Ninteno bestätigt Revolution für Deutschland 2006

12.01.06 - Nintendo of Europe gibt bekannt, dass die Revolution-Konsole 2006 in Deutschland auf den Markt kommen soll.

Just curious to know how well the DS is selling in the last few months in Europe in comparison to the PSP. About on par? Selling better? Worse?

On par. Hardware wise anyway.

France should account for around 750K. That would leave 1.3 million in the rest of Europe according to the 3.5 million figure NOE mentioned in its latest press release.

Roughly Summing Up, as of Dec 31st:

DS
UK: 900k
France: 750k
Germany: 520k

Others: 1.3m

Total: 3.5m

Nintendogs
UK: 500k
France: 350k
Germany: 300k

Others: 450k

Total: 1.6m

Mario Kart
UK: 250k
France: 175k
Germany: 150k

Others: 225k

Total: 800k

Probably depends on the territory. Nintendo of Germany has reported that DS and PSP are number one and two @ handheld sales. In France it also seems as if DS sales were much better than PSP sales since Nintendogs was released.

Are ou sure about this? I didnt know that Spain, Italy and the Netherflems were so strong.

Of course we are! ;)

I wonder which country is bigger gameswise, Netherlands/Benelux or Spain/Italy. Then there's the Scandinavian countries and all other European countries where games have penetrated the mainstream (like Slovenia for example).

The hardware numbers for the rest of Europe are more or less known as we know the total sales for Europe (3.5m).

Well the Scandinavian market is mainly PC-games. The seven most top-selling games in Sweden in December were all on PC.

PSP is quite advertised here in Slovenia. Still no luck with DS, but atleast we have new games in Muellers.
Anyway, numbers are below 1000 for both. Also, consoles are not very popular here, PC is the king. But piracy levels are high.

according to Nintendo Spain Nintendogs sold 200k 4 months before their predicitions (march), so 200k as of Dec 15th on Spain

And with the latest shipment in early January, Nintendogs numbers in Spain are around 260,000. Really impressive considering the DS userbase must be around 400k-450k

Btw, DS is still sold out at many places in Spain (Mario Kart and Nintendogs bundles are almost non-existant). NoS will ship more units later this month.

I think that Europe's gamers have understood what a good machine with good games is.

I mean for Nintendo DS of course, but also for PSP, even if the second still not have a true blockbuster, in my opinion.

And sales for DS are far better than in USA. This is true not only for Hardware sales, but overall for Software sales.

I hope that DS will remain succeffull as longer as the maschine has good games, both First and Third Party.

Who cares about Europe, wheres the middle east sales numbers?!

Actually, they fall under other. Nintendo Europe is in charge of Isreal, Kuwait, Afghanistan and any other countries in that area where Nintendo is sold officially. South Africa as well.
