Night Dive has given up on getting NOLF. Can't be saved due the big companies.

Last week, Night Dive founder Stephen Kick and director of business development Larry Kuperman emailed me to let me know that while they had indeed planned to re-release No One Lives Forever and its sequel, they'd hit a wall and been forced to give up. Thanks to the ongoing inability and/or unwillingness of three publishers—Activision, 20th Century Fox, and in particular Warner Bros.—to determine who owned the game, Night Dive is currently abandoning its efforts to revive No One Lives Forever.

rest at the link. Long, sad story.

I knew there would be bad news...if the guys who got System Shock 2 can't get this, there's little hope.

I really wanted this, needed to experience how good they were. Only got to see it through videos and I definitely missed out it seems.

"No, Night Dive, fuck you. We will not let you do all the work and set up some kind of licensing deal so we can make money by doing nothing from selling these cult classics again."

If you want to play them bad enough then just get a hold of the discs. Apparently they work fine on modern operating systems, with some fixes.

I no longer have the games so I can't say how well it all works. Maybe someone else can comment on it.

So is there really no way to play this? Other than getting a disc on eBay?

Guess I made the right choice by picking up a used copy of 2 a few months ago. Still wish more people could experience these games easily.

Was thinking pretty much the same thing
So sad, i loved those games :'(

Last I checked they were crazy expensive. Maybe that's changed, I'll look again.

I've scoped out some used book stores for years- found some great gems in there, like Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines prior to it's digital rerelease, but these never showed up.

Edit: Appears there's some copies floating around at decent prices.

Huh, Warner seemed like the only of those 3 that actually tried putting up a fight but they seemed destined to not win that battle given the way things were going. I wonder if they just realized that whatever legal bill they were going to have at the end of this wouldn't have been made up by any profits made from selling the games. sucks.

Is this series any good? I heard it was a James Bond ripoff back then. There are only 2 games from this series right? And I know its done by the FEAR developer.

Hey Night Dive, there's another amazing FPS that has never been re-released with a source code and there's been an ever bigger demand from the fanbase to do so than NOLF.

It's called Blood. Get on that shit.

Blood's source code and NOLF just can't get a break! Maybe Ed Boon can use his pull at Warner to get that end of the triforce nice and vulnerable.

...This just sucks. I didn't think Night Dive would have to give up entirely, given how they hinted at the news earlier this month.

Huh? Blood has been readily available for ages. They tend to focus on games that flat out aren't available to buy anymore.

Dont know where you have been. That shit's been on GOG for an age.

Why do you even need the license? It's a parody of 60s spy films just create a "spiritual" successor.

Edit: my bad misread and thought this was about going forward with a new game.

This is super sad. We could already have a multiplatform re-release of these cool games, but these companies can't be bothered to figure out the rights situation. If you don't even know what you own it should be fair game.

This sucks. I loved NOLF as a young lad and it's one of the few old FPS games I've gone back to every now and again.
