I always thought you were a strictly American Football guy? I'm impressed.
I always liked watching the World Cup and I had a friend in law school who got me interested in international soccer/football 5 or 6 years ago. I won't lie though, playing Winning Eleven helped immensely. I forget the version on the PS2, but that was the most fun I have ever had playing a sports game. Somehow the current versions of Fifa and Pro Evo are just not as fun.

The weird thing for me is that even though I like watching it, I don't really have a favorite team I like to follow. I am obviously going to cheer for the US in the WC (I love the gritty underdogs like Turkey a few world cups back when they were robbed by Brazil). I think I do enjoy watching the powers of international football like Man U, Barca, Real, etc. fail though. :D

You guys have no freaking idea how pumped I am for the World Cup. It's in my blood man, in my blood. My favorite sport event of forever.

So you like watching teams that can play the Beautiful game? Nothing wrong with that.
the PS2 football games were the best.

We can make it out of our group but don't expect too much after that. Hopefully the young guys (Ki Sung-Yong and Lee Chung-Yong) will provide some excitement in midfield. I have faith in Park Ji-Sung to deliver some magic, too.

Truthfully, Argentina and Nigeria will probably get out of that group.

That 2002 run was a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Keep the memories close.

Incoming Spain/Italy fans bitching about refs.

That and the fact he's getting into it enough to want England to lose. Which is a step forward from the "lolz no one cares about soccer here" kind of guy I assumed he was.
I don't want England to lose (actually I kind of do, them losing is much more entertaining then them winning). It is more that I expect them to lose and to see their star player become the villain.

That was pretty awesome. The only way I'd improve upon it would be to remove whoever that basketball douchebag was dressed like a banana.
Do you actually not know who that is? :lol

Hopefully England can do well this year. Losing to Portugal is the worst way to go. I just want my boy Gerrard to pull off some magic.

Spain will win it all

Honestly I'd be fine with that. Spain definitely needs to get one under their belt as well. This is coming from a Brazil fan btw. Samba till I die. :D

Edit: On second thought, I would LOVE to see one of the African teams make it all the way to the finals and win it all...would be sooooooo hype.

God, I made the mistake of watching highlights of that England-Portugal game from 2006. I'm glad I'm not an England fan 'cause I would've killed myself after that game.

So many missed opportunities. That handball early in the second. Team played with a lot of heart with being a man down, but it just wasn't in the cards.

I've got a section for related commercials in the WC thread. Will add this one. Thread will be up sometime after the CL final.

Let the Africans win next time, our team has never been stronger. It's now or never, baby XD.

I haven't followed football in a while - i don't even remember who our captain is, or who any of our capitans were since it stopped being David Beckham and only know a few players from our squad (rooney, gerrard, lampard, terry, cole and crouch) - but watching these adverts has me fucking psyched for the WC.

It's crazy how Spain best placement ever was the fourth.
Also it sadden me that the dutch team didn't won the WC when they had the chance ( with Cruijff )

Seriously. Mad respect to Johan Cruijff . I caught a bunch of his old games; a joy to watch.

The Argentinian one posted here was actually a lot more - WOW. Short, not much content, but everyone here who loves football has had moments like that.

Has anyone seen the WC song? It looks ace.

GAF off Topic is now officially a World Cup only section.

The British think they could win. :lol :lol :lol :lol
Nothing new in that. They always have some insane expectations for the World Cup.

I have been there during their scheduled losses in the Euros and it is amazing to see the reactions in a football country in person. Every flag disappears seemingly within a few hours of the loss.
