Control
Welp I tried the demo of all games, Control works the best, even the RT mode. I played it on 60fps mode.Does it really work as intended? Love Control and would like to see a native version on Switch 2.
You must have good wifiWelp I bought that game day one on Switch 1, and played it until the end, a very fun game
You have an ocean of Switch titles to dig into, and boost mode to play them with. Get ready to swole your backlog.Recent bought myself a Switch 2.
I skipped the Switch 1 - and know nothing about any game on it.
I actually have been out of the Nintendo fold entirely since 2006 - outside of messing about with a hacked Wii in 2020 or so - mainy to play Sin and Punishment 2.
I grew up a Nintendo kid - NES thru N64.
Gamecube is where Nintendo started to lose me, as all the 1st party GC games outside of F-Zero, were better on the N64.
Then the Wii waggle stuff just wasnt for me.
I skipped the WiiU and skipped the Switch 1 because handheld gaming has zero appeal to me.
For years, I waited for a console-only Switch version - or a Switch Pro version. Obviously those never happened.
During the past 10 years or so - ive moved heavily to retro gaming and during this time rekindled my sheer astonishment of Nintendo's 1st party offerings. They simply make the best games in the medium.
Obviously ive been missing out on all the new Nintendo stuff since the Gamecube. Combine this with my love of shmups and JRPGs. Even with most of my modern gaming on Steam and Xbox - theres no substitute for Nintendo, and the Switch still has a bunch of shmups still not ported to those platforms.
It was finally time to return back home.
So yeah - ive got of mountain of things to check out - but im sticking with Nintendo 1st party stuff and things not on Xbox or Steam.
DK Bananza is simply incredible - Zelda BOTW (which I knew nothing about) truly masterworks.
M2 ShotTriggers line - right up my alley.
M2's Sega Ages - especially the OutRun port? Didnt know what I was missing.
Looking forward to the Xenoblades - Marios, Dread, Pokemons.
Lots and lots of catching up to do.
To say im on gaming cloud nine is an understatement.
Its good to be back.
There is so much good stuff on the original Switch as the user above said, you got a lot to go through! And yes Bananza is awesome!Recent bought myself a Switch 2.

Very overwhelming for sure. There is so much good stuff on the original Switch as the user above said, you got a lot to go through! And yes Bananza is awesome!
Just get a grip like many of us already have. My grip of choice is Satisfye Zen Grip. It's a little pricey but its worth it imo.
Have to disagree about the screen quality though. Games like MKW and Metroid Prime 4 look absolutely gorgeous with their use of HDR
I saw performance fluctuating between 45 and 60 thoughNintendo Life review of Pragmata. Looks to be a banger on Switch 2. Excellent performance as well.

Verdict
9/10
Yea, I'm waiting either for a physical edition or a decent sale/performance updates before jumping on this one. Thanks for the impressions and heads upPlaying South of midnight right now. Chapter 6. Probably should've waited for a deep sale. Outside of its stellar audiovisual presentation, the game is pretty mediocre. Feels like a PS360 game in level design and execution. Very linear exploration with some slight branching paths for picking up some loot so you can power up your attacks. Combat is the same 3-4 enemies in a closed area. Defeat, cleanse area, rinse and repeat. Performance is very bad. Drops in the low 20s in certain spots. The weird stop motion animations doesn't help either and makes it look like a slide show at times. A game like this has no business running this poorly when you have RE Requiem looking so much more next gen at 60fps, while being way more ambitious in scope. Makes Compulsion look like amateurs. They need to patch this up, preferably with a 40fps option.
About two weeks ago we got an update with RE9 on Switch 2 that fixed a lot of performance issues. I wouldn't be surprised if this update came a long because of development on PragmataI saw performance fluctuating between 45 and 60 though
Someone on Reddit has compiled every single leak for Nintendo Switch 2. Everything from ratings to rumors to leaks. Nintendo needs to put out a Direct ASAP, general or partner, because it's getting kinda crowded now.
One of the YouTubers (I think it was Andres Restart) postulated they're waiting until after Rhythm Heaven launches. He said (and I agree) that it will likely be Nintendo's last first party title for the old Switch. That way, the next Nintendo Direct will be all Switch 2.It's been over 7 months since Nintendo did a Direct. Seven months. And I'm not talking about those Partner shits or the ones just made to advertise the Mario movie, that obviously doesn't count.
We're at a point where I really hope Nate is completely fucking wrong.
Honestly, what the hell is the difference between doing a Direct at the end of April or in June at this point? It's time for Nintendo to wake the fuck up.

I'm sure Nintendo knows.Okay, when does Rhythm Heaven release?

As we're getting closer to the 10-year anniversary of the Switch 1's release, it's crazy how much awesome content there is on the Switch 2 now if you've not played any Switch 1 games.Nice to see some people jumping in that weren't even Switch 1 owners, welcome to the party.

But if you listen to certain users here, there's a game drought on Switch 2 that's possibly even worse than what we saw on the Nintendo 64'Nintendo Today' updates have replaced a lot of what they would typically show in a Direct, I think that's why we're seeing bigger gaps. For example since the last major September direct we've had:
Animal Crossing 3.0 Update Announced & Released
Pokemon Pokopia additional trailers
Mario Tennis Fever additional trailers
New Gamecube games on NSO (Fire Emblem, Pokemon XD)
DKC Returns Update
Super Mario Bros. Wonder Switch 2 version release date and new trailer
Virtual Boy updates and release
Tomodachi Life new trailer and release date
Rhythm Heaven new trailer and release date
Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition announced / released
Pokemon FireRed / LeafGreen announced / released
Pokemon Winds and Waves announced
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book new trailer & release date
I mean yeah, no real megatons in there but more than enough to fill in a decent direct back in January. I just think they've changed their approach to have general directs reserved to mostly announce new things, then they fill in the news cycle with updates on those things via Nintendo Today as time goes on instead of doing those smaller in-between directs.

I really like the joycon grips on the Dbrand case, so much so that I got an extra set for my spares. They make the joycon so much more comfy, whether attached or no, and so much more grippable that I don't like using them without. Not as big as the mobapad, but they work as me.I finally bit the bullet and bought a switch 2 with the new deal. I ordered 8bitdo ultimate 2. One thing is the joy cons are so small in handheld mode. I've been eyeing the mobapad m12 but is there anything else that will work as good that I can leave on while docked? Still haven't got a case yet either because the sizes of the mobapad and even the Hyperion 3.
Picked up Kirby Air Riders at Costco for $30 which is honestly about the right price for this game. Feels like Mario Kart mixed with Smash Bros menus and short burst play sessions.
Did the tutorials and tried each of the race modes. The single player road trip thing is definitely my favorite.
Game is okay but honestly glad I didn't pay full price.
Does that really matter as long as it feels smooth? I played games on ds, 3ds, psp, and vita and they weren't 60fps. I played quake 3 in 1999 on a voodoo3 at 25 to 27 fps and it was still a blast. Same with cryisis when it came out in 2007. Game hitched down to 21fps even on a 8800gtx at the time. Still amazing. 45 to 60 on a handheld is not bad at all. Wish more games had 45fps options like steam deck allows as it's a fine in between.I saw performance fluctuating between 45 and 60 though
