I think I'm going to start calling my boyfriend my "Adventure Pal".
But which character would be the tank? And would it be a defense/absorb type or agility/evade type?
yoshi is supposed to be a male dinosaur but he lays eggs
She's trans. She's also not the only trans character in the Mario series.
Kirby is whatever he feels like. Or eats:Doesn't surprise me. Though yeah, I tend to view Toadette as a girl.
What about Kirby and Yoshi? Are they gender neutral too?

Still the GOAT
Nintendo's response would probably be "Paper Mario? What is that? Never heard of it."So then how do they explain the clearly gendered toads in the Paper Mario series?

Ha, not to mention the "-ette" at the end of Toadette, typically associated with females"We never gave them genders, we just gave one a lower pitched voice and red and blue clothes, and the other one a higher pitched voice with pink clothes and pigtails. Just some gender characteristics, you know."
Well, there's ChuChu, a pink-octopus character who is Kirby's love interest in the Dream Land games. She's the closest to a female Kirby.
Kirby is whatever he feels like. Or eats:
People really are way too hung up on the gender question. "Is your baby a boy or a girl?" Don't answer and it drives people up the wall. The answer to the Toads gender is simple: It doesn't matter.

Yeah, they definitely edited Vivian, but with Birdo they just refer to her as female and that would be the politically correct thing to do with a trans-female anyway. It's not like they bring up her birth certificate every game.Birdo and Vivian are trans in Japan but it seems Nintendo has made every attempt for them to be strictly female everywhere else.
Birdo was pretty clearly trans in the SMB2 manual but since then Nintendo has been like "shit, controversial, sweep that under the rug and never mention it again." Possibly one reason why we never got Captain Rainbow.
Apparently Toad's can detach their mushroom heads and use them as parachutes too!
Maybe all Toads can grow facial hair, and shaving it is a matter of personal preference whether you want to look dignified/respectable or you want to maintain a clean, youthful or even feminine look. It's weird to think about Toadsworth not being male. But-but... mustache....
Not siblings and Japan means of course they're not romantically involved~He also clarified that Toad and Toadette are not romantically involved.
But I think what I can say is that Toadette and Toad are not siblings[...]
I'm glad someone posted thisAdventure pals with benefits?

Kirby is gender neutral, which makes a lot of things in the later series and the secondary marketing (anime, comics, etc) really interesting and progressive.
Of course Nintendo would prefer it if you just don't think about it too much.
That is indeed lovely. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
It's a ceremonial 'tache. As has been established, 'taches are worshipped in Toadstool culture, so only the very highest echelons of society are allowed them. It's why Toads adore Mario.
I never bothered to think of Toad in gender terms, but now that it's been brought up, they just adopt whatever gender characteristics they dig better, and everyone else just rolls along with it?
That's lovely, actually.
Once again, Paper Mario doesn't exist, heh.
No, sexual and asexual depending on genus...toadette is toad's budding "pal". She grew off his neck [or insert other body part here].Do fungi/mushrooms not have traditional genders in the real world?
Yeah...this dude can fuck off.
Toad's male and Toadette is female. Otherwise, they would all be called Toad.
Toad isn't a male, and Toadette isn't a female?

Is this some sick joke or are you about to blow my mind?Hello Kitty isn't a cat.

"Progressive." Give me a fucking break. They're gender-less because when they were created they were simple and abstract enough to not need one. No one cared. They haven't updated them since because the fact remains, it doesn't matter.
Quick, someone grill Atari on what gender the Pong paddles are.
Apparently it's Kinopiko. Is Toadette called Kinopio-chan in Japan? I forget.
it's interesting that this makes you angryYeah...this dude can fuck off.
