I still don't know why they didn't put a motion sensor of somesort in there, like the iphone.
And since the 3ds has buttons.you won't block the screens with your fingers .

I think there is a gyro in there. Does Monkey Ball use it?

Um.... unless my 3DS is special..... every one of them should have it "in there".

Been a while since I've been able to post in this thread, it moves too fast and I've been playing my 3DS too much. Question (that has probably been answered): If you're playing a regular DS game and you close it to put it in sleep, you'll still Streetpass, right? Just wondering since I don't see the wifi light blinking, it just stays on, I think. And I'm not talking about Pokemon C-gear.

I've got about 8 hrs on SSFIV, and about 3 or 4 hours on Pilotwings. Haven't even opened Shadow Wars yet and haven't played Nintendogs, either. Might trade/sell Nintendogs if my daughter doesn't like it...

I got one tag yesterday!... the demo unit at Best Buy :-/

They did. There is motion sensing included in the system. Monkey Ball uses it even.

Unfortunately, it's not really possible to use this feature in conjunction with 3D so it likely won't be that common.

Don't forget that Nintendo did motion sensing before the iPhone even existed.

There must be different units being sent to BB. The one in my mall doesn't have street pass activated.

No. You'll only street pass from the home menu if you put it to sleep. Get out of your games, especially ds games, if you want to street pass.

Ah, so I guess it wouldn't streetpass while i'm playing, either, huh? That kind of sucks. Sometimes I'll be in a "high traffic" area where I'm hoping to Streetpass, but want to play DQVI. I'll have to pick and choose, I guess.

It's kinda hilarious that the 3DS rewards you for not playing the 3DS.

Apparently you can StreetPass while games are running, or how would people get tags from Best Buy and GameStop units with Pilotwings demos running?

What??? Then how did I have Rayman 3D running the other day and still received like 15 Miis at that concert?

Yeah, it works from 3DS games that are not using wifi as far as I know. It won't work from DS games running at all.

I though it would be so nice if you could twist the ds and the camera pans around like in that one paper mario game, the one were you can see behind the blocks..
That would be hot.

Didn't know there was a gyro in there, so maybe there is still hope for 1st party to implement this in some way shape n form.

You can Streetpass just fine with 3DS games running.
Just not with DS or if connected to the internet.
I thought it only worked in sleep mode? Hmm.

Although looking at that now that I typed it, it seems silly.

I walked by a guy playing GR on my way to a class last week and it streetpass worked.

I think a lot of you misread my post. I was talking about playing a DS game, not a 3DS game. From what was said above, playing a DS game or being in sleep mode with a DS game running will not allow Streetpass. 3DS games are fine.

I know but he said "especially DS games" implying that it wouldn't work with other games.

yeah, i saw it after i posted. but we're all in agreement that DS games don't let you use streetpass? :-(. I better finish DQVI at home then.

It is extremely simple to understand from then why a "fan of Ridge Racer' would not take kindly to such a bottom garbage bin tier RR

well, my initial reaction to this RR was pretty much the same but.... yeah, i was wrong. I'm enjoying it, hell, Drinky is probably going to nuke me from orbit whilst opening up a sink hole below me but i also enjoy the 3D effect and the depth perception helps.

*shrug* either i'm suddenly really easily pleased or someone is tampering with my meds.

so im moving to Canada in the next 5 months and i just need a few answers:

1. Since obviously im buying an american 3ds console, im still in the UK currently so all i need to do is buy a UK 3ds plug and it'll work fine on the american 3ds for charging? (because in the mean time i'll be using it to play regular DS games too)

2. i know that its an american console im getting, but will i be able to create a canadian account to download games from since obviously i'll be living in canada later on. Or is it American 3ds = only create american online accounts & Canada = only canadian accounts can be made

3. I know very well the 3ds is region locked but still Canada and USA is North America so i should still be alright buying Canadian games for a usa 3ds console right? or is it locked country by country? (example: canadian 3ds games only work on Canadian 3ds, usa games on usa 3ds consoles only etc)

thanks if u can help my noob questions lol

There is no difference between the American and Canadian 3DS systems. You should be fine. The only difference may come with something like Netflix, we have a different selection from our American Counterparts. As far as games/3DSWare selection, it should be all the same.

What with the shop not being there for us to confirm anything yet, best thing to say is that there wasn't a big problem switching the Wii from US<->Canada for purposes of buying gifts for people of the other country.

Fuck it. Think I'll just go impulse buy one of these finally.

Any good deals for games going on now? I just want RR and Samurai Warriors.

I actually really like the 3D effect and it's great in the darkness.
But I see really small black spots on the screen and it's annoying, maybe it's just dirt.
There's four dead pixels as well (it's a dead pixel when that small dot is just all white without anything happening in it?).

Dusties show up quite prominently due to the 3D effect.

Keep a micro-fiber cloth nearby and give it a good wipe every so often.

If you have real dead pixels, call Nintendo and get that replaced.

I'm having trouble deciding which one to get
The soft case is nicer/easier to carry around if you're just carrying it around. The hard case might be nicer/easier to carry around if you're going to keep it in a backpack or bag of some kind. Mine opinion, of course.

Advice on the next two games to buy for the 3DS? I purchased SSFIV at launch and will be paying $34 for 2 games thanks to the Amazon promotion so I need suggestions. I was interested in picking up either Ghost Recon, Ridge Racer, Rayman 3D, Star Wars, maybe Pilot Wings, I don't know.

Okay, am I the only one who DOESN'T lose 3D when I put my fingers/stylus in front of the screen? I was playing around with a stylus and using it like I was going to touch the top screen, but I never once lost 3D; same case when using my finger. I think it'd be bangin to see 2 3D screens in the future, so that there isn't this weird sort of design going on with only one screen being 3D.

I remember hearing people talk about how you'd lose the 3D by putting something in front of the screen while playing, but I didn't experience that. So, am I just trippin or what?

So I sold my ancient PowerBook on eBay for $250, turned around and ordered a 3DS from Amazon with that money. It's showing up today. My lunch break is in about an hour and it hasn't arrived here at the office yet. Does it come charged? I'm hoping the answer is yes because I'd love to crack it open and play with it on my break, but if the battery comes dead I won't be able to :(

Yeah, it should have a charge out of the box. I think mine had around half a charge or more. Enough time to play around with it for a while.

Mine came practically fully charged.

Great news. Now I just need to hope it shows up in the next half hour. Stupid UPS has usually delivered by now...

Edit: JUST SHOWED UP. AWESOME!
