Nintendo needs to let Pikmin go.

OP can go and download the demo in the eShop and then give an opinion.
It's easily my most played Wii U game with hunderd of hours in it. The challenge mode is awesome and it led me to buy all DLC.

Pikmin 3 is the best RTS I've ever played. That game is pure magic.

This. And I've played a lot of RTS on PC in the last 15 years...

While I would like both Pikmin and Metroid games to be made, if I had to choose between both and sacrificing Pikmin meant that we'd get good Metroid games again, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Good thing that's so far from how it works that bringing up the idea makes one sound detached from reality.

The only reason they could have to drop pikmin is if the joycon can't replicate the pointing aiming from wiimotes well. I can't go back to the GameCube version controls.

Pointer controls are great but no more C Stick swarming is poop. Bring it back pleeeeease.

The fact Pikmin still exists and 2D Metroid doesn't makes me cry.

Keep crying

I'd be totally onboard for a 4th Pikmin game for the switch, especially if it means Pikmin on the go.

Metroid is just a series I'm okay with being gone now. The last couple of games haven't done much for the series and the only fun one was a fan remake

I don't really like the games that much (reliance on time limits ruins it for me) but I like the characters and want to continue seeing them exist.

My only gripe with Pikmin, despite having enjoyed all three games in the series, is that the games look, sound and feel so similar to each other that I've been growing tired of them and especially their aesthetics over the years. When I say "similar", I mean compared to how much series like Mario, Mario Kart, Metroid, Wario Land, F-Zero and Zelda (etc.) change art styles etc. between games to keep them feel fresh I mean.

Now granted, this seems to be a more or less common thing in modern Nintendo IP that have become succesful, since Animal Crossing and Splatoon follow a similar path in the sense that their sequels also roughly keep the same art and feel while mostly improving upon the gameplay or renewing the story and characters etc. Also common to those two series and Pikmin is that they are all highly popular in Japan, which pretty much guarantees their continuation regardless of what we think about them here.

Oh god there's more of them.

How about you just say "I wish there was a new 2D Metroid game" instead of wishing a game lots of people love didn't exist?

Of course, since Pikmin began its existence in 2001, there have been two further Pikmin games. How many 2D Metroid games? Oh, two as well.

I dont get your logic OP. If Pikmin did not exist it would not make a new Metroid game any more or less likely. Because the team that makes the Pikmin games is not the same that makes Metroid games 2D or 3D. Plus Pikmin is great so why have less of a good tihng.

Pikmin existing offends me because it means they're wasting their time making a bad game rather than making good games.

First post is absolutely right. I see no reason why a series that is selling reasonably well, has a fantastic track record wrt quality and is developed with a relatively small team should be terminated. Pikmin 3 is in my top ten games ever made. So is Metroid Prime, but just because one series does not get a new main entry for a generation does not make demanding another one to die reasonable.

When I was younger I picked up Pikmin solely off the box art on gamecube.

I never played anything like it. No previous game skills helped here. It was time management and micromanagement the game. I loved it. I spent hours controlling my army of little flower men and genuinely hated letting any of them die. To the point of sacrificing corpses, ship parts and time just to keep my boys going and get them back to the ship before nightfall. Loved that game. Must have completed it at least 3-4 times.

Fast forward a couple years and I borrow my mothers Wii
seriously
and pick up the re releases of Pikmin and 2. I finish Pikmin 1 again, still loving it as much as I did years ago. I got maybe half way through number 2 and just lost interest. The caves, while an understandable mechanic to introduce, just didn't grab me like the large open levels of 1. I never played the games again.

I still to this day haven't had an experience like I did playing Pikmin 1 on gamecube. It was amazing, memorable and charming while being challenging for my young brain. Ill probably never go back to a nintendo console and as such, will never get to play through Pikmin 2 and 3. But it would be a damn shame if some kid or anyone for that matter never gets to experience playing a game like Pikmin for the first time on their shiny new console just because you aren't happy its not #1 on the charts.

Games like Pikmin deserve to be made and developed. Games that provide experiences as unique and fresh as Pikmin 1 did are now resigned to a lost art of the medium.

