So on sunday I am getting OOT and picking up a second game for half off at target:

what should I get?

I already have:

Pilotwings
Ghost Recon

what is your opinion?

Have you ever played Rayman 2 or Street Fighter IV? If you haven't, then those are probably worth $20.

Hows ridge racer? Graphics better than the psp version?

It's a really fun game.

I would say that the graphics are on par from what I remember... the 3D helps makes it look more eye popping though (of course).

I'm watching a replay of the Philadelphia Phillies and Seattle Mariners game and there's a large 3DS banner behind home plate. I wish I could post a screenshot of it, but the weird thing is with the exception of "3DS" and the Nintendo logo there's a bunch of words written in Japanese. At least it might be a bunch of words, it might be one word I don't read Japanese.

But my point is, obviously Nintendo is trying to do some advertising, so why are they putting up giant signs written in Japanese at an American baseball game? I don't think many are going to be able to understand it. Just seems really weird.

Edit- here's a clip to a highlight of the game and you can clearly see the sign right in the opening seconds.

This is nothing new. Nintendo has always advertised that way during Seattle games.

lol, its because the mariners majority owner is Yamauchi the former president of Nintendo. Not only that but Ichiro, one of the biggest Japanese baseball stars, plays for the mariners. Mariners games are broadcast back in Japan so the Mariners games are actually advertising for Japanese audiences as well as American viewers.

WHY ARE THERE PEOPLE WHO STILL DON'T KNOW THIS

So... What's the deal? The left side is my old 3DS and the right side is for my latest 3DS.

I do hope my total price stays at $0.00...

I'm done with screen protectors. I've gone through 3 different types with 3 different 3DSs and it's been a nightmare trying to put them on each time. Will Nintendo replace the console if the top screen gets scratched by bottom ridge?

Alright, couldn't resist. Cashed in my Amazon Chase card's reward points and managed to pick up a Aqua Blue 3DS, Hori Compact Case and Hori Screen Protectors for a total of $213.07.

Taking a weekend trip next weekend so I have eight hours (four hours per way) to kill so I figured now is the time to grab it. Having it shipped to my workplace as I'm there all day, and I was afraid standard shipping wouldn't make it to me by Thursday so I had to pay up for two-day shipping for the first time in my Amazon life.

Going to pick up OoT this weekend at Target or Best Buy. (Trying to decide what's the best deal.)

Congrats! I'm pretty close to getting some more Amazon reward points, I'll probably put the money towards Bit.Trip Saga when it releases next month.

Anyone else LOVE the 3DS hardware? I feel like it strikes an amazing balance between retro and modern. Maybe because I'm playing all these old games off the Virtual Console/3D Classics, but I just love holding this thing in my hands.

Are 3DS eStore point cards available in stores yet?
I'm thinking about importing a US 3DS (to Australia) to save money, but I've read that the eStore will only accept American credit cards. I can't see any pre paid cards on eBay.

Save your money, even at half off I'm not sure any of the other games are entirely worth it at this point. Aug isn't too far away, some nice releases coming soon. Enjoy OOT while you have the lull with 3DS, might not have it later on.

Cubic Ninja... you will have a lot of fun with the game.

I've spent 55 hours on Ghost Recon already, and I'm considering replaying the campaign in hard mode. Oh god, what's wrong with me? :D

Here's mine. I live in JP with a US 3DS, so I only have one 3DS game that's not from the e-shop. Steel Diver hasn't been sent to me here yet.

all of the above are with 100% completion for those games, btw =) also, professor Layton = Professor Layton and the Unwound Future.

Since the 3DS keeps track of everything, I started playing all my DS games on it, just so I can see how many hours I've logged.

Finally got my 3DS today. Went for the blue as I'm sick of always getting black . The Blue is surprisingly nice. Especially the outer coating. Got SF and Pilotwings. Face Raiders is a lot of fun. Loved it

Anyway Downloaded pretty much all the free stuff from the EShop. What I was wondering is Can I purchase points using a New Zealand credit card (PAL region) even though my 3ds is North American?

