Nintendo sells well on Nintendo butt...

This should be a llama thread...

The Wii is selling well but its got no games full stop.

Then again, im gonna have to buy it soon. Stocks seem to be healthy right now, once the big guns come out in autumn, its going to be a nightmare getting one.

Don't sign your posts, it's obnoxious.

Third party titles above 100k:
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
Elebits
Need for Speed: Carbon
DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
Trauma Center: Second Opinion

Third party titles above 200k:
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
Call of Duty 3
Madden 07

Third party titles above 300k:
Red Steel
Rayman Raving Rabbids (aboce 400k)

The only titles for Wii that I can think of that are below 100k and aren't shovelware are Cooking Mama, which I don't have any numbers for and it might be above 100k, and SSX Blur. Pretty much everything else is a last-gen port up released a long time after the original release with little-no added content.

Which games in specific are you saying are not selling well enough?

Need for Speed: Carbon
Rayman Raving Rabbids (above? 400k)
Madden 07
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07

I think these are the only games that can be found on all systems. If I am missing something let me know. I didn't count exclusive 3rd party titles because they are exclusive but that is a good indicator. Based on the above 3rd party titles I mentioned do you think their sales are high enough to justify the Wii being the base platform for development? I am just trying to get an idea of how likely the Wii will be the leading software development platform for this generation. Uh cat or something like that.

Is it possible for Nintendo to control the industry if they only move large quantites of their own software on their own platform?

obviously the answer is yes.

why does this need a thread, please ask yourself this next time

Looks like Nintendo did quite well in the hardware and software department last month. But I still don't see any 3rd party Nintendo games on the charts. I don't think 3rd parties get anything if Nintendo sells Nintendo software so what do 3rd parties need to do to take advantge of their installed base? Is it possible for Nintendo to control the industry if they only move large quantites of their own software on their own platform?

Yes, Its Nintendos fault. its absolutely outrageous that their games sell so well and this type of s**t is killing the industry. They should either

1) Reduce the quality of their games

or

2) Stop making games

or

3) Go 3rd party only! That would really shake things up.

The Wii has as many, if not more quality games available for it at present than the PS3. The 360 is the only console with the advantage in terms of software at the moment..

All we need now is a "I will quit gaming if waggle/nintendomiation is the future /crybaby" thread and the circle of life is complete.

I'll let myself out now.

I'd challenge that.

Apart from maybe TP and excite truck, its got nothing worth a long term purchase.

Probably the worst Nintendo launch in terms of games...but best in terms of sales and reception which is strange.

.

Of course...

Because Eledees is crap
Trauma Center is crap
Mario Strikers Charged is crap
Super Paper Mario is crap
Wii Sports is crap (irrespective of the fact that it has the most replay value of any title released this past year)

I suppose PSN > VC too? :lol

Some of these are just a few of the games I have been clocking some serious hours with in the past month.

Please remind me, other that Motorstorm (overrated) and Resistance, what does the PS3 have to offer right now thats worth a $600 purchase? And yes even the HOME beta gets tired after 20 mins in that barren lobby.

A critism of the Wii doesnt equal a praise for the PS3. Both are lacklustre.

Sooner people pull Nintendo up on it, the better. Strikers is just a jumped up GC port as is paper mario.

I want Wii games please. Convince me to buy it.... and dont say Wii sports.

First of all he DID praise the PS3 lineup by challenging my original comment that the PS3 lineup was just as bad if not worse than the Wiis.
Secondly, Mario Strikers is not a jumped up GC port.. there are clear differences between the old GC version and the new Wii version, and im not even referring to online play..

For the sake of arguement, do you see many 3rd party sony and ms games on the charts, either? If the game is not as good, it won't sell, as simple as that. It's not like nintendo is prohibiting 3rd parties from making games for it.

Nintendo has truly grown the videogame biz and there are a lot of new Wii owners. But that doesn't mean the traditional biz is gone in the least. Madden, Halo 3, GTA, Gears of War, Clancy games will all continue to be big games . . . (with only a small amount of sales on the Wii.).

Fears of Nintendo totally dominating the biz with bouncy plumbers, mushroom people, and cute fuzzy characters are unfounded.

Having said that, MSFT & Sony need to cut their prices in order to not give the entire casual market away to Nintendo.

To me it's an updated Mario Strikers Gamecube version with added multiplayer. There's really nothing substantial that makes it a worthwhile sequel.

To me, [Insert your typical PS3 game here] is a graphically updated PS2 version with added HD. There's really nothing substantial that makes it a worthwhile sequel.

I don't quite understand this post, but I wasn't even mentioning the PS3. I only wrote how I felt about the Mario Strikers: Charged game. I do hope that you played it already.

EDIT: I reread it with your edit but this still doesn't change your core statement. I'm not comparing the Wii to anything myself.

EDIT 2: Alright, then you probably haven't played Super Paper Mario, since you mentioned this beforehand. But I'm not trying to get into a personal argument with you. I certainly hope that SPM will be a good game when it comes over here.

You caught me mid editing. Read again.

And yes, I have 'played it already', check the online matchup thread for my friend code.

I think "Nintendo butt" was coined by news reporters in the early 1990s to describe individuals who played long hours of NES/SNES without taking breaks. It's kinda' like tennis elbow.

The OP was obviously just bringing the old school, am i rite?
