Nintendo Treehouse Amiibo Shopping Network Live Discussion Thread [over]

Treehouse was great even if there weren't many big surprises on day 3, it's such a nice insight into E3 for those of us at home, which really is most of us. Nintendo has kind of dominated my attention because of it, I should probably check out what everyone else announced now...

P.S. WHERE ARE MY INDIES NINTENDO

The last day was really, really disappointing.

Why didn't they show some indies? Or soon to be released 3rd parties?

The first two days were great though.

Yup.

E3 used to just be the conferences for me, but Treehouse has changed that the last few years.

Same for me. I always watch all the conferences, all of them interest me. But once the show actually starts I basically only watch Treehouse. They usually have the most fun and most insightful demos, have likeable personalities, and it's overall just a very relaxed stream.

I'll watch some of the other stuff afterwards, but Treehouse Live is what I want to see, well, live.

Seeing as how we get at least a two-to-three-month lead time at the shortest for surprise retail announcements, if the Kirby anniversary game is still on target for the holiday (and if it's not yet another small-scale direct-to-eShop affair), I'm pretty confident they are saving material for a September/October Direct. They'll need one anyway to lock down dates for FE Warriors, Xenoblade, Skyrim, and Zelda DLC 2.

Not seeing any mention at all of Hey! Pikmin when its neighbours Ever Oasis and Miitopia received their own sessions is a worrying sign. Even if it turns out well, it's going to be buried in the schedule by Splatoon and I don't see myself picking it up until much further down the road, if I ever find the time to catch up on more of the 3DS library. A shame, as I was one of the most optimistic about the prospect of a Pikmin platformer when it was first teased.

Guys why exactly is NoA embarrassed of Mother 3

Because 23 years ago EarthBound didn't do so well, and why would the market change in a generation?
/s

NOA had an official in-house localization of Mother, which, combined with Wii U needing content desperately at the time, and Nintendo neeing to throw a bone at their hardcore fans, is probably why EarthBound Beginnings was released, but unless they're willing to compensate those who fan translated Mother 3, they're going to have to get a localization done, and I don't think they're willing to take the risk on a decade old GBA game that would need to be ported to either 3DS or Switch. I'd say if Nintendo Japan ever decides to re-release Mother 3, then I could see it happening. I wanna believe. I hope for it ever E3, every Direct.

It's been great having Treehouse to look forward to the last three evenings, and it's such a nice expansion of my E3 programme.

Looking forward to next year already!

I checked in a bunch of times looking for indie stuff or 2k18 footage and all I ever saw was Mario/Arms/Splatoon.

I shouldn't have bothered.

maybe retro is secretly working on mother 4. a full fledged 3D rpg

It was fun while it lasted, and I was happy to follow Treehouse live again, while chatting here at the same time. Hope they return next year with more promising games.

Until then, happy gaming.

What's crazy to me about Mother 3 is that Reggie made a joke about it at E3 2014... At the time it was cute because it kinda implied that we would get it sooner than later and that they were listening to us, but 3 years later there's still nothing. Now that joke feels a bit cruel.

Nintendo wins e3 alone with Xenoblade 2, Metroid prime 4, and also pokemon switch. Even if the last two dont have footage, at least I can say they are major titles that will be worth the wait. Xeno 2 might be 2017 but if it gets delayed it will still be worth the wait. The game is obviously unpolished now but still looks amazing to me. I can't wait to experience the next entry in my favourite series!

I was disappointed with Treehouse this year.

They rehashed the same games and showing the same things quite a bit. I mean, I'm looking forward to Splatoon 2 but did we need THAT MUCH Splatoon?

I also thought all of the presenters were unprepared. Almost every segment, they would open it up kinda strangely, always forget to introduce themselves or others sitting next to them, and then unexpectedly have someone "take it away" and then have that individual be like, "Ooook... so...."

I get the benefit of having authenticity. And yeah, Treehouse has a bit of charm other streaming "lounges" don't have during E3. But I really feel like this year they were just unprepared.

I'm guessing because of the transgender (?) Mermen you kiss for oxygen. Also isnt a lot of the music based off real songs? Maybe afraid of lawsuits.
Now I'm pretty sure the music issues you're thinking of Earthbound. Japan is a bit different with how samples are used. Not sure if it is ignorance or not but Earthbound had samples from all over the place including Monty Python. Some people also blame Yo-yos or the Beetles.

Thing is we've seen Japanese composes get away with outright plagarism before though time usually catches up. For example the MGS main theme was a Russian Classical piece, the DBZ composer for ages took obscure metal songs until DBZ Kai where they decided to rip tracks from more mainstream sources including Avatar and Terminator Salvation.
Maybe I shouldn't bring up Robo's theme from Chrono Trigger
never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down...

How much of the music?
All I can think of is Mr. Batty Twist sounding like an imitation of the 60s Batman theme. I'm sure Mother fans might have actually found some though.

Wait actually this popped up in related videos:

Hey Pikmin surprisingly missing in action considering it's coming out the say day as Miitopia and the New 2DS XL. Also surprised to see Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon not shown.

People made the same arguments back in the day before Earthbound was released on VC. Then Nintendo simply announced it without any changes.

So is there any rundown on what Treehouse focused on Day 2 and 3? OP was on top of their game day one but what about Wednesday and Thursday?

Do you have a poll that says that she's bigger than Xander or Ryoma?

I know someone already replied to this, but I didn't see the poll actually linked after a quick skim, so here you go:

Top 20 men and women, overall results

This is an official poll conducted before the release of Fire Emblem Heroes, Tharja placed 4th over all while Xander placed 42nd and Ryoma placed 43rd. They did pretty good over all, but Tharja has them beat pretty soundly in votes, with Tharja having roughly 30,000 votes while Xander and Ryoma got ~7500/7000 votes each. Both Leo and Takumi beat out Xander and Ryoma as well.

Sorry if a missed that the poll was linked already.
