Yet you didn't watch the conference finals?

I wasn't insinuating the CFs weren't good. Just complaining about waiting until Wednesday.

I wrote a paragraph or two about why I didn't watch hockey for the past two weeks, but I just erased it. It's an annoying mix of stress and school and family and televisions and cable and whatever else that I don't wanna talk about. I just wanna say... I didn't mean to suggest the CF hockey was bad.

Sorry man, you don't need to explain yourself. Makes sense now. Hopefully you got that shit behind you and can prioritize hockey as everyone should.

Nothing that bad - I played a bunch of video games to let off steam. But yes - I'm really excited to watch the Cup finals.

That goal still hurts.

Me too man...

It hurts my liver when I think about how fucking drunk I got that night and it hurts my vocal chords thinking about how much I killed them when I was yelling in celebration on the street.

Can you just stay in Vancouver forever? You pretty much belong here.

It's gonna feel like 42C tomorrow with the humidity, you guys are still talking hockey?? Fuck.

I had to doublecheck that...holy crap! May need to wear short sleeves tomorrow at work...

So it's what we all knew but still:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=367336

The Atlanta Thrashers to Winnipeg situation has narrowed to a point where it's quite possible there could be an announcement as early as Tuesday.

However, according to sources there is still considerable legal work being done which may require another day or two to clean up.

If there is no announcement Tuesday, the next likely target would be Thursday.

Once an agreement has been reached, True North is expected to launch a season ticket drive.

Marvie queue up the bart freaking out and kissing his dog gif.

Plinko said:
Again, I still think there is no reason to announce this before the Cup Finals are over.
They have to do a season ticket drive in Winnipeg, so they can't wait until the end of the Finals. If it goes 7, they'd have less than a week (and only 3 business days) until the Board of Governors meeting to get the ticket drive done.

From Twitter:

Bob McKenzie said:
WPG lawyers signed off on their end. ATL lawyers doing their due diligence now. Soon as they sign off, deal is done, pending board approval.

If ATL lawyers sign off today, announcement tomorrow morning. If ATL lawyers don't sign off today, drags out another day or two.

I thought I read somewhere that Manny will play in game 1. Has it actually been confirmed?

So f'ing awesome that he's coming back. He'll have a very limited role, but just having him on the bench is going to be something. INTANGIBLES BABY

Did Mark Recchi clear him to play?

Ah...makes sense.

For those that follow the business of hockey heavily, does anyone know when the likely breaking point for the Florida Panthers would be? Should we expect it to be next year's discussion? Or should we see all the troubled teams start lining up the second they see the NHL allows Atlanta to move?

CrazedArabMan said:
Bleh, I would have rather have had Phoenix move back than Atlanta.

I still think Phoenix is next to move. In 2 years I bet they're in Quebec. Florida then moves to either Hamilton or somewhere in the northern United States.

fallout said:
While I agree to a point, I'd rather have an NHL team than no NHL team.

It was more along the lines of tradition of it being the same team to move back, I'm glad that we could see a Winnipeg team now, as long as they still call it the Jets, if not, count me out.

The Panthers' new ownership took over in late 2009, so not for a while. The NHL makes owners sign an agreement not to move teams for 7 years after they buy them.

Holding up to your name? I would like to see them called the Jets too honestly, but it's certainly not going to stop me from supporting them if they don't have the same name. I think the Thrashers have a better growth potential overall as well so I'm really excited that this looks to finally be happening. I work almost right at Portage and Main so I'll be down there celebrating once the announcement is made.

Really?

No, I just really like the Jets name, I will be happy to see Winnipeg get a team back, but since I'm not from the area, I would like it to be named the Jets over the Moose or whatever they call it, I would also just want to get me a new Jets jersey also. :D

In a way it reminds me of what happened around my area to the Toledo Storm in the ECHL, they got sold and didn't play for a year, came back and were renamed the Toledo Walleye, come on now, that name sucks compared to the Storm. I'm more with tradition as well and that is another reason as to why I would like to see the Jets back. But whatever happens, happens I guess.

fallout, are you in Winnipeg or Edmonton?
Winnipeg, but I grew up in Kenora. Jets fan as a kid until they moved when I was 12. Disillusioned for a number of years. Tried following the Leafs briefly, then became an Oilers fan around 16/17. I blame Ryan Smyth, mostly.

Yeah, I don't disagree that it's not the ideal situation. And while I think the Trashers have potential, I really do prefer the build and talent of the Coyotes.

Just reminding you that having two teams is really lame. You'll have to abandon the Oilers!

Heck I would stay with the Oilers, they are going to be really good in a few years with all of these high draft picks they keep getting, they are like the New Pens. ;)

Crazed - Absolutely
Arab - ???
Man - Unlikely

Care to shed some light?

Is that going to be your new team once the Wings officially begin to suck for the first time in your life?

Boston in 6.

But the Nucks will probably win and just want to say a pre-emptive FUCK YOU to Tabris for almost single-handedly making me wish complete failure upon what used to be my "2nd team" (if there is such a thing) and for making it impossible to look my good friend and diehard-Vancouver fan in the eye when Henrik Sedin lifts the cup and say an honest 'Congratulations' to him.

So Tabris: FUCK YOU.

Fixed :p

Actually how I got my name is a rather short story and has does not have any meaning related to myself at all, weird.

Tampa's my backup team because of Yzerman, and I like Stamkos and St. Louis. However I won't have to worry about that for another 20 years or so... I hope :(

Ah my bad, I was reading your original post thinking you were from Winnipeg so thought you meant you wouldn't support them here in the city unless they were explicitly called the Jets.

Yeah I don't know many gun-toting Republican Arabs. But I do know some gun-toting Republicans that think all Arabs are crazed!

Haha, man you are so funny sometimes I tell you.

Also for the bolded I do actually know one, though haven't talked to him in a while...

Hey! My wife is from Kenora. Small world-ish.
