In this thread we shall talk about as we love, but not the obvious choices.

I have always liked this, the Mitsubishi Starion, I suspect the name is the result of an error not translation.

A friend had a former taxi cab crown vic in high school. They build them like a tank and the inside is huge but I thought it would just be really boring and slow. yet they still manage to be fun under the speed limit when you have suspension like a water bed and 7 teens crammed inside.

Chrysler Crossfire and Mazda RX-8. Ahead (or behind?) their time styling wise. Not many cars can look that pretty without trying too hard.

Crown Vics (specially the Police Interceptor models) are everything but that.

And indeed, they are tanks

Large, comfy tanks.

I still want to own one, but with this gas prices......... DAMN

I´m not sure if it fits but I don´t know anyone who knows of this car.
I think its really good looking and one of my absolute favorite cars.
The Jaguar XJ220

I had a 1995 Toyota Camry that was a coupe. And was a 5 speed manual. Not that wild of a ride, but I've never seen another Camry coupe in my 14 years of driving :D

Apparently - and this might be a slightly racist urban legend - it was the result of the Japan office's pronunciation of "Stallion". According to this the name was relayed to the American office over the phone.

EDIT - Just checked and Mitsubishi's official line is that its short for Star of Orion.

I had one of these. It's a fucking beast. In Spain, where I grew up, everybody knows this car, because Rallying is really really popular. Here in Germany, nobody seems to remember those.

Same with this beauty, the Lancia Delta HF Integrale:

I had one of these, too. I swapped it for my Opel Calibra Turbo and just had it for a week and gave it back, because the car would make banging noises when reversing. It turned out it was a broken bracket that cost like €20 to fix. I regret parting with this car. It was really really lovely. Shit electrics and cheap interior, but looking at the dash and center console with a whopping TEN gauges made me smile like silly. And I loved the weird way the rev counter was layed out.

Must have seen at least 5 of these burnt out when I was a kid.

That was one of my dream cars when I was younger. I used to import the british MAX-POWER tuning magazine to Spain, and it was all Escort and Sapphire Cossies. Man, are these cars awesome. A neighbour had the last edition of the Escort Cossie, I think it was called Monaco or Monte Carlo or something and didn't come with the whale tail.

My other dreams cars where the Subaru Impreza and the Lancia Integrale. I did get to own both of these, yeahhhh :)

Man, I miss living in Spain and going to the rallyes all the time :(

The Holden Commodore VT (1997-1999)

Aussie born and bred, the grunt of the engine even in the weakest family model sounds superb.

These are common as all hell here in Australia, but I'd doubt they're anywhere else in any significant numbers.

I like the VW Rabbit Pickup (also known as the VW Caddy) for its existence

Same with the Chevy SSR
This thing is so bizarre and stupid that it makes me happy that somehow somebody managed to convince the GM bean counters that making this thing was a good idea. I'd love to hear the justification.

GM actually has a history of occasionally releasing things that make no sense whatsoever.

Like the GMC Typhoon and Syclone. Car and Driver drag raced a Syclone against a Ferrari 348ts and the Syclone won.

The Cadillac CTS-V Wagon is probably the most recent example of GM going crazy
