Ninja Gaiden 3 Details from TGS

Someone never finished Enslaved.

Even with crappy endings it's still got a better story than any team ninja product ever.

And while a huge chunk of team ninja left with itagkai (sp?) there must be still Plenty left of the original team.

The story is going to be bad regardless....why focus on it?

I think, even if this game turns out good (which is by no means a guarantee), there will be people who will refuse to admit it because it does not have Itagaki's name attached.

I don't care who is making this game. All I care about is if this new developer is retconning the NES Trilogy. Itagaki said NG2 was a direct prequel to the NES Trilogy, so i'm not sure how they can fit this game in without retconning it.

If they retcon it, that means this game is not canon and therefore i'm not buying it.

I just watched the video before I commented. There is no prolonged slow motion. The camera zooms in, and Ryu does the murdering, and it slows for a very brief time during impact. It takes no longer than an OT.

Whilst you're correct in it not taking longer than an OT I find it disrupts the flow of combat because it's random, pointless mechanically and comes with the zoom and slowmo. I don't see how anything you said contradicts what you quoted?

Poor, poor Ryu...
What have they done to you!
I tried the demo at E3 and... really, LOL.

After destroying Metroid Hayashi will fuck up Ninja Gaiden as well, it's damn fucking sad.

BTW, no words about the Move options (not that i wanna play Ninja Gaiden with the Move, but i'm just anticipating the evident trainwreck....)?

How do you know this isn't retconning NG2?

WTF?
Metroid was not destroyed by team ninja at all. In fact it was Nintendo who screwed up the Metroid other M. Team ninja did nothing but the coding for the action parts and character design.

Blame Sakamoto for fall of Metroid, not Hayashi. -_-

whoa whoa whoa, what western standards are we talking about? game story standards plz

Let me clarify.

I think that Ninja theory are one of the crappiest developers out there.

But at least in the west, their stories are much better than team ninja's.

You don't hear people claiming they were moved by ninja gaidens story.

I personally don't give a rats ass about story...give me a couple nonsensical cutscenes and S tier combat and we are good

You, know like a Ninja gaiden game should be like?

That's nothing but lip service. The stories of Ninja Gaiden 2 and Ninja Ryukenden (NES) aren't directly connected in any visible or meaningful way. Itagaki probably intended it to be a prequel, but nothing came of it.

So what's up with slaughtering that soldier?

Is there even a choice for the player or has Ryu suddenly become even more evil than Kratos?

Edit: Also I'm 99% certain that some dude gets decapitated at 5:59.
Did they back out of their earlier statements?

To say that Ninja Theory's stories are better compared to Team Ninja's isn't saying a whole lot, honestly.

You said there was gaudy zoom and slow motion (implying that was different from NG2's OTs) and I said it looks like it takes the same amount of time, maybe less, and that it isn't slow motion so much as a brief pause during impact. NG2's camera did all kinds of crazy shit during OT, including zooming in, so I don't see how that's a valid complaint here. All in all, it LOOKS no different from OTs. So that's the part of your post I didn't agree with.

The point about whether it's random or not is a good one and I don't know how it works. Have they said definitely that it happens randomly instead after the enemy is sufficiently weakened? If it's random, then you have perfectly reasonable grounds for complaint. If it works just like OTs then all the bitching about it is ridiculous because it doesn't disrupt the flow any more than OTs did.

I'm sold. Day 1.

Me 2, Day 0. Fuck the stupid ass want all games to stay the same haters.
Go play Ninja Gaiden Black if you want more of the same.
I loved Super Mario Bros. 3, but hell if SMW isn't good in its own right.

What the FUCK is this shit? If anything they need to ignore the NES games. The games stories don't make a LICK of sense (less than they already don't mind you) if they include the NES games as part of the canon of the Xbox games.

Itagaki doesn't OWN NG no more. If they want to retcon it to be canon, they're well within their rights do so and it becomes "canon" no matter how much you bitch that it isn't.

Some people play Ninja Gaiden games for the story?!

Mind = blown!

great find! NO QTE!

what say u now haters?

Nothings changed. Shitty mechanic that was previously referenced by a button onscreen is still a shitty mechanic.

I don't even care about dismemberment. Im more pissed about the loss of stacked essence, on landing UT's, dumbed down wind path and Flying swallow, roll/dash jump, enemy aggression and desperation, loss of weapons, flying bird flip, and bunch of other things that I probably forgot about.

