Fortunately though, the B's big November/December and the Northeast's (and Southeast's) lack of real competition (for the top spot) allow the Bruins a chance to just cruise into a division win and basically the #2 seed in the East.

However, not having Horton for the playoffs would definitely suck.

tru dat.

I'd give Horton plenty of time to recover and hope that he and Peverley can come back in time for a tune up before the playoffs start.

Can't really expect much for a Canadian newspaper with the word "Sun" in the title.
Definitely. They made the article to generate some pageviews nothing more.
No interest in defending The Sun, but I've got no idea what the problem is with this article. The subtitle is a bit inflammatory, but otherwise it seemed pretty damn tame.

if he's out all of the six weeks Peverley would pretty much be available at the start of the playoffs at the earliest. But yeah, hopefully he comes back in March so he can get his legs back. Same goes for Horton.

We're SOL without them; we don't have the depth we had last year

It just always seems like Vancouver thinks there's this huge rivalry with the Leafs, but it's just another game to us. Why does this article even warrant being written? If we had a columnist write something like this for every team we faced, they'd be laughed off the paper.

Habs' return for Gill shows that there must have been pretty high demand and the price for rentals is not going to be cheap. Hopefully the Canucks can snag Moen without losing much.

First off, I don't see anything suggesting a huge rivalry. It's just Pap prodding the self-ascribed 'Leaf Nation' (we've also got a tonne of Leafs fans here) and drawing attention to the unreal 9-year winning streak. And besides the intro it's a normal article. Seems pretty fair to me, but I'm not surprised you're a bit wounded.

most people in this thread had the habs over the Leafs.

I put the Leafs ahead of the Habs. Had the Sens in dead last, though. Whoops.

This signing just means Suter is gone next year followed by Weber the year after!

Both to Detroit of course :p
You mention Weber-Detroit a lot, but so far as I know there's zero chance of that happening any time soon. You guys could get Suter since he'll be a UFA, but the Preds would never trade Weber's RFA rights to Detroit.

You know the Habs got Geoffrion for a reason too :lol

Saw this on HFboards:

His paternal grandfather, Bernie "Boom-Boom" Geoffrion, is also a Hall of Famer and the man who invented the slap shot. (Hence the nickname "Boom-Boom".

Geoffrion was close to his grandfather, and was the last person "Boom Boom" spoke to before his death in 2006. Geoffrion wears #5 in his honor, while his teammates have nicknamed him "Boomer", after his grandfather.

Nice. Try and enjoy. Last time I went to a game the fans were really starting to turn on the team. By now everyone is probably resigned to the fact that we suck, so hopefully it's a better atmosphere.

Yeah... I'm not expecting much in terms of atmosphere haha

I'm just going to enjoy a good night out with my dear ol' Dad.

We'll have a good time either way, I'd imagine.

I was kidding if you couldn't tell, next time I'll add a /joking tag just for you. I know Preds would not trade their top defenseman to a division rival, and I think Suter will resign with the Preds as well as they seem to be more aggressive recently with building a solid team and losing one of their top defenseman to free agency wouldn't be the way to go. Not to mention they have a solid enough team to make the playoffs this year and possibly for a few more years.

Saw this on HFboards:

He won't be able to wear 5 in Montreal since I believe they retired it for Bernie, though they may allow it because he is his grandson though, should be interesting.

Holy shit, Gauthier realized the team are selling this year and actually got prospects back? Hell has officially frozen over. I basically expected a 2nd and that's it, and anything else is gravy. This should help the team tank as well seeing as our PK should start to falter. Look's like I'm cheering for the preds in the playoffs. Great pick up for Preds btw, they'll be a defensive force in the playoffs.

Pretty crazy stat on Gill "10 of 10 this year killing 5 on 3. Only 1 allowed,Gill was in box."

Gill for a 2nd would have been robbery by the Preds. Strength of the trade turns on Geoffrion, who I don't know much/anything about.

Please do. That subtle genius of yours is impossible to detect.

Blake's a good grinder with very little offensive upside. Sure, he scored a Hattie last year, but he stunk it up horribly here. I'm glad he's gone as we have better people to fill that role, however I do hope he pans out in MTL. Couldn't be in a better place.