It should work as I'm able to buy points on my Japanese 3DS using my US credit card.

You could but since the recent update last week you can't use Non US credit cards on the US 3DS, it'll just refuse your credit card.

Have you been only getting dead pixels on your 3DS?

Well it had a badly damaged screw as well. Why they allowed that to happen is beyond me. Anyways I'm not too worried. A friend who sent in his Wii said that it would have costed him so and so to repair it but they did it free even without a warranty.

Thank you because I honestly did not know that.

But they're playing again in Seattle right now and just a second ago (I'm in Philly so I'm listening to the Phillies commentators) the guys broadcasting noticed the Japanese sign behind the plate and started making fun of it. One asked the other "Can you read that?" and then basically a bunch of hilarity ensued.

So while I totally get what you're saying and why they do it, it's really a pretty poor idea. I'm sure there's better ways to advertise to the Japanese audience, and there are absolutely better ways to advertise to the American audience than putting your ads in a language they can't read.

Not really sure if it's worth mentioning, but with the update, whenever you view a Mii in the Mii Plaza that has recently played a DSiWare, 3DS, or any eShop games, you have the option to have the 3DS auto-direct you to that game's information in the eShop. Pretty nifty I guess.

My play times so far are

Times Played - 17

Legend Of Zelda - Ocarina Of Time

Picked up Zelda + Ridge Racer.

Ridge Racer is still sealed. Debating getting Pilotwings instead. Thoughts on such a trade or a different choice altogether?

It says "Nintendo" 3DS, then on the right side the kanji Nin Ten Dou.

I've enjoyed Pilotwings far more than Ridge Racer.

Same here. I liked Ridge Racer more at first but once I spent more time with Pilotwings I realized how good it is. I really feel like gaming journalists dropped the ball on the reviews for that one.

Yeah, I've gone back to it the last few days and I'm completely addicted again. Trying to get 3 red stars on every mission. Already struggling :p

Ridge Racer was cool as a 'first 3d' experience but it felt really dated.

I would pick Ridge Racer easily over Pilot Wings. But then again, I'm a huge RR fan.

The problem is Pilot Wings doesn't feel like a complete game. It's not far removed from the "fly around wuhu island" mini game in Wii Sports Resort. And it's the same damn island. Just one location in the entire game? To me, that was a huge misstep.

Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is solid and if you're the kind of person who has to 100% get all the golds, then you may really enjoy this. But if you're not, this game is going to seem really light on content. Ridge Racer, on the other hand, is a full game experience. And while it's not the best RR by any means, driving around in 3D is fairly satisfying. I really enjoyed it.

Works for me. Will stop by Best Buy on the way home tomorrow and swap it out.

Also might spend the $25 gift card on Super Mario 64 DS.

Everyone's been recommending Ghost Recon and SF4, but I'm terrible at both genres.

Edit: I have a shitload of Goozex points that I need to blow. I'll throw Ridge Racer in my requests list and add a few trade tokens. (I assume any Pilotwings I receive from Goozex will already have their Club Nintendo activated)

Edit 2: In the meantime I still have Ridge Racer DS to complete. :P

I don't think Pilotwings is very fun. Flying around is always very slow and not very exciting. I don't even care about it being short, everything being in the same island, or doing missions over and over again. I just think it's boring as hell. I had a lot of fun with RR though. I have about 27 hours played on that.

Is Dragon Lair a quality purchase through DSiWare if I've never played the game before? Good port?
I don't know, DSiWare games are only 20MBs or so, so the FMVs are probably highly compressed.

Also... you never played it, but you know how it works, right? FMV games like Dragon's Lair aren't made anymore for a reason.

Reggie confirming 3D videos and Netflix this summer ftw! Can't wait for 3D movies on the go!

Source.

"We've got the 3D movie service still on track for the summer. We've got Netflix still on track for the summer."

They'll fix it. I will be sending mine pretty soon. This problem seems to be affecting plenty =(.