The only improvement so far has been the Nippo and even there who knows if they will do something stupid like just give you one or two ninja arts for the whole game.

Yeah, the fuck? That better be an optional "show mercy or be an asshole" thing because Ryu as I know him would NOT kill a dude who tossed his weapon, surrendered and is currently begging for his life.

Really liked what I saw, the gameplay felt nice and fast.

Not to mention the times it zooms in is no more than it is when you pull of an obliteration technique. People are just gonna hate this game 'cause.....waaahhhh no Itagaki or waaaahhhh it's not Ninja Gaiden 1 or 2. If you knew you were gonna hate it ('cause of your preconceived prejudeice) why even bother post in here? I own all 5 Ninja Gaiden games, and still love every one for different reasons, this one won't be any different.

Regardless of whatever appears inferior, I know am going to love this game to the core. The gameplay still looks like brutal fun. I will fully support the action game genre that aim to remain 60fps.

OTs, UTs and ETs, were optional. This crap isn't. Why is that so hard to understand.

I don't really care all that much about the dismemberment thing or that Itagaki isn't heading it (always thought Itagaki was a douchebag from day one).

That stupid cursed arm thing and the possible shitload of QTEs does annoy me though. It will be a step in the right direction if they made the QTE thing when fighting enemies an optional "hit the button for this finisher when the opportunity arises with little intrusion into gameplay" thing like it seemed in that video.

Optional for Ninja Dogs like you maybe. Master Ninjas Obliterate the living fuck outta everything Ninja Junior.

He would in the dude was a Black Spider

Whatever bruh. I have nothing to prove to you. All I will say is the only time OT became Compusory was during a karma run, when time is against you..otherwise, stacking onlanding UT's, guillotine throws, izuna drops, parry to counter hits and combos>>>>>>1 button kills.

The game looks both great and fun

If Tecmo or any company came up to me and ask to direct a game in a franchise, I know for a fact that would'nt be trying to emulate exactly what my predecessor did. Dunno why people are crying that TN are trying to push the franchise instead of putting a hat on Malibu Stacy.

Okay I'm nuts, I've no idea why I was so adamant about the lack of zoom in OTs, should have checked more than one on Youtube before I rave about it. I seem to recall from zombies impressions that it just happened at some points during your strings, but my recall hasn't been too great today.

Gotta say, I love the animations.

That forced empathy crap is garbage though, "I'm just trying to feed my kid!"... Please. Itagaki's Ryu would've killed this guy before he could say "I".

It'd odd, but I actually do care about the original NG storyline too. I like the fact that the games are being bridged, myself.

Itagaki's Ryu also would never take orders from a girl without her putting out.

Huh? What? I thought Xbox/PS3 NG games were a complete reboot and had no connections whatsoever to the NES games.

Edit: BTW, I keep hearing NG3 will not have anything to do with the last two games in the series. Is that true and if so, where's the source of that info?

Okay. There is one thing I really like about the footage. Right after Ryu transforms into the dragon, all the soldiers are like, "okay, I'm out," and all give up. That would be funny and really great enemy characterization if not for the whole Ryu going crimes-against-humanity on them immediately afterwards.

They are. If they tried to connect the two continuum then there would be a plethora of plot holes.

The arm made him do it. It must feed.

the developers wanted players to feel what it’s like to “cut someone down”. The developers didn’t shy away from making the game violent and wanted players to feel the consequence of this violence.
By replacing the dismemberment system... with QTEs?

That's the other thing. The possessed arm thing is so original. I certainly haven't seen anything like that in at last 2 years in the 3rd person action game genre.

Couldn't they at least switched it up a little? Like a possessed femur or gall bladder or something?

--enemies look weak

--dragon sword is still the only weapon in the game

--what the hell was up with that "begging for life" part? I want a fast paced action game, not miller's crossing.

--seems like the emphasis is on story, so much that it's now built in to the gameplay. Team Ninja's forte has never been story or dialogue or anything like that.

Well, to be fair, NO video game developer has told an ACTUALLY good story. An entertaining one? Yes. Genuinely good? Nope.

Team Ninja is one of those devs that doesn't let you skip cutscenes on the first play through. It's like some policy they have in every game :\

i'm more worried about the in-game cutscene shit. really? do I have tilt the analog and slowly walk towards the begging guy, then hit a button to kill him, just so I can keep playing the real game? NAH
