Nintendo UK confirms Q2 releases

The stupid thing is, if they just added in Super Paper Mario and Truma Center like they should, that would be a pretty good lineup.

Hmm.. There's a few there that I'm interested in, but not definate buys. The only one I will be picking up for sure though, is Impossible Mission DS.

What happened with Trauma Center anyway? I recall seing that as a mayrelease or something. I just can not understand(still) why it got to take such a long time to get finished games to europe. Do they hate money or something...

Heetseeker date is wrong, was released last Friday.

Other than that, where the hell is the second coming? (SPM) wtf NOE? What the ****ing ****ing **** **** ****, the Uk wants some SPM love too you know?

Bastards.

N.B: Slightly strong I know, but there is no reason why at least the UK couldn't get SPM within at least a month of the US release, not like there is much translation to do :'(

Uh, yes there is. IIRC, Euro releases are supposed to be translated into all major European languages? As the UK is part of Europe (much as it sometimes pretends not to be...) we have to wait for games to be fully translated into multiple languages prior to release - it's not just a case of tweaking American English.

Well, Mario Strikers will be great, though.

And...Paper Mario in October, Mario Galaxy in November, and SSBB and MP3 both on December 12th.

Positive thinking FTW

Played Mario Strikers at a press event last year, and unless it has been completely transformed, im not going to touch this crap title.

Extremely concerned with the absence of Super Paper Mario and Trauma Center. What the hell are Nintendo Europe doing? Its that division thats going to have to endure the most fieriest battle against the PS3 - they need to unleash the big guns, and now!

Im am seriously considering buying some sort of wii freeloader or something and importing from the States. Is there anything available right now?

Elevator Action is a classic arcade game from Taito. I guess it's a low-budget remake. :(

A remake of Elevator Action Returns would have been awesome though !

I'm sure it has its ups and downs.

I'll get my coat...

Jesus...

As for Mario Strikers - as the game is built on the already-great GC installment, I don't see how it could be a "crap title" (unless of course you just don't like the 'Cube version). Bumped-up graphically, online play, new gameplay elements and (hopefully) more content... should be a bit of a corker, really.

FFS we speak English in England. At least give us SPM Nintendo, you bastards.

It's time for the EU to pass a law making English the 1st language for all european countries so we dont have to wait ridiculous amounts of time for translations

Or failing that a Nintendo of UK, not a Nintendo of "Europe", based in Germany.

God that list is depressing. Kinda glad we got Excite Truck late now, because that's all I'll be playing for the next six months.

So long as they remove that stupid power bar for power shots, it could be good. As it was, once you got that down it was a battle to see who could get the ball to their captain first.

Dave Mirra Racing Wii (505 Games)

No, 505! Noooo! And they were going so well with game releases..

I must know more of Elevator Action though. Awesome 2D remake ala Impossible Mission, or some 3D garbage factory that has nothing to do with the old Elevator Action games at all? Maybe it'll be a Tetris clone with Super Soakers.

Also lol at NOE still not giving a shit about first party games. Can't wait to play Super Paper Mario in 2009.

you guys are only just getting metroid prime pinball?

jesus. now i remember why i'm so happy i moved to america from the UK.

Final Gamecube Year> First Wii Year

That says it all. Launch years are supposed to be full of awesomeness :( By this time into the N64 we'd had Pilotwings, Mario 64, Waverace, Mario Kart... what does the Wii have other than Zelda that comes close to that pedigree?

Zelda: Twilight Princess
Super Paper Mario
Excite Truck
WarioWare: Smooth Moves

+

Wii Sports

The first four I consider to be must-haves, and all have appeared within the first 6 months of the console's lifespan, just as with your N64 examples. TP isn't quite the game SM64 was, but it's a gem, and Excite Truck is easily the equal of Wave Race or MK64, even if it doesn't have the same "wow" factor that WR did. both Super Paper Mario and WarioWare are highly polished, entertaining games (going off reviews of SPM on that one, though).

Wii Sports, while not equal to the N64 titles in some ways, is still a satisfying, fun title and I'd be tempted to sling it in with the others.

What's also worth noting is that, after MK64, the first year of the N64 only saw Star Fox 64 and GoldenEye with a fairly lengthy drought following them. If the schedule holds, we should see both Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy in the Wii first year, with other second-tier titles like Strikers, Big Brain Academy, Pokemon BR, Mario Party 8 and Battalion Wars II sliding in there as well.

