Nintendo 3DS Direct 3rd Party Publisher Games (2014.7.11)

Just got my 3DS last month so I've re-entered the Nintendo fray all over again (was PS3 only for quite awhile last gen).

Is there a comprehensive list of all Japan exclusive games that are worth importing? I was bummed when I found out about Rocket Slime 3 not making it out here (same with DQ7). I loved Rocket Slime on the DS and it was one of my favorite games on the platform. Also, the systems are region locked, correct?

Yes, 3DS games are region locked.

DS games are not region locked.

Hoping for some more news on Dai Gyakuten Saiban, as far as announced games go.

The Western versions of Black & White are exceptions and aren't region locked. I'm not sure about B&W 2 though.
Those aren't either. My US copies of White and White 2 work perfectly on my Japanese DSi LL (and would work on any 3DS)

D-do you know something we don't? ;_;

Ah, no, no, no, I don't know anything, I was just referring to how long it took them to localise BDFF (though that was partially due to the fact they were working on the "For the Sequel" edition). I'm pretty sure they'll need some more convincing before greenlighting localisation for Bravely Second. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually waited for the "For the Trilogy" edition before doing so.

And that comment was also because having faith in SE to do the right thing can be a little hazardous at times :p

Ah, okay. Because maybe I am a pessimist, but I find it very hard for SE to do any right thing, save for what appear to be sincere flukes. Their surprise that Bravely Default caught on outside of Japan is something that still astounds me.

The 3DS has definitely been lacking good games this year compared to last year, but I'm a bit worried since this Direct has (so far) only been announced for Japan. Japan has enough 3DS games, why don't you try localizing some of them before announcing new ones that we'll never get?

The 3DS's lineup this year was DIRE, so this is promising.

Not really dire. Not as high profile last year but releases have been pretty good so far. BD, Mario Golf, Kirby TD, Yoshi's New Island and Tomodachi life highlight this year's Nintendo output in NA. And we still have the bigger games like Smash and Pokemon ORAS, as well as some smaller stuff.

Crossbuy would be so messy. Would they grant them to people who've already purchased games available on both Wii U and 3DS, or only going forward?

Not to say I wouldn't love it though, shit. I'd love to fire some Shovel Knight up on my Wii U at home, but I'm not paying another $15, nevermind not being able to access my progress on my 3DS game.

In other news, I saw an open 2DS in person for the first time today. Wow. It really manages to look even worse in person.

This is NCL's event, not NoA/NoE.

It is a third-party Direct. Nintendo has localized the majority of their first-party games. Nintendo isn't going to force third-parties to stop making games and instead localize previous ones.

There's some rumours going around about a VC subscription service and cross-buy. I don't know if that's what that poster was referring to though.

We know something big is coming soon, since the latest 3DS update bumps it up to v8.0 and several sources claim it's in preparation for something. But I highly doubt we'll see anything in a direct focusing on 3rd parties.

This is pretty good. Things were too calm for 3DS. Even though it is hard to predict what we may see there.
I believe that, they will talk about games which will be released soon :

Dragon Quest X
Monster Hunter 4G
Senran Kagura 2: Shinku
Gaist Crusher God
Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2
Medarot 8: Kuwagata Ver.
Gundam Try Age SP
SoniPro

And probably :

Bravery Second
Final Fantasy Explorer
Tales of the World: Reve Unitia

I can't remember others titles.

Maybe show one thing or another about, Youkai Watch 2.

I hope that they announce something "big", like a new Dragon Quest, XI. Or a Mega Man.
I particularly do not mind if they announce a new remake from FF V /VI/VII, or Dragon Quest VIII.

Trauma Center/Trauma Team PLEASE.

More info on Dai Gyakuten Saiban and Bravely Second.

Zone of the Enders 3DS, The World Ends With You 2, and Mega Man Legends 3 please :[

I hope this gives us cool new game announcements, 3DS is pretty dry in terms of that in JP. Yeah we have games listed above, but there's SO MUCH MORE that could be on 3DS.

Is there an estimate posted for the length? I should be able to catch most of this, but I'm hoping I get to see whatever gets shown last.

I've given up on a new game but it'd be nice if Capcom ported Mega Man 9 & 10 to the eShop in celebration of his Smash inclusion.

I guess it's a bit too late after the announcement to hope that NA or EU has a direct as well? That maybe they just got delayed in mentioning it?

Oh well... :(

Youkai Watch for English territories... your time will come.

Why doesn't NoA do one for the 3rd party games here.
Persona Q, Story of Seasons, Theatrhythm, Monster Hunter 4, eShop games, and announcements would be an ok stream.

Besides Monster Hunter 4, nothing got promoted during E3.
