I've never played this developer's past games, but this looks like a distinctly not shitty Metroid. It looks like it plays smoothly (although I'm curious whether aiming relies on the right stick), the graphics are pretty nice for a 3DS game, and the level design looks very Metroidy.

Castlevabia MOF was a bad game but there is no reason to believe a developer can't improve from one project to the next. Plus, they are working from the template of the original.
