Put a spring in your step next year with Nintendo

15 December 2008. Nintendo’s New Year resolution for 2009 is to deliver an exciting and diverse range of titles suitable for all tastes on both Nintendo DS and Wii, from great new mystery games and a brand new active health game to new slants on old favourites.

From February 20th, users can put a spring in their step and get in tune with their personal walking routine, with the exciting release of Walk with me! Do you know your walking routine? Everyone knows that walking is an essential part of a balanced and healthy lifestyle and this unique new Nintendo DS software will help players find out if they’re really active enough with the help of two Activity Meters that come bundled as part of the software.

By using an Activity Meter, which is a specially designed pedometer, to count steps minute-by-minute, players can record up to a week’s worth of life rhythm data and set targets for walking routines. Players can compare results with up to four friends, family members or even the pet dog and can also rank themselves against the rest of the world with this fun new Nintendo DS software. Walk with me! also allows players to use their Mii characters for the first time on their Nintendo DS - transfer them over from Wii or create new ones in Walk with me!

Also available in February is Mystery Case Files: Millionheir, a simple and gripping observation game designed exclusively for Nintendo DS. Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir combines a fun and intriguing mystery storyline with seek-and-solve gameplay to create an adventure that can be enjoyed by everyone. It can also be played with or against others through the competitive and co-op multiplayer modes.

Wii follows the trend of its handheld partner with a great line-up ahead in 2009! As the new year draws close, Nintendo is getting ready to deliver classic games Pikmin and [/b]Mario Power Tennis[/b], now presented in Widescreen, to Wii in the NEW PLAY CONTROL! series of games. Originally released on the Nintendo GameCube, the games utilise new play controls which provide a fresh twist to the gameplay. The Wii versions provide fun and engaging entertainment to those who played the games originally, as well as providing a whole new experience to those who are just about to discover them!

Originally released on Nintendo GameCube across Europe in 2002, Pikmin enters the world of the strangely co-operative Pikmin creatures as they help Captain Olimar on his galactic quest to rebuild his spaceship. The NEW PLAY CONTROL!
version utilises Wii Controls for a fast and fluid gameplay experience. Using both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, with predominant use of the Pointer System for quick strategic moves, the joy of Pikmin can now be experienced by a whole new set of gamers.

Mario Power Tennis is a fun-filled game that's suitable for players of any age. Players wave the Wii Remote to execute forehand and backhand shots and direct the ball toward the left or right side of the court, creating topspin, slice spin and special move effects.

For the full updated Q1 2009 line-up for both the Nintendo DS and Wii, including exciting titles available from other publishers please see the tables below:

Will Pikmin 2 be rereleased in the same way as the first game? I can never find the GC version anywhere and I reeeaally wanna play it.

I thought The Conduit was scheduled for a Q1 release. Hrmph.

REALLY excited to see how Deadly Creatures turns out. The last lot of footage looked like way too much fun.

Normally I wouldn't care for the ports but if Mario Tennis nails the controls I might buy that :D

Needs more bold on House of The Dead, Mushroom Men, Tenchu, Little King's Story, Madworld, PES 2009
and less bold on Naruto.

Only in North America. Europe has it for "Spring 2009" (which also includes April and May, which would be Q2).

Timber, these are the GameCube games confirmed for the Play it on Wii program (these are confirmed for Japan):
Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat
Chibi-Robo!
Pikmin
Pikmin 2
Mario Power Tennis
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

Well Nintendo came damn close to nailing tennis controls with Wii Sports. So long as they transfer that over unscathed with the addition of movement controlled by the analog stick we should be looking at a pretty nice package. Still would have prefered a "new" game but this will have to do.

Rejoice!

Thanks man, exactly the answer I was hoping for :)

I really hope they re-work MT a bit. Not a patch on the N64. I mean what kind of tennis game doesn't have the ability to hit a baseline winner? Not a very good one, that's what.

