Nintendo holding Wii U press event at NYC on Sept 13th

Actually just show me the system OS, the launch date and price and other launch details and I will be a happy camper!

$250. No hard drive. 16GB onboard storage maximum.

October or November release. October seems like a weird month, but November seems so late into the holiday season. However November gives them an excuse to only do one shipment of systems before Christmas and ensure everyone goes bananas over them, hopefully creating a hype that hasn't been seen since years 2 and 3 of the Wii's lifespan.

No cloud storage for usernames/purchased games still. Failure to keep up with near decade-old standards of digital purchasing once again.

Is anyone hype for this? I'm not buying it until it has atleast two games I must have. Pikmin 3 is one of them, and that doesn't even come out until next year.

Pikmin 3 isn't coming until next year? Did we get confirmation of that?

This is for NOA. Does anyone know if NCL will be having a fall conference as well? I'd imagine that as being more interesting

I am sure there will be and I expect it to be announced within the next day or so.

I really, really want Pikmin 3. After playing NSMB2, my modicum of "want" for NSMB:U has dropped to complete apathy. And this is from a huge Mario platformer fan.

I hope they show me something so that I don't feel like a fucking moron when I buy a Wii U just to play Pikmin 3 with pointer controls, something I would've been more than happy to buy for $50 for Wii to play on my SDTV.

Solid Snake trailer came out of goddamn nowhere. Four months is enough time to put out a BS hype trailer, right?

Well, we know Smash Bros Brawl was announced in May 2005, but development didn't start until October. By May 2006, the game's first trailer was shown off. According to Sakurai, Smash Bros 4 development roughly started in Q1-Q2 2012. By June, we knew Sakurai had teamed up with Namco Bandai to work on the project and that a prototype had been made. I suppose Sakurai will save the reveal of the game for E3 especially since he's got his hands full developing two versions of the game (which may not even be the same) and likely wants to show them off at the same time.

Mario U, Zombie U, Rayman Legends, Project p, and Pikmin 3 are most likely the must haves, but i think only mario and rayman will be at launch. They hired another company to help with WiiU online, so they should be ok, considering they already stated that they were attempting to create an account system similar to what we have on other systems. And accomplishments have to be tied to something. 16gb would be too small. 40 or 50gb minimum. Im hoping for october.

There were plenty of titles confirmed for launch at E3 and I was almost certain Pikmin 3 was not one of them. There were launch date, and launch 'window' titles. Pretty sure Pikmin 3 was in the latter camp, and if you aren't making it to the launch date you probably aren't making it in 2012.

I'm still annoyed over the possibility that I will only have Stereo/Dolby Pro Logic 2 sound on Wii U games (because I have no HDMI on my receiver).

But I don't want to wait three and a half weeks!

I'm guessing preorders start the same/next day? I need to get myself locked in right away.

About time...
The wait for this has been really frustrating.

so this is a repeat of the wii? i didn't know they pulled this kind of shit back then. i thought all the details were released at e3 or tgs that year, but i guess i'm mistaken.

i thought nintendo was being secretive due to a high price of wii u that they didn't want to advertise and have consumers speak negatively about it.

It's practically to the day:

Wii price and date was announced September 14th, 2006 at a special event in (I think) New York

This is definitely going to be one of those holidays where I spend more money on myself than all the combined presents for the family.

It will be $300, it is not an unreasonable price and gives them some room to move after launch if things don't go well. I expect post launch sales to be good.

It was pretty much on Nintendo's E3 press release.

Nintendo has already confirmed/refuted some of this.

Way back at last year's E3 I think they said 8GB onboard storage with external HDD compatibility, but I could see 16 maximum.

They also already confirmed an account system. They didn't say at launch but they did say they were doing one. If they intend to have first party games downloadable digitally day-and-date with retail though I imagine they're trying to get that up and running for launch. Even the current Wii/3DS system however allows you to re-download games.

I don't know about MUST have games, but the launch window already has at least four games that I would certainly like to play. I could definitely talk myself into buying one.

So, any E3 titles that we're not expecting it to make 2012? I'd say that LEGO City Stories and Project P-100 (which will probably get its final title at the event) are guaranteed to get bumped to next spring at the absolute earliest, and I doubt that Nintendo is worried about making sure Game & Wario is out by the end of this year, as well. I'd be willing to bet, though, that Pikmin 3 makes a repeat of the first game and release about a month after the launch, securing it as a 2012 title.

Third party stuff is trickier, but largely because of just how many games are on the way. I'd say that the super big stuff is guaranteed to show up on launch day (Assassin's Creed 3, EA Sports, Zombi U, Batman: Arkham City, Mass Effect 3, and the "surprise announcement" of CODBLOPS2), but what about other titles? I think the Ubisoft stuff is safe since they always have about a bajillion titles at Nintendo launches these days, and Darksiders 2 should be safe as well, since it's about the only thing THQ has. But what about stuff like Tekken Tag Tournament 2, or even Capcom's mystery game?

well i booked the 13th and the 14th off just in case. now i have something to look forwards to even if the press event sucks.

and hell, even if that sucks GAF will be fucking hilarious.
