Nintendo Treehouse Amiibo Shopping Network Live Discussion Thread [over]

It is weird they didn't say yet "Animal Crossing is coming for Switch" (no images or concrete details but just "it is coming"). It is one of their biggest IP (probably their biggest IP in Japan based on New Leaf sales there)

Since we didn't get it in the Spotlight, I fully expect any announcement is being held back until the launch of AC mobile, just like what happened with Fire Emblem earlier this year.

these dumb splatoon team promos are really fun. could be a bit tighter though. Don't really like the dubbing over the foreign languages though, should've just left it at subs

guys where are the rest of the team promos in the splat 2 tournie? EU had one before the round robin and JPN had before their first tournie match but I'm trying to scrub for the AU and US ones and can't find them

/edit oh okay US is before their first semifinal match

Again, I'd like a link to where Reggie stated there will be other reveals in the next two days of Treehouse :P

Where does the Blizzar rumor come from? Lots of people talking about it here.

NimbusCub in the EZA thread had a source claiming a HAL game (Kirby) and a 2d & 3d Metroid would be revealed at Spotlight. They also claimed that Blizzard would be revealing a game "with a lot of butts"

I wonder if we'll see that rumoured Blizzard Switch game tomorrow

That's the one game that's missing from yesterday's leak. Assuming it wasn't a reference to something else.

If there is a blizzard game, it's probably hearthstone. I would prefer Diablo though :(

The main argument against Blizzard isn't that it's big. It's that (a) a Blizzard game, if it exists, is almost certainly Hearthstone; (b) Treehouse is for live demos or thorough previews like what we saw of Superstar Saga today; (c) there is absolutely no point in wasting valuable Nintendo stage time on a well-known game that will be functionally identical to how it already plays on mobile.

If we see Hearthstone show up, it will be as a clip in a quick third-party sizzle reel, which may still be on the table when you consider that we haven't heard a single thing about forthcoming indies yet, not even previously announced titles by developers with an established history of showing up on Treehouse Live (i.e. SteamWorld Dig 2). We might see something along those lines by Thursday, I would guess.

Here

He doesn't say reveal, but content and it seems to be about the 3ds.

I thought this was assumed now to be referring to Snowdrop engine and Rabbids.

Are we really expecting a Switch surprise tomorrow?

Anything's possible, but I personally don't expect any more Switch announcements beyond those that were in the Spotlight. I would be glad to be wrong, though.

I just want a Virtual Console announcement today. I'd have dropped like $100 more in the eshop already if it were implemented.

Oh, I'd missed that, sorry. Do you have a link? I believe you, I'm just curious to read it.

Hal Jordan - Kirby
Blizzard - Self Explanatory
:)

And yes, I was referring to Metroid

For the most part, although Blizz hasn't revealed itself yet. Who knows, E3 is still young and not all the games that were on that list were going to be playable.

No idea when. All I know is I was told there's lots of butts involved.

From the Easy Allies E3 thread :)

Let's pretend Overwatch is being developed for the Switch, maybe it won't be revealed until they properly show off the online. I think if they have a direct focused on the online system a few months down the road and then they drop OW it would make more sense.

That being said it still seems like a major long shot.

Showing Rocket League and not Overwatch if you have both ready to go would be baffling to me

I really don't expect an Animal Crossing announcement to happen around a mobile release. Think people have misunderstood that strategy or Nintendo's intention. Yes, the goal for the mobile games is to raise the awareness of the console games, but that doesn't mean that a console release or announcement has to happened in parallel with the mobile releases. The games are going nowhere. So Animal Crossing could release in 2019, the mobile game next year, and they could simply advertise and update their mobile game to accommodate the console release in 2019.

maybe the snow means tropical freeze N3DS port ;)

Samus returns Nintendo trailer has 1.1m views.
Prime 4 has 1m views.

that slightly surprising

I would love to hear anything about Switch VC. I have the feeling we aren't going to get it til the paid service is out though.

I could see Animal Crossing being the Holiday 2018 game. In that case they don't really need to announce the game now at E3 or anything.

I'm assuming Kirby and Yoshi are out in the first half of 2018, with Kirby being first because it looked a good deal further ahead in development. Metroid Prime 4 might not even be 2018, but if it is Nintendo just threw the teaser in to try and curb the tantrums from Samus Returns being 3DS.

Yeah no Animal Crossing makes me angry and it doesn't make any sense imo.

As a HUGE Animal Crossing fan: It makes sense. Switch is selling well with core gamers now. It continues to sell well and the games releasing later this year are targeted toward them. Next year, Nintendo will probably try to draw in more of the casual crowd with games like Anomal Crossing, which is a proven system-seller.

So 30 mins of treehouse talking about Pokken, then tournaments all day? Any chance of new trailers or reveals during the tournaments? Did they do that for Splatoon yesterday, it got late so I went to sleep.

I agree, and think it makes more sense for the mobile game to raise awareness and lead up to the Switch game, like what Mario Run may be doing. And I doubt this is going to be an intentional thing for EVERY mobile game announced.

I think they said last night after they finished with Mario and before they switched to the splatoon 2 tourney, that they will start today off with a demo for pokken DX, then do the tourney, then show off Yoshi after the tourney. I may have misheard that but I could have sworn they said that.

Not surprising at all. Prime 4 is just a logo. People who saw it on the spotlight won't bother to click on that and no one else will watch it more than once.

They didn't have any news during the tournament yesterday.

I'm not sure if this has been talked about at all, but do we have any remote clue on what Retro he been working on? If not Metroid Prime 4, what have they been doing for the last 3.5 years?

A day of fighting tournaments seems like a great place to announce a new Smash Bros title.....

I don't think so man :(

They want you to come out of watching these hyped to buy Arms this week and Pokken soon; not hyped bout Smash instead and passing on both.
