Nintendo still not planning to port console content to mobile

They're great, best versions available.

Got good reviews too:

Christian Whitehead's ports are amazing, but experience has proven that games not designed for mobile will never be as good as the original version. The Sonic games are bearable at best on mobile, no matter what reviews say. They're fine if you have a controller, but you shouldn't have to use unusual input methods to properly experience a game.

And that's exactly where Nintendo is coming from. We may see Mario, we may see Advance Wars, we may see Rhythm Tengoku -- but we won't see the existing games. We'll see versions designed specifically for smartphones and tablets.

Animal Crossing seems like it would be a cash bonanza on mobile.

Something like Happy Home Designer that read the NFC cards ... would print money.

Yeah right,

More like we wont port console content to mobile....until people forget we said that and we're looking to make more money.

Porting games doesn't work, you really have to design games up that work with the monetary system that works on mobile.

I don't think of a touchscreen as an "unusual input", i'm sure the millions of kids growing up on iPhones and iPads won't either.
I wouldn't want to play Sonic on a keyboard, i'd be shit at it, doesn't mean someone else might enjoy it.

GTA San Andreas has been raking in the cash since it was released on iOS 2 years ago, so many people disagree.

Except Nintendo said outright that the mobile plan isn't necessarily to make a lot of money. They have categorically said that there are only 5 titles planned and they won't be exploitative. The idea is to bring people to the actual gaming devices.

Even if they do decide they want to make more money, that doesn't mean they'd port titles over.

Oh, the IP certainly and I have no doubt that AC IP will be used in the mobile games. The actual Animal Crossing game? You need to realize that these games are to expand IP awareness. Not transplant handheld and console gaming onto mobile devices. Think of it as Fallout Shelter. A good mobile game designed for mobile game that increases awareness of the IP but doesn't replace it.

DeNA stating that they want to make $25 million a month with nintendo's mobile games pretty much goes against these games just being made for awareness purposes. These games are supposed to be their own productive pillar. Bringing awareness to their traditional wares will just be a side benefit.

I meant using a controller accessory is unusual. The games aren't great on a touchscreen, let alone best versions.

Kind of a shame the other Christian Whitehead ports aren't on console and Steam. They are pretty much definitive.

Ah, but you see, they may say that now, and have said it before, and will likely say it a few more times in the future, but does that truly mean that we should believe them?

This is Nintendo we're talking about. When have they ever made a game specifically for the hardware it runs on? That sounds nothing like how they've been approaching game development for the past ten-plus years.

Then those games will be unique to mobile devices. Also, Fallout Shelter shows that you can make a game to raise awareness AND still make a killing in profit.

I just don't understand why people think making mobile games is the exact same as making console games. There's a different audience and learning that audience is key to making a successful mobile game.

...The Wii, the Wii U, the entire DS line...when HAVEN'T they not made content for their hardware?
