Nintendo holding Wii U press event at NYC on Sept 13th

I am not overhyping myself for this. I AM NOT.

One thing I wish they would do but I know Nintendo would never do it, unify the eShop between 3DS and Wii/Wii U. I'd love for that system to be more akin to the relationship the iPad and iPhone/iPod have, buy for one have for all. Maybe in a perfect world...

This...I would even settle for a discount to purchase across both platforms.

I won't be getting a Wii U simply because it can't play Gamecube games. I still regularly play them and I do not have any more room in my setup to add a fourth console just to play NSMBWU.

Than I take it you won't get a PS4 or Xbox 720 as well?.

Also the Wii plays GameCube games and the GameCube will most likely be on the Wii U Virtual Console.

So how long does Nintendo take to transfer the Virtual Console library? I assume there will be VC on WiiU. Also, am I correct in thinking all the purchases on Wii will transfer over?

Yes. Nintendo confirmed at E3 this year that Virtual Console titles will be transferable to Wii U via SD card. No word yet whether or not the feature will be available day one of Wii U's launch. We also don't know if Nintendo will be doing new weekly downloads of VC titles on Wii U.

Sounds promising. Thanks bro.

In addition to launch titles, what's in the box, launch date and price, the 2006 September conference detailed other news:

- Wii Sports Bowling debuted
- Wii Sports Boxing debuted
- Mii Channel debuted
- News and Weather channels announced
- Twilight Princess's final controls are debuted (quite different from the E3 build)

It is really hard to imagine the Wii without the Mii channel or Wii Sports bowling. It will be interesting to see what is news that is central to what the Wii U becomes.

The rest of the NintendoLand games...
The OS/Nintendo Network details...
The packed in software/demos...

Looking forward.

Pics or it didnt happen.

I think Nintendo Land is basically an evolution of Wii Sports, except its not really about sports anymore.

True. Surprised they showed the Wii Sports Golf during E3 2011 on Wii U but then nothing of the sort at E3 2012. Guess Wii Sports U is for a later release.

Other than the fact they are mini-game based genre and can use Mii's

Nintendoland and Wii-Sports are not much alike

Wii Sports was generic sports games to demonstrate basic motion controls to simulate sports

Nintendoland are actual mini-games in settings of popular core Nintendo franchises to promote awareness to the casual gamer who would otherwise ignore those franchises

They're similar to each other in the same way that they're both similar to Mario 64 -- they show off the new capabilities of the system.

Nintendoland doesn't particularly showcase the uPad any better to play the game, it could be easily played with Wiimotes too

Oh, that Wii Sports. I guess it would seem Nintendo scrapped it,but then again, Nintendo doesn't always leave its tech demo ideas dead. They did bring back Steel Driver for 3DS when it was originally shown off as a DS tech demo. Another example would be Luigi's Mansion getting a sequel on the 3DS after we learned Nintendo was secretly experimenting with 3D on Luigi's mansion for GameCube. Watching the Wii U trailer again, the Sports stuff got some of the biggest positive reactions from the audience.

The Luigi game in particular is highly in line with their particular idea of asymmetric gameplay. For the others, I would probably agree with your point, but that one game seems to be treated like the centerpiece of NLand.

edit: How many of the games in Nintendoland have we seen in action so far?

I believe five have been officially unveiled. We've seen Luigi, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Takamaru, and Animal Crossing, but we've also seen a bit of the F-Zero game. Metroid will probably be derived from Battle Mii from E3 2010.

Yeah, which is why I thought maybe the golf or baseball could be in Nintendoland. Doesn't need to be a full game, just those two sports or something in one attraction.
