I am so into my 3DS right now, it is so awesome. Totally worth the price and more!

I have played 15 hours of Ghost Recon so far with wifi on and no crash, maybe I have just been lucky?

The 3D in Rayman is awesome, I keep almost brushing my screen off because I think there is a bug on it sometimes! :P

Battery life has been a bit of an issue so far though, could someone tell me how the nyko battery thing is? Also how to install it cause I heard if you don;t do it right it messes with the calendar and streetpass or something?

I'm a few missions away from being done with Samurai Warriors Chronicles. I like it so much I finally bought Samurai Warriors 3 for the Wii. SW3 has some really slick presentation to it.

I'll probably just use the 3DS for the occasional SSF4 match, GRSW skirmish matches, and Street Pass stuff until DOA drops.

It's funny, I've been content with the 3DS screen size up until I booted up my XL yesterday. It's renewed my love of the XL and I no longer take these massive screens for granted anymore.

anyone on the last level in "Find Mii"??
After beating the previous dungeon, 2 of my remaining heroes enter into a new dungeon (the one which im in now) that's pitch black. Upon seeing this, my heroes flee because it's too dark to see anything. Anyone know what to do or how can I light this place?

You need a Mii or hero with a white shirt then use that Mii/hero's spell.

The hero will use the spell automatically and leave (tired), the room will stay lit once it is brighten

I just realized something, how come the 3ds doesn't have a Mii Parade online channel thing where you can see other people's creations, take part in Mii contests and add Mii's to your system?

Not sure if this has been talked about but has anyone messed around with the music player yet? When you play music there is a cord you can pull that changes the background. Beside two backgrounds that show bass and vocals there are the following.

- An Excitebike background that shows two riders racing along a track.
- A polygon spaceship flying through tunnels. If you hit L and R the ship will shoot parts of the tunnel away. This looks pretty cool. You can control the ship some as well with the circle pad.
- There is background showing two figures bouncing a soccer ball on their heads. You can move the player left and right, backward and forward and diagonal.
- A figure constantly moving up stairs. Every step taken results in something springing from the ground. You can use L and R to have the figure show a fan with Japan's flag on it. Or to shoot fireworks. Or some stop sign looking object.
- A clock showing the time with cogs moving in the background
- Last is photos from your photo gallery presented in a slide show.

These are shown in 3D too.

What the fuck... How the hell did I get suddenly 2 dead pixels in a single day? It lasted 2 weeks and then it just happened. I doubt Gamestop will let me return it again with this being the 3rd one. That and while not as annoying as the other ones still kinda has a wonky hinge. No DS system I've owned had the entire top screen wobble around when I push buttons. This is just unacceptable for Nintendo.

I found out it only reads 100 files in a folder. Not so handy for people who just want to drag 'n drop their iTunes favorite playlist :(

Are you sure it's not just spit or dirt? I've had what I thought were dead pixels but rubbing them with a microfiber cloth took care of it, the top screen just seems to have things stick to it easily...

Are you guys checking the buy/sell/trade thread? Now that we are all done with our launch games, we could probably trade them with other GAF members, if so inclined.

Think I'm gonna offer my Ghost Recon & Rabbids in exchange for Star Wars or Rayman.

It sure as hell isn't, otherwise they would have gone by now. Definitely can tell they are because of the different colored light spots you see when you turn the screen at a certain angle. Though I do know what you mean, some dirt spots made me think the same thing but I could easily get rid of them. Not sure what you mean by spit though lol. Either way I called and I'm thankful that my Gamestop will let me turn it in again.

Got my 3ds today, but ended up not buying any games. There's really nothing that stands out to me, but I think I'll end up getting either Ghost Recon or Street Fighter.

Is the eshop still scheduled for May? Mega Man and the Virtual Console are kind of the biggest things I'm looking forward to besides OoT.

Yeah late May.

I love my 3DS to death. Play Pro Evo and Street Fighter on it all the time. It has also rekindled my love for my DS library, as I'm playing Chrono Trigger through completion again as well as Might & Magic.

