Ayane? Momiji? Rachel? Kasumi? The game looks great, but it's definitely suffering from a severe case of blue balls. Hopefully I'm wrong and there are hidden character unlocks.

Was about to preorder the deluxe the other day, saw a video where the combat encounters happen inside GIGANTIC boxes basically - the level design in this seems absolutely atrocious, in fact every video released so far shows said bad lvl design...
Hope the action can carry the rest of the game 'cause man, this so far looks like NG3 RE + Platinum shittery + every cyberpunk game out there (talking about the esthetics).

For better or worse this game seems to have Ryu Hayabusa as the DoA representative. Along with a "Additional Weapons sold separately" DLC pack.

So far it is only one weapon each to go along with story expansion. Ryu was the Ninja Gaiden representative in DoA.

Yeah I restrained myself from buying NG2 "Black" as I didn't trust TN without Itagaki.
I don't like Platinum's BTA in general, and what I've seen from NG4 doesn't inspire confidence imho.
And I'm not vibing with Yakumo AT ALL. How can you choose to make him the main character when you have Ryu HAYAFUCKINBUSA ?! I feel he will be relegated for a few stages and playable as an afterthought to rerun the Yakumo stages. And this DLC fuckery... I'm clearly out.

Interviews are saying on stage select you can pick Ryu or him. Hopefully it's for the whole game.

No you can only pick him after you beat the stage with Yakumo. You just replay the stage with Ryu.
Ryu has also some specific stages just for him (that you can replay with Yakumo) but I'm sure those will be sparse compared to Yakumo.

I wouldn't say it's a "no buy" for me , but it is definitely pretty disappointing considering the fact that Ninja Gaiden 3 featured four playable characters.

Agree Yakumo looks and sounds like zoomer shit.
This will probably be like choosing Vergil in DMC4 or 5. Heavily neutered story wise and stages might not really be made for Ryu's mechanics.

I don't get it boys, the original NG 3D games (1, 1 Black, NG2) Didn't have guest characters and they were better for it.
Sigma, Sigma 2 and 2 Black are way worse for it since the gameplay isn't that well balanced /finely tuned around them due to slow AF animations (Rachel, Momiji) or very low damage output (Ayane).
In fact, as a big NG2 fan, I dread everytime that I have to go through their shitty stages on master ninja, input lag + frequent whiffing + shit characters = exercise in frustration.
I much rather the off screen IS ninja spamming in vanilla NG2 than the guest characters bullshit in Sigma 2/2 Black

We probably will never get a complete single player release again. Still pissed Ryu's weapons are dlc locked. Im strongly considering, waiting for the inevitable all content package later.

They would be okay for mission mode, or unlockable short stories with just their stages. But they shouldn't be in the main game, taking control of Ryu away. Another reason why NG2B was a fraud, they were left in along with their damage output and speed problems. Its one other obvious example that this is a remaster of NGS2.

NG3's Ayane was fun but Momji sucked and Kasumi felt like a redundant variation of Ayane.

Rachel is an original Ninja Gaiden character. She was made playable in Sigmas. They screwed up her moveset in Sigma 2.

Regarding NG4 : dunno boys, I'm a big NG fan but...1 weapon for each character (something which was heavily criticized in NG3), ginourmous arenas /ugly level design, Yakumo who I couldn't give less of a shit (they still haven't got through their thick skulls that we just want to play with Ryu) with the DLC being out 3 months within the game's release being the cherry on top...
I really don't know, I want to be there day1 but...I can't take another NG3-like dissapointment, these are 70-90 Eurodollars were talking about...
Hope reviews release early 'cause this time, I'm not jumping in blind (especially true after the shitty NG2 "black").
