Nintendo 'fixing' StreetPass in the West.

I don't ever walk around with the huge XL in my pocket so I would probably never have gotten streetpass stuff. I guess this makes it a bit easier.

I guess I have the advantage of being a college student (Ohio State, nonetheless). I've had 458 StreetPass tags so far, which actually pales in comparison to a few people I know on campus.

I wish enough people owned a 3DS in the US for it to work in somewhat populated areas. Like, if the system was as popular as iPhones. I know that's unrealistic but I still think it would be cool if everyone walked around with one.

Hope they still keep the old proximity sharing intact since my convention going friends and I have essentially turned streetpassing into an actual game at anime/comic/VG conventions.

Still, it'll be nice to be able to complete puzzles throughout the year WITHOUT having to finish like 4-5 in the span of two days.

Just hope I can finally get more pink pieces. I've got about 3 puzzles completed (almost 5 since 2 need just 3 more normal pieces) aside from those damn pink pieces. I only finished one of them because of all the ones Nintendo gave with every piece available. I haven't even bothered with starting some puzzles (Mario Kart 7, Rhythm Heaven Fever, & I think one or two more) because it just means a higher chance of getting a piece I already have.

If anything, I wish they'd upgrade the game coin mechanic. Spend more coins to get a piece either for a specific puzzle or for a new piece period. Even more so for a random shot at a pink piece.

I get an average of 3 a day, commuting through a small section of Washington D.C.

It's odd. Never figured the people I see regularly on the bus or on the train to be 3DS owners.

HOW!?!?! I work on the hill and get MAYBE one a day taking the red line... The worst part is I work in a damn tourist attraction and still only get that many...

I'd say I average about 5 a week, but it's been less lately.

I have some 100 pieces left to complete I think which in the grand scheme of things isn't a whole lot but this feature will definitelyd help

Never had a problem getting streetpasses, but i'm in a super dense location--nyc.

Same here. I get at least two when I go out, three in my college. Though I could really use the puzzle pieces...

I've been taking my 3DS out with me less and less, and I've been building up more and more new puzzles. I can't manage all those puzzles. :(

I work on K street and I don't even get one a day. Weekend metro is the only time that I'll get street pass hits and it's usually orange line not red. I've stopped bringing my 3DS to work just because not enough street pass hits to justify it, and since I am in a cubical it's impossible to sneak in play time. And going out to lunch with a bunch of coworkers is frequent.

I leave it in my bag just to get the coins... But yeah streetpassing here is hard...

Great news for when streetpassing people gets kinda sparse when it's not convention season, so hopefully now I don't have to rely on Nintendo people to give me rare pink pieces (Dillon, I'm looking at you).

Granted, I have all of the puzzles complete at the moment, but still, I like being able to get more than 3 streetpasses on a given day when I go to work in San Francisco.

As it stands, I have over 1500+ in my Mii Plaza so it'd be nice to get more.

Hopefully, they'll make it so it reduces the chances of you getting a streetpass with someone that already has the same pieces as you. It's such a disappointing feeling when you finally get a streetpass when it happens so rarely only to discover that they don't have any new pieces for you.

That was the worst part for me during Fanime in May. Once I had finished all but one puzzle (Dillon), everyone I passed was missing the exact same pink piece... That was a whole lot of frustration for another week until Iwata arrived.

lol, carrying my 3DS around since I got it (2 weeks), still didn't 'streetpass' anyone.

I guess it's not really popular where I live. (never saw anyone playing handeld console in public since the smartphone invasion either)

So how does this work. Do I just walk by McDonalds and get streetpass data for all of my games, or only the one I have suspended at the moment?

I guess this is more a question about streetpass in general.

I work downtown, near McPherson Station. I commute through 3 or 4 NW public schools, so that could explain it.

._.

I only get one or two (and it's the same people) every day or so here. I must be working in the wrong part of SF Downtown.

Hopefully walking pass the bunch of Starbucks and McDonalds will finally get me more hats.

That's awesome. I usually get 10 tags or so every time I take my 3DS with me to Toronto. Would be nice to get a few more this way.

I've picked up about 650 puzzle pieces just from streetpassing people on transit and in downtown Vancouver

Lots of 3DS owners here

It may sound totally "duh," but make sure your wi-fi switch is on, too. There've been a couple of times where I've put the 3DS in my pocket or bag and the switch was off.

Darn. Was hoping they'd bump up the limit of street passes. I get 10 a day going to Uni, there must be people I'm missing.

Is there any easier way to get purple pieces? The ONLY people I've seen that have them are the Luigi Asian Invasion Squad and other promotional peeps.

I've completed all my minigames, pretty much with 3 trips to Japan. It's cheat mode in Japan.

Now I'm turning on StreetPass mainly to be a puzzle piece distributor.

Probably obvious tip :
Try to aim to finish up puzzles before moving onto another.
As bought puzzle pieces allocates to any random unsolved puzzle, so chances of getting a repeat across several puzzles is higher

I usually get 1 - 3 random hits a day
Some times none...

Add street pass to android and iPhone and link it too the Nintendo ID...
That could add some bonus hits

There are plenty of official Nintendo-recognized 3DS access points in Canada, so I think our chances are pretty good.

Yea, I know that there is the Nintendo Zone stuff, but this seems to be taking place at Starbucks, McDonald's, and other similar locations.

Monster Hunter allows up to 50 before you have to go and collect them, which indicates it's a design choice rather than a hard limit at 10. Hopefully Nintendo will also up the Plaza limit in the update.

I love this. I don't really struggle to get tags but sometimes I do. I'll go weeks without getting any. I do have a friend with a 3DS and he loves the social aspect. Of my 210 or so tags probably half are him. We only need about a dozen pink pieces for the current puzzles though. This will definitely help get tags for other games besides just NSMB2 and Mario Kart 7. I see those so much from strangers. I have got quite a few Fire Emblem tags at Disney World this week and also a couple from Soul Hackers which really surprised me.

Anything that expands on what is already there is a plus in my book.

I actually think it's a bad idea. The fun with StreetPass is that you know you passed someone else that carries around a 3DS. Now people will just bring it to the StreetPass place and stop carrying it around everywhere.

I have like 400 street passes and I always felt that this could be improved. Some numbers being thrown around here are soul crushing.

Oh neat, it's like they're putting features of Near into Streetpassing, which is great for us Western users. The best part is that the old method STAYS in.