But the one thing that I truly don't get... is the lack of Nintendo sending any kind of updates with SpotPass. Anything, really. I mean, Capcom has sent some free figurine codes as well as a "hey, hope you're enjoying the game!" kind of a message... and nothing from Nintendo?

That's it though. Everything else about the system is solid.

Sooooo.

Up until now ive been pretty happy with my 3DS. My "wobble" has a play of about a 1/8 of a inch and from most accounts thats acceptable/normal (though i still dont like it at all, my DSl has no wobble and the hinges are fine).

On the way to preorder a psp2 I noticed immediatly I got the screen smudges from the bottom screen, and needless to say I am not happy about this at all. I usually play with it around the house and im guessing thats why I havent noticed it yet (natural light and all). So I would suggest anyone who dont really play outside just bring it outside and take a gander.

To further my rage I figured screw it im at gamestop ill grab the protectors........yeah ill be heading back and trying that route again being I cant get them on for shit, bubbles and all.

Its a shame, now im scared to close the freaking thing cause I dont want the smudges turning into scratches like alot of ppl are claiming and I hate screen protectors....never needed them but i guess i do now

Dude, just get a soft cloth, like one of those eyeglass wipes and wipe it down. moisten it a tad if you must. Smudges and light "scratches" should come right off.

Also, ask yourself this question, "Does it affect my gameplay or visuals?"

If no, then who gives a crap, unless you have like an ocd kind of disorder then well, I can't help you with that. I'm so done with Screen protectors. Unless you get those mofos on JUST perfect they will cause your screen more grief with them on than off. If you are very careful and frequently wipe your screen down then you should have no problems playing with no protection.

For now im not too concerned, the smudges came right off before I failed at putting them protectors on....but im not happy either.Like I said I never used screen protectors and im not a fan.

There are a few complaints about these smudges turning into nice scratches in the shape/form of the bottom screen. That will affect visuals no matter what way you slice it. Being nintendos claim to fame with this thing is 3D ,and that screen is a big chunk of the total price that I paid, I think im well into my right to be unhappy. Now im scared to close it and cause scratches, when I bought it under the assumption its safe to close lol.

I dont think anyone would be too happy with a permanent scratch frame on their top screen ,which from what I get theres a 50/50 shot ninty will not cover this. Im just going to pay close attention to my warranty date and keep a strong eye on this for now.

The only reason I posted was just to let people aware that I didnt notice it until I was in natural light and it popped right out, so maybe that will help someone else out.

While perusing gaming information, I stumbled across a link to an article claiming it had "5 things you need to know" about prolonging the 3DS's battery life. Naturally, I had to click and see what this said.

The first suggestion they gave made me chuckle, though.

Yes, they claim that turning "down" the 3D effect will reduce power consumption.

Sigh.
That's like saying turning down the volume from IN GAME options will save battery

Well, my two smudge lines have finally decided to stick around for good. They were wiping off easy for quite a while but now I seem to have two extremely fine but slightly noticable scratch lines building up where the top screen rests against the bottom frame. If they get any more noticable I'll try and swap it and I'll probably even *shudder* use a shitty screen protector on the top screen which I hate.

Has Nintendo ever said what the Infrared transceiver is for?
They call it out in the manual but never say what it might be used for. Why include such shitty tech?

I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Everyone is getting smudges, everyone is getting those lines on the top screen. Just keep a soft wipe handy. If the day comes when the smudges/lines no longer disappear and it's really affecting you, send it in to Nintendo. You have a year warranty and if you registered, an extra 3 months. You've got plenty of time to send it in if need be.

Not sure whether to laugh or cry. Or just go DERP.

LOL

What the hell are people paying that extra $70 for?? The Luxury of having 4 installed monthly payments?

$250 + $40 = $290

HSN Price? $360

Really? Those must be some expensive as Stylus pens

Good question. Maybe just for repair work or something?

DSiWare transfers?

Got one this past Saturday. From my older sister too, as an early birthday present. It was a pretty big surprise too. We were at best buy that day, and I was looking at the 3DS display, and she came up to me and said "If you want to grab one of those right now and a game, I'll buy one for you." I'd been planning on saving up for one eventually, but recent events at work have led to less hours for the time being (I still get disaster pay, but its not as much as a normal paycheck).

