NHL February |OT| FIRE ALL THE THINGS

Gossip happens with sports that are in places that actually give a shit. Canadian teams always have more of this type of shit because hockey is a big deal there. Look at the US, there is so much drama and gossip surrounding the NBA, NFL, and MLB because that's what people care about here. Also, lol the Stars.

Psssh, like Lebron would have played hockey for Cleveland.

lol Niemi got injured in practice today. Go Greiss, now's your chance!

Official reason is he took a puck to a "sensitive area."

Walk it off Nemo.

Chicago needs to win tonight. They've played like shit against the Oilers all year. Gotta get as many points on this 9 game road trip as they can.

Winnipeg is a joke. Running a player out of town because of gossip...the city doesn't deserve a team.

Yes, because a vocal minority of people are dissing a player on our team, and he is clearly fleeing in terror from said angry mob. THAT is clearly justification for us not having an NHL franchise again. It's all over boys, guess it's time to head back to Atlanta.

I'll be sure to remember your comment when I see your team lose to the Jets on March 14th here. Look and listen for me on TV. I'll be the one booing.

P.S. I miss when the team was the Minnesota NorthStars.

EDIT: as a sidenote, Chicago must destroy the Oilers tonight. I work with this REALLY annoying Oilers fan and he thinks each and every year that they are the second coming of the Oilers circa 1985. If only for it to shut his insane evangelical talk about Taylor Hall et al for a little while.

So, if the rumours about Carter being on the trade block are true (from Blue Jackets beat reporter Aaron Portzline), does he get traded for a similar return or have (i) his play (ii) his injures (iii) Columbus' position in the standings negatively affected his value?

I think another thing your forgetting is (iv) his contract. Cap hit is fine. But 9 years is tough for teams to swallow.

Definitely. It looks even worse now that he's in the midst of an injury plagued season.

My guess is that instead of a good young forward + top-10 pick + 3rd round pick, Howson will be forced to settle for significantly less.

Well if they can't get the return they want for him then why not keep him around?

Guy doesn't want to be there and doesn't fit the team at all.

Howson is such a dumb shit. Im joe nobody, just some jerk off sitting in my parents basement. I'm barely able to run a fantasy team. And even I could have told him that Jeff Carter wasn't the answer at center for Nash.

Analysts estimate that the Jackets will lose upwards of $25m this season due to increased payroll and other expenses, which more than doubles their 2010/2011 operating loss.

It makes sense to shed salary and try to limit losses since they know that they won't be receiving any playoff revenue.

Plus, there have been rumours all season that Carter is unhappy in Columbus and, more recently, that Howson is willing to move him.

Jesus, remind me never to get on Winnipeg's bad side.

I would be willing to bet almost none of the Colombus players like being somewhere where they have no chance to compete.

It sucks, that franchise could make a lot of money if they could ice a decent team.

Edmonton has played pretty well against Chicago this year. We'll see how it goes.

I've tried and tried but I can't think of one reason why he would be unhappy.

DIS.

I said it last summer, why the fuck would Carter be the center that Nash has been looking for all his career? Carter is a shoot first guy and doesn't set up anyone up, that's not what Nash needed.

The owners and management must be feeling pretty terrible right now. They loaded up in the off-season with the sole intention of making the playoffs and they ended up much worse off than before. It really seems like this team is destined to relocate.

I think thats part of the problem. Their goal was "make the playoffs" instead of "long term success". So they tried to cut corners. If I was them, instead of making a knee jerk trade and FA signing, I would have fired my scouting staff and replaced it with actual scouts.

The only scouts they can afford are girl scouts.

What's the ownership situation like? They seem to have stable management, but I don't really follow the Blue Jackets to really know.

Not sure if there's any serious ownership issues (yet) but they're losing a tonne of money every year so I don't think they're very happy right now.

I'm actually really impressed how much better Jagr looks lately. I really hope he's fully recovered. The difference is fucking huge. When he's hurt he looks like Leino. When he's healthy he looks like Jagr.

I think they fired all their scouts a few years ago. Except for Nash, pretty much everyone they drafted is a bust in the 1st round.

I really doubt Carter wants to be there, considering how he sulked after the trade.

Long contract and it seems he's always injured, tough to find a taker.

I feel like Doug Wilson would be stupid enough to make an offer. Carter ain't what we need though, go after Tuomo Ruutu, DW.

Yeah, getting rid of the one star player they have isn't going to help them at all. They need to dump the ridiculous contracts for average players they have.
..I meant help Detroit ;-) I think is the active player with the most points against the Wings or something like that. Always kills us.
