Wow even ND is being PC. Sad ND just Sad.
They've matured a lot in these last three months.
Bluepoint should just take control of U4 tbh smhAnd yet a couple of months ago Uncharted Collection was released with fat Drake-focused Trophies.
The internet would attack them, I imagine.
Neil Druckmann, remember: Simply don't say anything at all about 'irrelevant stuff' like skins, your thoughts, personal opinions, etc.
Remember in the future. Just to 'save pains'.

What is sad? The fact they didn't want to upset anyone? Sounds like they are being thoughtful tbh.

So going by the quote in the opening post, it seems like the reason he cited pretty much amounts to "we don't want to offend anyone."
This is where we're at now. Something like Donut Drake is now deemed too politically incorrect to feature in a Naughty Dog game. Good grief.
This mentality is just fucked up. They say they don't want to make anyone feel bad about themselves and that makes them sad?
This push against people actually treating others nicely and not being an uncaring asshole is annoying as fuck. Being an asshoile and insulting isn't something that should be praised and outside of the internet it isn't.
They did not work on that dont know why its keep being brought up.And yet a couple of months ago Uncharted Collection was released with fat Drake-focused Trophies.
Yes, seems like it.He was likely asked specifically.

You know, I kind of agree with Druckman.
I mean, it's one thing to have an obese character. But it's another thing to have an existing, established character turned fat for no in-story reason, but jokes. I'm sure it's innocent enough, but could come off as immature mocking of a body type.
Then again, we went through that NBA Jam big head mode era. I don't think anyone thought they were making fun of big-headed people. I guess that's just the world we live in now for better or worse. But I see no harm in ND not wanting any part of that anymore. Good on them for at least thinking of others.
This is a good a place as any to say that I appreciate the protagonist of Firewatch being a big chubby burly bear of a man, grabbing pinecombs and turtles with his meat hands, and it gels perfectly with the physique of my local hiking group.
This removal is such a shame because there are countless ways to include a beefier Drake without it coming across as mean-spirited. It's disappointing that the path of least resistance is to just homogenize it down and keep everything involving Drake as bland and boring as possible.
No one is an asshole or insulting anyone? WTF?
It's a fat character model. The world is a fucking boring place if we try to make sure no one is ever "upset"
If you're upset over a fat character model in a game, you're the one with issues.
Why all the stupid taunts in MP then? How is that better than a Fat suit?No loss
The kind of people that would actually get a chuckle out of seeing a fat drake run around are the same the probably loved Duke nukem forever when it came out. Poop jokes.
It's 2016 and I think the medium has moved past big heads/limbs mode.
It doesn't have to be all serious at all, I expect a lot of one liners and jokes from Drake and sully. But time to elevate your game, stop going for low hanging fruit.
Just my 2 cents
They're exercising their own creative freedoms by not including it because it makes they themselves feel uncomfortable. lolAssuming you do want to have intellectual discourse rather than just driveby "lol @ people outraged over outrage" sort of posting, and assuming that the reason this Donut Drake was cancelled is due to fear of "FAAAAT HAAAAAATE" backlash, the sad thing is that studios are driven to self-censorship even on good-natured humor by the very fear of backlash. People are arguing that there should be a line between considering feelings and creative freedom rather than going "oh some people might find this offensive so let's take this out" at every single thing.
Can we at least get muscley, big boned Drake? I want to play as a jacked up RE5-styled Drake.
Well in this case it does seem to be Naughty Dog's decision, I mean there has never been outrage caused by Donut Drake in the previous games. If they couldn't find a way to include the skin in this game in a way that they comfortable with (Neil suggests they prototyped it in a number of ways) then they shouldn't have to include it.Assuming you do want to have intellectual discourse rather than just driveby "lol @ people outraged over outrage" sort of posting, and assuming that the reason this Donut Drake was cancelled is due to fear of "FAAAAT HAAAAAATE" backlash, the sad thing is that studios are driven to self-censorship even on good-natured humor by the very fear of backlash. Strong Drake would be disrespectful to body builders and other fit people. ND have matured past that.

See that deal with it attitude? Selfish as fuck.

Even the basic function of a taunt is to make fun out of somebody.
Gaming is boring.

The real fat cat minion from FFXIV lol
Do they nerf fat drakes stats?
if not, i don't see how a guy being fat would offend anyone, especially if he's doing cool shit
"Creative freedom"? The game devs chose not to include a fat joke. Nobody forced them.People are arguing that there should be a line between considering feelings and creative freedom rather than going "oh some people might find this offensive so let's take this out" at every single thing.
