Phoenix.

Yeah, I think Columbus could still be a decent market. They need to start making the playoffs though.

They've lost $130M in the last 5 years.

Bettman is too busy worrying about the Western front not knowing of the creeping enemy on the East. he will surrender one soon. Bettman is clearly not a fan of military history.

And what is that in comparison to Columbus? Or any other team for that matter. I'm all for moving the Thrashers, but I don't think a team like Columbus should just get a pass for having a perceived fan base.

Completely agree. I really don't like the concept of any team BUT the Coyotes moving back to Winnipeg.

Quebecois needs to get their shit together and get a new NHL arena set up already.

Columbus was losing ~10M a year until this year. The Blue Jackets attendance has almost always been way higher than Atlanta as well.

Yeah they'll just get the Bloc to start up some separatist shit and con the government for money to build an arena.

oh wait....

NHL Average Attendance since the lockout (2005/2006/2007/2008/2009/2010)
Coyotes: #22 / #24 / #29 / #28 / #30 / #29
Thrashers: #23 / #21 / #22 / #29 / #28 / #27
Jackets: #15 / #19 / #28 / #25 / #22 / #28

Team Losses:
Coyotes: Losing between 20-50m annually, have never turned a profit.
Thrashers: Have lost at least 130m since the lockout.
Jackets: Have lost close to 80m since the lockout.

USA Today: Thrashers season ticket figures between 6000-7000
Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Offers not from local investors, True North may be willing to pay $110m for team plus $60m relocation fee.
AJC: Record attendance lows, litigation continues amongst owners.
Thrashers Prospect Annex: Van down by the River.
Youtube: Thrashers Season Ticket holder revolt 2008

I omitted a ton of opinion pieces and commentary from the usual places, it's pretty hard not to trip over sports commentary that the Thrashers are either invisible at home or on their way out.