YMMV, but I think that - from a first-party standpoint - the Wii is having a pretty good first year, and with some solid third-party games already and more due, it's doing a lot better than the N64 or the 'Cube.

Yeah, the negativity here is pretty amazing. That list isn't bad at all, especially not for a Nintendo machine in its first year.

If you bought a games machine before you actually wanted many games for it, it's not the collective fault of The World's games developers. It's the fault of you for buying something you didn't want.

Warioware was too short with disappointing boss fights. I prefer Rayman in a lot of ways, but that had poor multiplayer options. As for Paper Mario, did you forget which region we're talking about? No release date yet. Sports is great though, so you can have that one. I might sound negative, but I'm a Wii convert and I want more good waggle and I want it now! Thank god for Puzzle Quest I guess.

Agreed, Heatseeker is a pretty good take on the arcade flight game genre. I've been playing it a bit those days, and while ground graphics are ugly, in the air it's not too bad (plane modelisation is decent, clouds and explosions look good). Controls are simply excellent, with lots of customisation (I play holding the nunchuk as a flight stick in my right hand and the Wiimote in the left hand for missiles/wingmen orders/target acquisition).
Where is that option? I only have the option to switch between Arcade/Professional and inverting on/off.

Imagine how many Wiis would sell if it had anything worth playing coming out!

I`ll wait till christmas for my wii I think. We might actually have all the launch games from other territories out by then.

Lets check the software sales rate a few months from and see. Right now I think casuals are buying on hype/curiousity.

Heh, the GBA list is somewhat more exciting than the Wii list. :lol

Surprised to see NOE's been picking up lots of 3rd party games though (Kororinpa, Wing Island, Pangya, Harvest Moon, etc). What's keeping NOA from giving us some choice imports?

IIRC, you have to dive into the options submenu at the title screen. You should have the choice between using the Wiimote, nunchuk or analogue stick to control the plane movements. Wiimote isn't too bad, but it's very, very sensitive - nunchuk may be the best option, but I need to put in more time before coming down one way or the other.

Games that are most likely mediocre at best:

Cooking Mama Wii (505 Games) April 2007
Metal Slug Anthology (Ignition) Q2 2007
Spider-Man The Movie 3 (Activision) May 2007
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (Midway) May 2007

Fie upon thee, slanderer! Doubt not the awesomeness of Metal Slug!

If nintendo think they can sway me with the titles that i want, when MGS4 comes out, they can fist themselves.

I want the games now.

you're kidding, right? This is a rerun of the N64, and the gamecube. Couple of great launch titles, play through them, then NOTHING for almost a year.

The Wii line up is looking rather anorexic. Every non-bolded title is shovelware, and I'm not sure about some of the bolded ones: Mortal Kombat? Really?

The DS looks a little better, I can see a few titles I need to buy on arrival.

No Diamond & Pearl, no Elite Beat Agents, a year late Metroid Prime Pinball, no Super Paper Mario, and no Mario Party 8 make this a shitty list. Datel better hurry up with the Wii-freeloader.

Uh, this is far different from N64... which had a whopping six releases during Q1/Q2 1997 iirc (Mario Kart, Star Fox, Blast Corps, Turok, Gretzky 3D... and something else?).

This more like a repeat of PS2's Q1/Q2 2001... one shining Japanese AAA treasure surrounded by a sea of (mainly) western shovelware. And just like PS2, it's going to heat up in Q3/Q4...

According to a story on Gamefront.de today, wholesale data states that Mario Party 8 is due on June 29th in Europe (although it has not been confirmed by Nintendo).

I think people need to stop thinking of Zelda: as a launch game, and instead think of it as a swan song, in every sense of the phrase. It that sense, its an awesome game, and hasn't been done any better. In my opinion it is in my list of greatest games ever made.

I'd be surprised if it actually makes it out. It's been on these lists before, just like Wario Ware Twisted.

Ah found it, damn manual made no mention of it. Thx a bunch.

Damn, I might have to look into modding my Wii or hope for Datel to finish the Wii freeloader.

Probably exactly the same amount (everything shipped) which I assume is the reason they're holding in the releases. =/

Gamecube had a better line-up :(
