I'm a pretty big Lovecraft fan, so I definitely built a bit of that HP-brand paranoia-horror in there.

However the structure of the plot and backstory were mainly penned before I arrived. The main inspiration was pop-sci-fi-fantasy like Lost, Unreal, Alien, etc.

I just gave it a lot more depth and structure, executed the thing, wrote the actual texts, and organised out the voice acting. Got a few Lovecraft references in there, but unfortunately there is no direct inspiration or symbolism.

I have been waiting for this game my whole life.
This is the first game in a long, long time that I am just going to sit and relax, explore and roleplay.
I am under no illusion it'll have its flaws but unless they break the game then I'm willing to forget about them.
I'm really hoping that HG and Sony support this game for a long time.
My main disappointment is that the trailers show the animals better such as the large rhino crashing through trees, enormous worm and stegosaurus like creatures running down a trench. We haven't seen anything like that yet.
 
I just went to my local Gamestop and they already have it in! [not for sale yet, obviously]

They got them yesterday and are doing an 11 PM launch August 8th.

Actually causes the same physical sensation in me as Time from Hans Zimmer's Inception score (not that musically dissimilar without the percussion, I guess). Wild

I bet they are under embargo as they are deleting streams of leaks. Probably wont see a QL until Monday maybe.

Maybe. Most of these streams are of people who got the game through more illegal channels or from retailers that broke street date. Usually when press gets review copies, they are given a list of what can and can't be shown included embargo dates. So far, nothing anywhere on that front.

I was faced with the same decision, and went with canceling the LE for a digital copy. I actually think the ship will make the early game experience worse by making it easier... and the rest is pretty worthless.
 
Has any youtuber / streamer confirmed how you log in to the online servers? like, is it steamworks or does it have a custom account system...?

I actually have to cancel mine since the card it's attached to is expired, but I'm too afraid I'll lose it. So I'll just wait for Best Buy to be like "hey, we got a problem processing this order", then I'll just be like, "I got you right here, buddy."

Great show. Especially if you grew up in the 80's, so much nostalgia. The wardrobe, set pieces, music, and acting were all fantastic.

It is paced very well, every character has an important role, and feels more like an 8 part movie since they all pick up right where it leaves off. Be prepared to devote 7.5-8 hours of your day, lol.