The N64 absolutely nailed the mechanics and remains my favorite tennis game to this day, even taking out the power shots, the GC version was a huge disappointment. Often rallies would go on for minutes at a time, only ending when both players come in at the net.

I agree with just about everything you said. Funnily enough though, MPT, with its bias towards net play mechanics still made for some great multi player fun in doubles, though.

I do hope they rework things a bit. MT 64 was incredibly balanced, but the follow-up was all over the place.

Aaah, at first I thought releases was just a cheap cash-in but now I see its really just a save from Nintendo cuz they got zero to offer the first two quarters.

I will double dip those if the controls and the extras are good enough. I wish they add Mario Golf Toadstool tour to the Wii play list. As well as Zelda: Wind Waker and if they come overseas.

If the initial titles get good enough sales, I wouldn't be surprised if othe GameCube titles get the treatment (come on Paper Mario: TTYD).

If they end up re-releasing many of the 35 Nintendo games I have for the Gamecube I am going to end up with lots of duplicates. I know I do not have to buy them, but I'm weak :-(

Chrono Trigger was expected for february, wasn't it?

Yes, it's supposed to come out February 6 in PAL territories. Either Nintendo forgot to mention it or it's been delayed.

Releasing Pikmin one and two, bodes very well for Pikmin 3 coming end of the year, Kinda introducing people to it who missed the first 2 AWESOME games

That would be pretty pointless imo, I mean what benefits would TTYD take from NEW PLAY CONTROL!™? Even SPM has the simplest of control schemes saved from some pointer functionality which I don't expect or want them to integrate on TTYD.

I know I've been away from the gaming side too much when I didn't know they were re-releasing Various GC games on the Wii...

They also released a similar depressing list for these last months, just to fill it by surprise with Disaster, Wii Music, Animal Crossing and Trauma Center New Blood in the very last moment (we didn't get definitive dates until one month before for any of them) so I wouldn't be too worried.

After seeing suffering their 2008 Q4, I wouldn't be surprised if Fatal Frame (Project Zero) 4, Captain Rainbow or Another Code: R pop up at the very last minute. January may be already settled for empty but there's still time for February and March.

House of the Dead: Overkill and Deadly Creatures in February. Tenchu, Sonic, Madworld, and LKS all in march. Kororinpa 2, PES 2009, the two fighter collections. That isn't bad at all, but where are nintendo's games? NOE following in NOA footsteps? I know motion+ is coming in spring, but all they have until then is a few ports? This is pathetic.

I can't believe you completely overlooked MADWORLD.

I'm looking forward to Tennis as I never played it, and perhaps Pikimin, if they're cheap, so as to get a glimpse into Pikimin 3. Jungle Beat will easily be the highlight of this series, were the new levels ever confirmed?

well.. better than q4 2008 at least

Madworld and Little King for Wii could be good

still.. where is the 1st party stuff?!

Also Roogoo on Wii/Ds. Huh, the 360 demo was pretty fun when it got going. Although, if I couldn't pay 800 points back then, I'm hardly going to get a full priced version. :lol

And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad.
:D

I also noticed Naruto 2 for Wii was planned for December 5th here and got kicked back to Q12009 just three weeks ago. If it was really ready to ship, why didn't they just sent it to January so it could cover the hole before the Wii-makes? Think they really have something ready for Jan?

Not too impressive list :(

MADWORLD and Little King´s Story are only must buy titles for me. I will get Tenchu, HotD Overkill and new Sonic game if they get decent reviews.

yep mario tennis 64 was clearly one, if not the best tennis game i've played.....

So Naruto is basically the only new game published by Nintendo in Q1? Wasn't at least Beach Resort supposed to come out in March or is it a Q2 title?

I hate to say it but Pikmin 2 Wii and Little King Story may compete for the same market. The first one is a pretty good EAD piece of software, rare to be found here in Europe, the other one is a interesting 3rd party software nobody would like to bomb either.