So, now I have one. I got the aqua blue one, which looks more sea green to me, but who knows.

Impressions so far:
-Adjusted to the 3D really quickly. I'm able to turn it all the way up without problems, but choose not to.

-Even when I was trying out the demo, I experienced no headaches or dizziness or any issues such as that. I got a slight headache after my first day, but that was more from a loud baby and barking dog.

-I got SSF4 on a whim because nothing else there interested me. I'm not really a big fighting game kind of guy, but this has been a fun way of getting into them.

-The camera and AR stuff, while low quality, has been probably the most fun I've had so far. At first I felt like I was having trouble focusing on the pictures, till the little birdie told me that you could adjust the 3D of your photos, even after you'd taken them, by using the circle pad. After that, everything worked out great for me, and it really blew me away. Maybe I'm just easily impressed, but I've taken somewhere around 53 photos in the 3 days I've had it.

-3DS Sound is neat, and I hope that maybe with some future updates they add more visualizers.

-No noticeable scratching yet, although there's been smudges, but I'm planning to get a screen cleaning wipe soon. Would the kind used for glasses work the same?

Ok, so one small thing I've noticed. While not having much trouble viewing the 3D, I have noticed that I'm having a harder time just looking at my computer screen. Maybe I'm just going crazy, but I feel like the words I'm typing are going out of focus. Has this happened to anyone else?

I wanted to try a 3DS out so we stopped at a Target in Raleigh. They had pilotwings on it.
It looks pretty neat, but I had to basically turn the 3d effect off in order to play the game. Is this common for the game or is it probably vision related?

Agreed, the 3D photos and AR stuff are immediately jaw-dropping to everyone I show them to. I took photos of our Easter gathering using the 3DS because of the 3D effect even though I own a much higher-quality camera.

Last night was the first time I loaded music onto my system (mostly out of curiosity about StreetPass) and that's when I discovered the visualizers and neat effects in 3DS Sound. This little system just keeps on giving!

I too have noticed that GAF and other websites have an odd 3D look to them after messing with my 3DS. It happens frequently and it hasn't been a bother. It's actually kind of cool.

PigSpeakers has an awesome sister! I can't imagine being that nice to one of my little brothers :p

That's probably because they're both over 24 and earning enough to buy one themselves though!

I finally played Pilotwings in 3d at a Walmart the other day, and wow at the stereo separation. Relative to slider strength, the cameras are a far greater distance apart than in any other game i've played, it's ridiculous. The first game i've played in which playing with the slider all the way up made me a tad uncomfortable.

Do you frequently keep your 3DS in the charging cradle?
And is the room you most frequently keep it in warm?

I'm thinking it has something to do with heat and/or condensation

Or it could connect with Wii2....as a form of control

I've succumbed to screen protectors after my smudged lines turned into scratches.
It's appalling the unit was designed in such a way but on the plus side, I have zero bubbles from the protectors and the scratches aren't noticeable when the unit is on (which is all the time, think I've only fully turned it off once)

When I'm not on campus (all day most days), it is. Otherwise it's in my bag sharing some tight space.

High 80s outside, low 80s in my house, and dry as a bone here in the Arizona desert.

People have mentioned that the text on GAF looks like it's floating off the screen after playing the 3DS. Never experienced it myself.

I had that for a few days but it stopped. I guess my brain and eyes had to go through an adjustment period. Anyone who had this problem before still experience this?

Maybe it has to do with impact of closing the shell or how long you were playing before closing it. Not sure butthe lines seem to be extremely common

And yes, your eyes will eventually "adjust" to 3D vision after extend periods of use. however some games like Rayman that have "strong" 3D effects can/may still give you eye strain, etc. I think it just depends on the individual game and how well the devs made their 2 cameras. Nintendo games seem to have extremely good Cameras.

It's cheap shitty tech, that can be used to communicate with other cheap shitty devices. Whenever they come up with the next equivalent of Pokéwalker, it's easier to have it communicate that way than make a device with wi-fi or something built in.
