Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge - Launch Trailer

Most likely. It is well known that when Nintendo is publishing they oversee some parts of the project, at the very least.

Looks pretty good, tbh. Now we just have to wait for reviews to come

I was wondering because game was truly beyond repair and Nintendo's hand is one of the few tools they coulda used to turn things around. Still, it's hard to tell without playing it

I'm totally blown away. This might be the best Ninja Gaiden trailer I've ever seen. Color me surprised.

I normally eschew overly graphically violent games, but this looks awesome. I hope there is a gore/blood turn off mode. My copy has been pre-ordered for awhile. It is a Christmas present so I can't play until Christmas.

I hope there is a Kasumi playable option. A kinder, gentler, sexier ninja. (Sorry, Ayane fans. But facts are facts. ;) ). Would be awesome for a Samus playable option. Would rock the universe with a Mario playable option or Mario-themed suits a la TTT 2 WiiU. Kasumi or Ayane in a Rosalina outfit would be the bees knees.

I'm laughing my ass of at the fact that Team Ninja realized NG3 was such an abomination that they basically went back and try to remake it into NG2.

They're listening to their fans, nothing wrong with that. They tried to tap into the press QTE and win fanbase that GoW owns, and it hurt the core gameplay.

Don't know if I'll be able to get a Wii U, but we'll see. This and Mario make it a solid launch lineup for me.

Fuck yeah, Irene. They can give that dime store version (Mizuki) the boot now.

I hope they took out the stupid "I have a family, don't kill me" guy that you have no choice but to kill even though they act like you do.

I wonder if this is the most improved re-release in the shortest amount of time in all gaming history. I wonder if it has potential to actually sell better.

I'll sort of be peeved if it turns out good. It just proves that the game needed another 6 months in development, but I don't think it'll undue the tarnish NG3:vanilla left on the brand.

This looks excellent. I never played the original version so I'm not sour on this game like some. Once I playthrough NintendoLand and Mario I'll definitely be getting to this game. Another game on the wishlist.

Looks pretty good. Curious as to what the game length is like and replayability. It's on my list to buy but would like to know those things before buying though.

The one with black hair looks like Miyako... (Kokoro's Mother)

That's Mizuki McCloud, one of the new characters. She talks to Ryu over the radio throughout the game.

Anyway, I've been keeping a close eye on the game...and so far, all of the impressions I've read from people who played demo versions of it were pretty positive, and these were from people who disliked the original version. It seems to basically play like a modified Ninja Gaiden 2 now, and no longer feels much like Ninja Gaiden 3 did.

It still has kunai climbing, though...

Tons of games have had shitty editions that nearly killed the brand and come back better than ever.

Tons?

I hope it's as good as NG2. I'd be ecstatic since that's pretty much what I wanted in the first place.

I'm willing to give the game another shot. I think they pulled it together on this one. They're certainly capable of the job, despite what other want to think. I just think original NG3's mistake was just they were misguided in their vision.

Did they remove the multiplayer? They'd be better off turning that mode into an expanded challenge mode.

Yeah there's always that one game in every franshise that's so shitty we ignore/kills boners. DMC2, SF3, 3D MK, FF13, etc. . .

Well, after SF3 we didn't see another SF for...10 years? lol

FF13 made FF13-2 sale pretty horribly and now the brand is questionable.

MK has always sold well. Always.

DMC2, welp. Yeah, you got me there.

Yeah, I noticed that when I saw her.

Will get when I buy WiiU (after months).

Maybe I'm leaning too close to game reviews here, but IIRC, NG3 sold and reviewed quite a bit worse than any of those games.

....but I do see your point. NG4 could make a huge come back.

If this sells well, is there a chance for a Sigma version?

If Razor's Edge sells well, I don't see why they wouldn't throw it on the PS3 and 360. I'm still very skeptical about this release. The way people talked about the vanilla version, the fundamental dna of the game was shitty. If a couple tweaks could fix that, seems like 3 might have gotten overly negative reactions initially.

People are always willing to jump aboard a hate train on the internet, even if they have never actually partaken of the hated material to form their own opinion. I could name examples, but it would assuredly derail the thread, so I shall decline to do so.

Really depends if Nintendo has a claim to it. They helped with it's development.

The game wasn't that bad to begin with. Certainly not bad enough to claim it DOA when every ninja gaiden has issues that are quite obvious.

can someone give a quick summary of why 3 was shitty and why this one is not shitty?

The main thing I came away with was that the enemies weren't as aggressive as you would expect. I didn't mind so much, since the camera is still a shitty mess like most Gaiden games. Also, I thought some of the QTE moves were kind of wierd...as in unpredictable. I never knew what the hell he was going to do, but it didn't really matter. It was a QTE. A few people said it wasn't responsive enough, but I had no issues in that regard, excluding the previously mentioned QTE crap.

Changes
AI has new behaviors and no mercy crap (more aggresive)
More weapons and upgradable
More ninpos
Ayane Playable
Karma is back
Gore is back and off QTE on the fights
Includes bosses from the other 2 games
new enemies
New moves
New Coop mode

Ehh thats all I can remember for now.

NG3 tried to go after a new audience, they expected the god of war fans would see the blood and over the top boss fights and think the game was almost the same thing. Koei actually released a game that did a better job of that a couple years ago called Ninja Blade- quite literally it was god of war with a ninja. I always considered NG2 sigma to be nuetered because the literal meat of the game was replaced with tofu but that didn't really happen until NG3. The title is riddled with crappy and obtrusive quicktime events, only gives the player a single weapon with a reduced moveset as well as only 1 ninpo that is a use it or lose it setup and the enemy AI was rewritten to basically stand around and have a cigarette while you just mash buttons to kill them all.

Razors edge basically takes NG3's levels and some of it's mechanics and plops it into Ninja Gaiden 2's gameplay engine. Limb loss is back, enemies will actually fight back and overall it feels more like NG2. As well , rather then paying 15 bucks for DLC , you instead just have access to 4 weapons with which to chop dudes up with. More ninpo attacks as well. In my case, I doubt it will reach the heights of NGblack and NG2 but I suspect Razors Edge will be much closer then the craptacular barebones release was.

The bolded part it is wrong. Its Actually From Software and not Koei.

Needed more Mountain Dew and Doritos. Not japanese hamburgers.

About, but it made a great comeback.

Brand is in limbo, but can be brought back whenever SE decides to become relevant again.

In terms of reception new MK > all 3D MKs.

Do we know if this has off screen play?

From what I played at PAX Prime, tablet screen is only used for movelist/map/optional touch weapon switching.

Also, the difficulty was definitely stepped up from Vanilla NG3 with some tweaked enemy placements, steady framerate (no input lag), dismemberment, and a tweaked version of Steel On Bone (only occurs when counter attacking a enemies RED attack, not exactly sure).

Did he mean Mario Kart or Mortal Kombat?

Man I'm so torn on this game. I really don't know if I should pick it up or not. Thankfully the review embargo for this is November 13th unlike most of the Wii U launch lineup so we'll see how critics feel about the upgrades.

Unfortunately won't be able to a buy a Wii U this year but NG3 and ZombiU will be the first two titles I buy for it.

Razors Edge looks amazing.
