Nintendo gamer joining PC Gaming: Suggestions?

nintendo's talent lies in their level design, and deus ex 1 and half-life 1 has absolutely incredible level design.

I understand Deus Ex "Classic" is kind of clunky nowadays. Should I play it before looking at Human Revolution?

I played Half-Life once on a home console, but it had some serious loading issues and I got bored of waiting for "Loading...." One of these days I'll probably check out the PC version. I played maybe a half hour to an hour of HL2 on Orange Box, but hey.

Give it a shot, at least. The presentation is quite clunky in this day and age (hell, it was kinda clunky in 2000) but it's still awesome.

Thanks for everyone's help. I picked up Alpha Protocol on an impulse (for $2? How could I not?), which I'll check out once I have my new setup.

If anyone wants to add me on Steam that thinks they will actually play with me on TF2 or whatever, I'm "CookiesforBreakfast." Thanks again!

All right, as a Nintendo fan, here are my favorite (non-FPS, non-RTS) PC/Mac games:
• And Yet It Moves (also on WiiWare)
• Aquaria
• Braid
• Cave Story (also on WiiWare and DSiWare)
• Fortix
• Garry's Mod (sure, it's kind of an FPS, but you don't have to play it that way. You can just spawn physics objects and throw them around with the Gravity Gun if you want)
• Machinarium
• Plants vs. Zombies (also on DS/DSiWare)
• Portal
• Portal 2
• Toki Tori (also on WiiWare)
• World of Goo (also on WiiWare)
• Zen Bound 2
• Anything from any of the Humble Bundles.

Edit:

I can't seem to find you, could you maybe post a link to your profile?

I think that's where the talent of all the best developers lies.

As for the OP, so you basically want action adventure game and RPGs that aren't hard M-rated games?

I think Deus Ex was a good suggestion. They are in first person but you can play the games in a ton of different ways without direct confrontation and they have a lot of RPG elements. If you play Deus Ex Human Revolution stealth-like it actually becomes very similar to Metal Gear.

From there I guess I would just say track down the best RPGs and adventure games. You won't find very much akin to Zelda or Uncharted on the PC outside of ports but you might like the puzzle and exploration elements of point n' click adventure games.

Maybe Dragon Age Origins is worth trying out. It's M-rated but it's not gratuitous at all. I'd say it's slightly more violent than the Lord of the Rings movies.

VVVVVV is an awesome plataformer that is on one of the humble bundles !

And yes, Burnout Paradise is as awesome in the "racer that is not a racer"... with the exploration of something like mario 64 mixed with car destruction and arcade fun that you find in games like ... mario kart, but without itens
