NHL February |OT| FIRE ALL THE THINGS

They flunked 2009, came back with Duchene and actually looked pretty good. Not a slow 'rebuild' at all and very reminiscent of Ottawa this season.

I'm sure Anderson was a factor, I remember the playoff game when Colorado beat San Jose 1-0, Anderson stopped 50+ shots and the game winner was Boyle scoring on his own net. I can't imagine a better example of a goalie single handedly winning a game. He's certainly a big reason why Sens are in the playoff race, when he's hot he's practically unbeatable.

Our defence is brutal.

I'm still wondering what happened to Buffalo and L.A. this year. They were supposed to be good.

It is funny to me that people were talking about both the Blue Jackets and Kings being improved this year and the Flyers taking a big step back. Funny how that all worked out.

I pray GMGM is lying.

We’re not interested in moving anybody,” McPhee said. “We have a solid team when we get healthy and we’ll see how healthy we are 10 days from now and what we can expect from Mike and Nick.

Solid team my ass. We still need to get of some deadwood whenever Backstrom and Green come back. We're linked to Vermette. I'd rather trade for Ribeiro. If we could sign Semin to an extension at a much lower price I'd keep him. He's been the best player since DH took over. Now it is just time for Ovechkin to go back to his pre-Vancouver self.

I don't that's the case, rather it was more like "this is a different look for this team". They were still being pegged as contenders though.

Nooo Chris Stewart is ours, you guys get Carter.

Murray already said he's not trading any of our prospects and I doubt he wants to mess with the chemistry of the team.

If we stay in the playoff race we'll either do nothing or get some player for depth.

I don't know about LA but Buffalo is more proof you can't buy a winner.

Hopefully the Sabres beat the Habs tonight.

Sorry bud, after watching last nights game I'm convinced we're actively going for last in the conference.

I guess. Through the years the Sabres have been pretty smart about getting the most for their self-imposed cap. Then they got a new owner who said to spend to the cap. We acquired Regehr through trade, and just signed Leino and Ehrhoff in free agency. I don't think 2 UFA signings (at 4M and 4.5M per) is really trying to buy the Cup.

Fun stat: Quick has allowed only 1 goal 9 times this season and still lost.
Fun stat: The amount of cocaine consumed by Mike Richards since being traded to the Kings is greater than the Los Angeles budget deficit.

I wouldn't say they tried to buy the cup. However, having access to all that money looked like a small child with their first 100-dollar bill in a candy store.

And now we're all so disappointed the money is gone.

This franchise has some growing up to do.

Yeah, there is no way he'll jump the gun here. I'd expect him to stay pat unless he comes across a deal he can't refuse. Which would have to be a young controllable player.

Ottawa has too good a thing going right now to ruin it because they are "unexpectably" in the playoffs.

:lol Agreed. Looking at their acquisitions since Pegula, I'd say they had 50% success rate. Boyes and Leino have been unmitigated disasters since their arrivals. It's just the continuing trend of forwards coming to Buffalo and not being able to find any sort of success. I don't know whether that's on Regier or Ruff, but they have been atrocious at bringing in NHL talent and integrating them into their system.

On the other hand, I really like Regehr and Ehrhoff on the backend.

Yeah, I have to agree with that percentage.

Slightly related: I saw some discussion on other boards about Stafford and Ruff on the bench last night. Apparently Ruff was laying into him pretty hard and Stafford yelled I know, I know!" while staring straight ahead. Did you see this?

I mean... That's not a good sign. Can Lindy handle forwards?

It was during the timeout they called after the third goal. Honestly I wasn't able to watch a ton of the second period yesterday so I didn't get a good look at it. I just know Lindy was flipping out at his unit on the ice. During the intermission they mentioned that Stafford was getting worn out by Ruff on the bench, so that's probably what they were talking about.

So, are the Habs going to pay respects to Gary Carter? Would be nice if they did, I mean the retired Expos' numbers are in the Bell Centre as well.

Eh, going from a true Cup contender to completely botching the re-signings of their top players in 2007 and 2008, isn't exactly what I would consider "smart." Though, I'll admit that Holmgren and Sather did screw the Sabres over with over-valued contracts to Briere and Drury.

Well it looks like Z is out for some random reason (and he has been on amazing lately), and Howard is not returning yet. So I have to say the streak has a good possibility of ending today unfortunately. :(
Tatar with Emmerton and Mursak tonight... The Tatar Tot line is born!

Free tickets for tonights game, I received. I intend to have a good time, despite the incoming habs win

Nice. Try and enjoy. Last time I went to a game the fans were really starting to turn on the team. By now everyone is probably resigned to the fact that we suck, so hopefully it's a better atmosphere.

This sucks. Time for the role players to step up.

Probable lines:

Lucic-Krejci-Pouliot (I hate Pouliot on this line)
Seguin-Bergeron-Marchand
Caron-Kelly-Paille
Thornton-Campbell-Hennessey

Rask starts tonight, Finland rejoices!

Not a lot of options left here....

Fortunately though, the B's big November/December and the Northeast's (and Southeast's) lack of real competition (for the top spot) allow the Bruins a chance to just cruise into a division win and basically the #2 seed in the East.

However, not having Horton for the playoffs would definitely suck.