Safe to say, even though theyre not making Pikmin 4 for me, I'm happy they're making it.

I can understand if some people find Pikmin boring, or don't like the visual style of the games. What i can't believe is, how someone who actually played it, can claim that Pikmin 3 is a BAD game.

Yeah I'm "trolling" Nintendo fans by wanting one Nintendo game rather than another Nintendo game.

Do you people even know what trolling is? I hate Pikmin. It's garbage. That's not a troll, it's an opinion.

Please recognise that your opinion is in the minority. Please also consider sharing said opinion in a less inflammatory way.

I'd be willing to bet more people would say Super Metroid is the best game ever than any PIkmin game.

I'd be willing to bet more people would say Angry Birds is a better game (i.e. they've heard of it) than Super Metroid. But where does this line of thought get you? Gamedev isnt a democracy anyway.

Don't see the need to piss on one beloved IP to raise the case for another beloved IP.

I would sacrifice Pikmin if it meant freeing up resources for some other Nintendo franchises. I like Pikmin, but I've never loved.

Never played a Pikmin game before, but the series is definitely liked by some people.

Nintendo has already left F-Zero, Metroid, Wave Race, and 1080 dormant. Why would you want them to drop yet another series?

I don't care about the people. If Mr Random Guy is happy Pikmin exists, good for him

That doesn't mean it doesn't make me mad Nintendo continue to make trash like Pikmin and Splatoon rather than giving me the 2D Metroid game I want

You know, describing Splatoon and Pikmin as "garbage" or "trash" doesn´t add to your point, in fact it makes your opinion look less valid and uninformed. Not liking a game doesn´t mean that game is bad, specially when you´re talking about gems like Pikmin and Splatoon which are, surprise, realy good games from every objective point of view. If you can´t admit this there´s no reason to think that you´re not a troll.

Trolling derives from a fishing term; t's about baiting other people for replies. You could say it's your opinion, but it was clearly phrased in a way to get people to react.

It's one of their best franchises it's a shame no one gets this. There's definitely more sales potential for the series compared to something like fzero. There's room for both imo!

Save your breath, it's pretty clearly a troll account. Not even trying at this point either, adding in Splatoon, a breakout hit and a new premier Nintendo franchise after only two years, and calling it trash, well, we've seen his cards now.

Keep your words sweet, sugar.

I too think Super Metroid is the GOAT but would like to see more Pikmin.

Thankfully I can't see you lasting long around here. Your posting style is awful and condescending. Sugar? Get the fuck out.

Opinions are opinions, but if you express them like an ass, well your just being an ass with an opinion.

Even though I believe Pikmin 1 is the tightest game in the series, I do think there is untapped potential in making Pikmin into a multi-player game that competes against other PC online RTS games for aesthetic mayhem. Or they can beef up the campaign modes or co-op modes by letting another player take control of the planet's enemies.

Metroid definitely isn't going to get better in first person than Prime 2. Metroid in third person still has a ton of untapped potential though.

You're really missing out. Pikmin 3 is the best game in the series and is a lot more like 1. It's one of my favorite games ever; an amazing campaign, super fun multiplayer and a handsome amount of really challenging missions that force you to maximize your efficiency. Can't recommend it enough.

If I don't like something it's bad. I don't need to be delicate to avoid hurting your feelings. I paid money for both Splatoon and Pikmin and hated both. I don't care if other people like them.

Calling someone's opinion garbage is significantly worse than sarcastically calling someone sugar.

If someone likes Pikmin that's fine. I'm not "more right". I'm not the one telling people they're wrong.

The bolded is pretty fucking childish. There's plenty of things I don't like but can still understand others do and therefore must have some enjoyable qualities that I just don't enjoy. Consoles, other games etc. Taste is subjective.

Grow up.

It's not garbage just because you don't like it for your bullshit personal reasons, sorry. The games are objectively well designed. Your subjective feelings are actually completely irrelevant to the quality of the series. It's nothing more than petty mean-spirited selfishness to say Pikmin shouldn't exist.
