It really sounds like an evolutionary feature for the series. I have yet to pick up SW3 for Wii, but I imagine some sort of contextual 'warp to' button input could be used when new objectives/missions appear on screen to deal with. Could make for some interesting manipulative choices on the player if handled properly. It was always a bear circling the entire map on foot/horse to make those objectives in time...and then the General dies. Fuck I want to play some Warriors now.

I haven't played a SW since the first one, but it's definitely making some nice strides. I'm not sure if this is new or not, but on top of what Drinky mentioned, you can command the officers that you're not playing as to another point on the map. So it adds another strategic layer, and of course it's super nice that you can switch to them on the fly any time you'd like.

I never actually played any of the Musou games on PSP, but wasn't Orochi 2 a pretty direct port of the console games? As in identical outside of the visuals, ie. no more segmented battlemaps? I thought I had read that awhile back.

No idea personally... I played the first DW and SW on psp. So much disappoint.

If you've got a Target around you, you might be able to score SW3 on the cheap right now. Both the Targets near me have it clearanced out for $12 right now. YMMV of course

i think it's more of a shame people can't just enjoy the game in spite of them! it's like how i'm lucky that i have no coffee standards, so i can just go to starbucks in a pinch without feeling bad about it.

The problem with that theory is the fact that there are other options and there are cheaper options that are much better. It's one thing if this was the first good portable version and you'd have to put up with short-comings going from a console version to this, but the PSP has two versions out there that both run at 60 fps. So for something that has worse graphics, and significantly worse framerate to be simply overlooked is silly IMO, especially at $40. I'm not simply holding it up against other racing games either; I'm holding it up against the same game in the series.

Yeah, Orochi 2 on the PSP has the full maps and is on par with the console versions.

I will check it out. My Wii has been in storage since last summer, but SW3 is on the short list of titles I've been meaning to snag for when it does get hooked up again.

i'm really tempted by samurai warriors now, even though it almost has the lowest score of any of the launch games:
http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/release-date/new-releases/3ds/metascore?view=condensed

I think if I had to choose one game so far it would be really hard but nintendodogs and ridge racer are both great imo.

pilotwings is good but a bit too simple, SSFIV is cool but it doesnt control great with the dpad, and already been there and done that on the 360.

all fair but for me, the 3D and control advantages of the 3DS make this RR better than the PSP entries. i won't disagree that it seems like a bit of a rushjob on the part of the developers, but i'd still recommend the game 30fps or not.

Any impressions on Bust A Move 3DS? I loved the first 2 games but after that the series has been kinda hit and miss with me.

My lady friend enjoys it and the 3D is effect of the bubble bursting into your face makes it even more addictive.

I'm honestly sick of it though, but I'm not a huge fan of Bust A Move.

Guys I think the 3DS broke my brain. Every screen I look at now sort of looks 3D. If I let my brain zone out a bit things just start popping out of the screen just like the 3DS. It requires actually focusing on the screen pretty hard to avoid the effect from happening.

So I'm going to die aren't I?

Strange. I have experienced this exact same thing. it is really unsettling.

Ok guys, how the heck do i see these visualizations? Do i need to upload mp3's to my sd card??

Yeah, just put some mp3s on a folder and put them on the SD card. They can be in the first directory and they can have a name like "podcasts" or the band's name. You don't have to do anything real specific. Then you go into the music program and pull the string (like a lamp) to switch visualizers. Be sure to click on the parrot for lots of tips.

Ugh... I've noticed a small discoloured spot on the top screen, lined up with the camera. Found out that it wasn't on the outer casing - but on the screen itself. Dammit. Contemplating returning it for a new one...

Anyone else with a similar issue?

I wanna see Troll Face and Forever Alone Face in Face Raiders. Will it read cartoon faces or does the face recognition algorythm only work on human faces?
It won't work perfectly, but it's still fun to try. :) The not-working-perfectly part makes it even creepier...

I kind of expected the $25 and $10 credit from Amazon to stack. :( Now I have to buy TWO games if I want to use it all, but I don't know if it's worth it.

So far, I have:
Pilot Wings
SSFIV (arriving tomorrow)

Thinking of getting Ghost Recon and Dynasty Warriors. We'll see.

