No love for The Crew: Wild Run?

I like many others got burned by The Crew last year. The game looked and played mediocre. The handling was atrocious and the graphics were flat. This year Ubisoft seemed to have done for The Crew what Bungie did for the Destiny with The Taken King. The graphics look really nice and improved. The handling/controls appear to be improved by all accounts. They added tons of new event types and vehicles that look amazing. Monster trucks, motorcycles, drift spec cars are all new. New events like king of the hill, drag racing, and an obstacle course to score the most about of points. And it's only $40. It looks to be an incredible value over Need for Speed.

This video does a nice job of showing a lot of the new features off

The crew pops up now and again on gaf, I enjoyed the beta but didn't buy the game until just the other month, played 4-5 hours worth but waiting for the visual and rain update before I continue.

I really liked this game, and played a ton of it around the release. Like a number of other people I'm waiting on the expansion to get back in it; it looks damn impressive.

Really hoping the physics are improved a lot.

Not that I'm not excited, but there's so much else competing for my time and it's taken a bit of a back seat admittedly.

Love the base game, truly something unique in the genre and I'm glad I wasn't dissuaded by the hate early on.

Still have my copy after no one would buy it off me! Haha.

Will give it another blast after the update.

After what seemed to be a disappointment with NfS, I looking forward to seeing what Wild Run brings - I was pretty down on the Crew when it was in beta and didnt get the impression much changed at release - more than willing to check this out if its as substantial as some have mentioned.

has it been said how expensive wild run will be if you own the crew already? the crew/wild run bundle release is full retail price in the uk.

I didn't know this game is being released soon. My son has been wanting The Crew since it first released and we never bought it. He was disappointed in the beta for Need for Speed, which I had planned on getting for him.

We jumped consoles from Xbox to PS and he really misses his Forza Horizon games. I will go ahead and get him this for Christmas. It does look like a lot of fun.

I might finally get The Crew when The Wild Run comes out. I wasn't 100% sure on the beta, but I'm willing to give the full game a chance with all the upgrades. Does The Wild Run Edition come with just the game and expansion, or is all the season pass content included as well?

Is this game fun alone? I have some friends that like this kind of game, however only 1 of them has a platform to play it with me. :(

All the main story events feel like they were designed solo, if you do play with a random person you clear them so quickly it feels like cheating sometimes.

Quick question: clearly the Wild Run expansion has improved graphics, handling, etc. Will these improvements be evident in the vanilla content too? I've never played this game, but that video looked good.

No, I'm not interested in open world Ubisoft game cars edition. Don't you even have to drive around looking for towers?

Yeah, the non-content stuff like weather, improved graphics, UI, etc. will all update to the main game. That's why, when I bought the game for $20 a couple of months ago, I just played it for a few hours but left it until the update hits, at which point I'll really get into it.

Yeah

I thought the OG Crew was underrated, after you tweak the handling options to not be terrible. Felt like Destiny with cars, which isn't the greatest thing ever but not the horrendous wreck people make it out to be. Skip all the cut scenes.

I wish getting new cars wasn't such a bear, and I hate that some cars can't do some events.

Please make it a proper OT this time around, the original one was an embarassment. Plus the game will actually be awesome finally, judging by the beta.

For the OT of the original release I just wrote up a small bit a couple days after release to have something else than just fantomena's negative comments in the opening post. I intend on making banners, so don't worry, it won't be just text.

Since Wild Run includes the original game, will those of us who already have it be able to upgrade at a lower cost?

EDIT: Looks like there's an "Expansion" option, but price isn't yet listed.

I'm pretty sure the updated graphics will be available in vanilla, not sure about the rest.

I enjoyed the game too and didn't find the handling to be anywhere near as bad as people made it out to be.

But I agree, getting cars should have been a little easier, the game didn't really hand out money fast enough after you beat everything.

Yeah

Fantastic! Sounds promising.

Well i have to say i played the beta and i am surprised how well it played and even looks. The Crew last year to be honest was to me not so great but like i said playing the beta on PC made it worthwhile i will take this racer above NFS.

It played the original at a friend's house and we both agreed that The Crew was one supremely okay game. It was a totally competent game, and it had some enjoyable missions.

Passed on The Crew the first time around, but I'm looking forward to it.

The $40 edition includes the base game. The $60 edition includes the season pass. Any opinions on the season pass?

I've been thinking about picking it up, but I know it's going to land at sub-$30CAD at some point and I don't need to add another game to the backlog right now. Still, it looks like quite an improvement over the original, so I'm definitely interested.

Picked up the Crew for $20 a few months back. Game seemed interested but handled so incredibly poorly I gave up after about 5-6 hours. Wild Run looks interesting content-wise and if the new handling also updates the base game I'm in for sure.

I don't think the season pass was all that worth it

I just like getting all those extra cars nothing more to it

The graphics definitely look better than what I played in the beta (for the original) way back when. The game actually looks appealing to me, but it's the always online that is stopping my purchase.

Warming the tires in the desert for better grip makes sense.. if you believe the Fast & Furious films are documentaries.

NOT for me.
