Nintendo Dev Roundtable ["We are working very hard on Pikmin."]

Posted 6:37 PST

Nintendo of America has now apparently confirmed a full-fledged remake of Ocarina of Time for the 3DS, so those demos opening up the show are a taste of a real game.

From gamespot.

Re: Wii/3DS. If you think about it, look at all 1st party Wii games we know about-how many are being made by a Nintendo EAD team? Zelda and probably Wii Party? If I had to bet its all 3DS and preliminary Wii2 stuff at this point.

He said that gameplay on Skyward Sword is almost complete, and the graphics are being polished.

Why not Holiday 2010 then?

Launch title for Wii HD.

Didn't Twilight Princess teach you anything? :lol But yeah, I'd love it this year.

Probably March 2011, a slot Nintendo likes to release big titles.

The 3DS can allow game notifications to be "baked into" the hardware, meaning game requests or information can be shared by games all the time, even if your handheld is in sleep mode or while you're playing a different game.
I absolutely looooove this. I cant wait to see how different games use it.

So we didn't see it last E3 because they just finished the gameplay and the graphics weren't done, nice to know.

And if there are almost done, why 2011!

However, since he couldn't guarantee it would arrive this year, he'd rather take his time and get it right.

Did wonders for Super Mario Galaxy 2, so I trust in you Nintendo. :D

He said they need to make a few more dungeons but it's mostly complete.

In this Zelda, Link is a little boy born into a land above the clouds called Skyloft.

then, enel eats the thunder thunder fruit and threatens his land

a long and seemingly pointless arc follows, ending in an amazing payoff

Nintendo looks to their home market first and it isn't doing too hot, hardware selling wise or software support wise. Sales have definitely peaked..the only question is how long Nintendo wants to ride the downward slope.
Wii hardware and software shipment totals were actually up y-o-y in Japan last fiscal year. Claiming that they're just riding it out is a bit premature.

It's the "master sword."
# Posted 6:46 PST

The sword possesses intelligence, and will assume the semi-human form in the teaser poster shown last year.
# Posted 6:46 PST

The reason he goes down is in the title--it's the Skyward Sword.

WTF does this mean GAF?!?!?!?

It means that it's a sword from the gods.

One day, he learns there is a land below the clouds ruled by evil forces.

However, the revelation prompts a series of events which forces him to go to the land beneath the clouds.

It means all the speculation is right. That fairy chick was his master sword

Yeah I figured as much for hardware..but I don't expect that to continue the rest of the year with no NSMB Wii or price drop.

And software I was really talking about 3rd party support which is basically dead.

Pretty much what I was thinking. :lol

so link is from some kind of heaven, and he gives the master sword to the mortal realm?

maybe this is how hylians came to exist in the first place (since tp had the city in the sky and the story of creation)

Miyamoto, not surprisingly, was very embarressed about the Zelda live demo earlier today, but he held it together nonetheless

But it isn't a fairy chick. That's the sword's chosen form. It just likes looking like a fairy chick.

I'm sure the name 'Skyward Sword' comes from the fact that you point it towards the sky to do a charged projectile attack, as shown in the demo.

For what it's worth, Aonuma is a ridiculously huge One Piece fan

There's a picture of Aonuma and Oda standing together at a convention and signing each other's stuff
