I am saying we don't know the hard facts. Maybe he was provoked to send those pictures. Maybe the women are lying or trying to get revenge on this person. There are litterlly no facts besides hearsay.

What evidence do you want? It sounds like you want the women who he harassing to post their logs of him harassing them? The whole reason this is anonymous as it is, is because of the systematic targeting of female victims on the net. Notice everybody referring to the situation are talking on behalf of their friends.

Then scrub personal info from the logs, post them anonymously. This seems to be pretty credible so far, but I need to see the severity of it, some hard proof, before I'm ready to blacklist this guy who has, until this point, had a pretty clean track record.

This whole burn at the stake is ridiculous. Some dude probably sent some pictures to some females whom all may or may not have been gaming journalists and probably fired on them hard and now people are saying he was sexually harassing them. Maybe this dude is a sex addict like Tiger Woods. I just feel until the facts are out there, then this is hardly a story. Fuck, even Bill O'Reily didn't get this much attention.
Some dude was going around telling people the sky is blue, when in fact the sky is blue.

Man those evil women amirite. I feel like I'm on the MGTOW subreddit with some of these fucking posts.

I don't know the hard facts but maybe you're full of shit.

Hows that? None of us or I should say maybe 99% of us have not seen actual DMs from this dude. He could have really done it, but until anyone sees the actual posts or DMs to make a educated judgment they should just chill on it. I am not defending the dude, but I don't know all the facts and I will keep judgment until the facts are there or just continue to dogpile on me instead of getting what I am actually saying.

I am done with this post. I will go post about video games on this video game forum instead of gasp about some dumb shit.

Yes. It's a conspiracy. These scheming women and their SJW white knight buddies got together and decided yesterday was the day to strike! And it's all so plausible too as every story reinforced the previous story.

Those clever girls!

Ben has done nothing wrong so please revert your attention back to the person that has. Ben has the right to deal with his issues privately and him making a public statement saying that he does not condone Nicks actions and supports the victims is a positive thing and he's done all he needs to do.

Was going to basically post this after reading through much of this thread. Concentrate on the actual issue of Nick being a shit bag instead of dragging anyone who doesn't go far enough in calling Nick out through the dirt.

Literally look at what you just typed....

Games on this site barely get much feedback anymore, Yet threads like these trigger everyone, Even without the total facts.

Didn't take long for it turn around into blaming white males.

It's cute that the snowflake can't take a thread existing that he could just ignore.

The gaming industry, when even supposed progressive websites have people like this. You can defend Polygon all you want, but this was an "open secret" in the industry, so someone higher up in there knew about it and did nothing.

One less gaming website/channel to visit.

Ah, I see.

"Hearsay" is going to be the buzzword that let's people retreat from reading between the lines.

Greetings fellow gamer. Did you know there are many game threads on NeoGAF that you can peruse at your leisure instead of thread whining? Just look for the helpful "OT" in the subject line. If this too hard for you maybe you can make more laughable posts about the victimization of white males and see what happens. Have a great day!

edit: oh, something did happen lol

As long as we're in agreement that both parties can't prove guilt or innocence.

Purely from an analytical point of view in general providing evidence favors the acuser in the sense that something specific can be provided.

The acused can't just out of thin air prove that something intangible or many intangible things didn't happen.

--

In this case this wankery over proving guilt and shit is completely unimportant because it isn't one vs. one. It's a bunch of people vs. one. And a conspiracy to take down Nick is less likely than Nick just being not socially aware how to express his horniness with strangers.

We are. Evidence in this situation is complex, not only because it might be hard to come across, not only because it might be dismissed, but also because in these sorts of situations putting forward evidence comes at the cost of your identity which is something a victim is probably not looking to disclose.

And like you say, in this particular instance it's a moot point. We have more than enough claims from enough different people that it's not hard to see that there's truth to this story.

No one is saying that you need to blacklist him or you're complicit, but why do you need to see the severity? Is there a level of sexual harrassment you're comfortable with and you're waiting to see which side he falls on?

The entire call out has been couched with *everyone* saying they didn't and don't feel safe with airing this stuff because of the potential backlash. Which, considering the recent history with games personalities on the internet, is an incredibly fucking valid way to feel. If you need """Hard Proof""" for this to mean anything to you, then just move on. Or, alternatively, look at what we have:

multiple women accusing Nick of similar if not the same actions, other people corroborating those accusations and supporting the victims, and his long term close friends denouncing what he has done going so far as to entirely cancel their long running podcast

None of that stuff happens arbitrarily and Nick Robinson is not the person who deserves the benefit of the doubt in this situation

Why is it so much easier to believe women putting their careers at jeopardy by speaking out are lying than a clearly entitled dude was being shitty and gross?

I don't know if it was ever answered but according to his twitter from a few days ago he was going to the Polygon retreat today. Whether or not he went is a whole other thing

Not necessarily. While there are a lot of cases where people look back regretting that they downplayed warning signs or dismissed warning comments as not a big deal, there are a lot of cases where people are legitimately blindsided too. There's a lot of layers to how and to whom women choose to share information regarding people who have harassed them. It's not usually as simple as "if it was widely known among this group, that group probably knew too."

Lot of serial abusers/harassers/creeps, sure, don't realize what they are doing is wrong, and are more likely to have their actions witnessed by someone close to them or who is willing to approach someone close to them, but many also realize that what they are doing is wrong and choose to do so secretly.

Wait KiA is defending this guy? Hilarious since I would assume they'd hate this guy for being with Polygon.

I'm pretty sure they're just happy that one of their perceived enemies is being dragged and confirming that Nick is a hypocrite. They delighted in Devin Faraci being outed as an unequivocal piece of shit.

I understand that, but I'm not about to give the gaming industry the benefit of the doubt, Polygon is still being run by privileged white men.

It'll be interesting to see what Nick's response is. If screencaps drop (and they very well might within the next couple of days) I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls a Faraci.

Never been a fan of Nick, enjoyed Touch The Skyrim series more for Griffin than anything but disappointed nonetheless if true.

Damn shame theres an army of jerks out there always eager to pounce on and attempt to defame women who come forward in instances like this. Makes my heart sink to see people tweet how they're afraid and relieved that someone finally said something.

Oh totally. One would hope that this was indeed surprising to them and one would also hope that it forces them to take a real close look to see if there's anything they could have done to make it more accessible for people to feel comfortable coming forward. I think that what you have written here is an obvious first thing to look at.

I believe the women but arnt you guys curious?
Any curiosity you may have is irrelevant. This isn't a TV drama, this is real life. These women have a lot to risk by coming forward - professionally, socially, emotionally - even if they attempted to do so in an anonymous manner.

There are many cases where people don't have hard proof and still get accused as guilty. When nobody's defending Nick including his friends it's pretty obvious what happens. Further still we have no idea of the specifics of the harassment which is for the betterment of the victims, the people involved obviously know more about it than we do and there's no reason to make things public.

Can we atleast see one message with the names blurred out.

What's the point. People will interpret it to fit their own view. It's easy to discredit basically anything if you want to. The only thing that would come of sharing anything like that is a person with a crosshair on their back, even if they're just relaying a screenshot.

I'm going to wait on Vox Media, who has pledged to fight sexual harassment online, who surely will look at this because of their obligation as a company and their public stance on this topic.

But dick pics would really add some levity and help me forget that he was making people feel very bad at their place of work.
