Are there any rumored 3rd parties aside from the obvious Sega? I'm sort of worried we won't see any third party games. At this point, I should be expecting much, but I don't know what's happening with all the Japanese developers.

Nibris!

Okay, but seriously, maybe Platinum's announcement is in reference to a new Wii U game. And Ubisoft reiterated support for platform, so maybe them? I think CoD is a safe bet to come to the console, but they'll probably keep that quiet.

I'm hoping Namco shows some level as support as well. I don't know about Capcom at this point. Konami doesn't seem like they're going to put any support on the Wii U as of now.

I wouldn't count on every major Platinum announcement being Wii U only. They did announce they're developing on PS4, so I don't know if it's wise to expect any more Wii U announcements until after Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 come out.

Namco is possible as a third-party that still seems Japan-centric. As Capcom tries to appeal more and more to the West, I see their alliance with Nintendo slipping away.

I agree, but if you're looking for "rumors" for third parties, you might as well throw the recent Platinum announcement into the hat.

Of course, rumors aside, we know with 100% certainty it's going to be Star Fox. ;)

Really hoping we'll get to see a glimpse of the 3DS version of Smash 4. I'm not buying a Wii U any time soon ($199 or bust), but I have a 3DS and it is ready for some Smashing.

Do we know if Smash 4 is the exact same game on 3DS and Wii U, or are the two versions going to be distinct and different?

Apparently the 3DS version will be more focused on single player while the Wii U version on multiplayer.
Something like... Subspace Emmisary for 3DS and Brawl for Wii U.
Don't expect more than two characters on screen for the 3DS version, just like any other fighting game.

You're free to do whatever you want but I'd buy the Wii U version over the 3DS one in a heartbeat

I think I just felt my hype get hit by a bus. :[ I really have no use for a Wii U, and I'm definitely not buying one at its current price. I'd hate to be forced to buy a console I'm not going to use just to play one single game.

I was really hoping the 3DS version would just be a straight handheld port of the Wii U version. I think the system could handle it...

What the hell? Where did this information come from?

When did they announce it? Not that I don't expect them to, just didn't know it was already confirmed.

I'd figure that Smash Bros 3DS will have something based off of the sticker system from Brawl and more single player content. Still multiplayer capable, but with a different focus. The Wii U version would allow you to import your customized characters.

What the hell? Where did this information come from?

http://andriasang.com/comw97/iwata_asks_smash_bros/

'Specifically, Sakurai feels that a portable system makes the game a more "individual" experience in that, compared to a console, it's easier to make players attached to the data that they've built up and collected. The fact that you're carrying the hardware with you makes for a more personal experience.'

Wow. Watching that original smash bros footage takes me back to 2000 A.D. At the time it was the best videogame ever made. So much fun with friends.

...

Where are these No More Heroes 3 rumors originating from?

It'll be kinda of hilarious if HBO and Martin hired Intelligent Systems to do a FE styled game for Game of Thrones.

We might actually get a decent GOT game, and FE already had incest.

Thanks a lot man, but I decided to use the openings/trailers for footage due to them being more epic, sorry, but I'm glad you showed me these, they look epic from the 30 sec of watching each video. Will save them to watch them later.

I don't think it was an "announcement" per se as much as they were listed on the PS4 developer list. Obviously that doesn't mean they're already making a game for it right now, but they clearly aren't planning to be exclusive to the Wii U.

Especially since none of their games for it have come out yet. I'm sure that if Bayo 2 and TW101 both bomb, Platinum will go somewhere else.

Screen size with a zoomed out camera might not handle it.

I hope you're wrong. I want my portable Smash. Playing the Vita version of PSABR really made me hungry for REAL Smash on a handheld system.

my prediction, only pure speculation, would be that the 3DS version would be a pure single player game and the Wii U would be a pure multiplayer game, and to get the most out of Smash Bros you're going to need both copies to transfarr stuff

Well, that comment was made last year (I think) so there's still a chance to make it look and work just like the Wii U version.
PSASBR is a great port on Vita so it can work the same way for 3DS, right?
Anyway, just wait a few more days. If they show both versions, it'll be easier for you :)

That sounds kind of horrible. I'd really like the same features on both systems, with maybe a few unique bits in each version to make them distinct enough to own both.

The multiplayer should be on 3DS and the single player should be on Wii U. Nobody needs to get left out!

I hope so. Even despite my distaste for some of Nintendo's modern decisions, I do love Smash Bros. I really want it to be as good as it can be, and I'd love to see a FULL Smash experience on my 3DS.

What the hell did I just look at 2 pages back?
Basically:

I had this dream where Iwata and I were in a sauna and Iwata kept smearing mayonnaise all over my body.

"Not there, Iwata," I pled, weakly.

"Ooo, we gonna butter you up, Neiteio. Gonna butter you up!" replied Iwata.

"Well, if you insist... I trust you Iwata."

I was then inserted between two slices of rye bread and fed to Reggie. :O

Stop please.

Before someone draws fan art of this.

I salute you, sir.

Here's my artistic interpretation:

Did we somehow all took drugs or something?

This is my 3rd E3 on GAF and I've never seen it get this crazy.

It sounds like your body might not be ready yet.

BY2K needs to be covered in mayo

Then his body will be ready

Don't you freaking dare!

sorry BY2K xD

We'll see. I'm in the dark like you are.

I would question one thing. If you like Smash, presumably you like other Nintendo franchises too. So I'd think you could find more than one single game you'd want to play on Wii U, right?

I just don't know. The weakness of the hardware has basically made it very difficult for me to get excited about buying one. I love Super Mario Galaxy, but I've never been a big fan of the NSMB games. Zelda is another series that I used to love but feel like has grown away from me as I get older. With hardware that really doesn't feel like a significant jump over current-gen, it's a tough proposition.

I mean, I bought my 3DS because I really liked the custom Zelda version and it was the last one my GameStop was ever going to get in stock. I'm no stranger to impulse purchases. But I'm really not feeling the same "pull" to the Wii U, especially since there's nothing out right now that I'd play on it. It'd pretty much be my "finish Xenoblade" machine until Smash came out.