Aaaaaalso...I kind of accidentally ended up with extra systems.

Should I return them or hang on to them?

They accidentally sent you an extra system? You should probably notify them.

Edit:

Oh, I wish. I forgot to say that they are all paid for. ;p I was indecisive and procrastinated.
Oh. Well, do you really have any point in keeping the extra systems? :P

So, I can't just put some .jpegs on the SD card and look at them on the 3DS, right?

You can. I'm able to put jpegs into the the card and view them.

- What I did was resize pics to 640x480 pixels (I resize and crop the pics in photoshop)
- Rename the files as HNI_0001.jpg, HNI_0002.jpg, etc.
- Put them in the folder DCIM\100NIN03

I googled it and figured it out. They show up in the photo folder.

I have been seeing gaf in 3d since yesterday afternoon, my brain is fucked but im enjoying the 3d.

This. I wonder. do you have matte or glossy screen? is it only gaf? or many elements?

Further discovery/ research is needed!

My US 3DS just arrived (I'm in London). I got the blue one, plus Steel Diver, Nintendogs, SSFIV and PilotWings. The ultra slim game cases are really hot. Gonna open it up now, just hope there are no dead pixels.

Thanks.

Interesting. After some experimenting I got some pics to show up. It looks like you can go a bit over 640x480. It also seems like the file size is another limitation. It looks like they have to be smaller than about 150 kb. It's too much work to get a picture on there though. The picture viewer isn't that great either. I was hoping I could put some manga on it like I used to on PSP. But I can't even zoom in to read it if I did.

Browsing through reviews right now and in the IGN video review of Ghost Recon they complain that the game is too long. The fuck?

They also mention that the game is too repetitive, which is the reason why they think it's a bit long.

I just put in my 4GB SDHC card from my Nikon D5000 (like, 12mp. 2mb per image on the jpg's), and they work perfectly on the 3DS' photo viewer. They take a while to show up, but they look great.

Just a quick question for you 3DS havers: Are any of you left handed, and if so how are you handling the 3ds? It seems rather right hand dominant since the analog stick is on the left side and some games use stylus + stick use at the same time. Just curious how people have found it and what not before I go buy one ;p

Well... it works with cat faces, so i guess it can work with cartoon faces, although its probably worst with cartoon faces, with all the exaggerated proportions for the eyes and mouth.

??? My credit stacked. I got a game for essentially $5

I got two $10 vouchers for Amazon... now do I want anything though or wait :/

My 3DS was waiting on the door step when I got home last night. Luckily, my drug dealer neighbors were inside!

This thing is awesome. It's more of a window than a super gimmicky pop-out at you thing, which I like a lot more. There's a slight eye adjustment I had to make when viewing it, but I didn't get any strain or headaches (I'm also a real man --- like Duke Nukem and shoe salesman Al Bundy).

I had more fun with the camera than anything else. I kept trying to trick it, by using weird angles but this thing just works. And that makes me mad that I can't find glitches. I haven't even opened my AR cards yet. I fear I'll lose all interest in gaming this week if I pull those out.

That music video sucks big time. OK Go is a junk band, and their videos are stupid. So what a shock.

Last, tried out Pokemon Black since SSFIV3D didn't come in yet. I haven't played a DS game since New Super Mario Bros. first came out, on my DS phat. I had 0 complaint about how Pokemon Black looked. I also bought Zelda: Phantom Hourglass recently, so I'll see how that looks, but Pokemon Black looked great.

If there's ever been a hype train to ride on, it's this hype train. Now... BRING ON THE GOOD GAMES!!

Wants for this thing:
Donkey Kong Country 3DS
New Super Mario Bros 3DS
StarFox
Metroid (non-FPS)
Pokemon Trading Card Game
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past / Link's Awakening redone like how Pokemon Black looks, but with 3D so it looks like I'm on a cloud, looking in a window down at Link. Or "THIEF", more like it.

What is the link to the free 3DS accessory with Amazon? The link in my mailbox is... broken.

How long until you get the link? Mine shipped Saturday I guess, and I'm still waiting on my code to redeem some goodies.
